It sure is nice when you have replacement parts at hand. That was sweet having the fuel valve, line, and carb ready to go. The engine sounds great. I enjoyed hearing it fire up and run. And I loved the clear distributor cap. I'd forgotten about those. Yes, I also watched that episode of VGG, and to the end. I was very happy that he mentioned you, Paul. And of course, I sung your praises in the comment section. God bless.
Dereks awesome comments about you brought me here, and Ive watched quite a few videos over the last few days, and now.... I have a model A in my searches already! !
It’s always a good episode when we see the Tudor in action, I absolutely love that car… I have high hopes for Gandalf, who is beautiful in his own right. It will be an interesting tutorial watching the rest of his restoration. BTW, excellent resolution on your security cam!
I do not have, nor am I likely to have, a Model A. However, I do have the Model A’s younger agricultural cousin, an 8N tractor. I always love these old machines being restored and put back into use.
Amazing to see the engine start up for the first time! I am very excited to follow along the restoration of this Coupe!! Thanks for another amazing video and for what you do to keep these vehicles on the road after so many decades, Paul!
Starting a Model A that has been slumbering for a long time is my favorite part of the hobby. One of mine had been in storage for 34 years and started with very little difficulty. I have a saying about them: if you can get a fire going (ignition) and pour a little gas on it (through the intake manifold), something good is bound to happen! The one in question started, idled down smoothly , and then stalled (!) when the carburetor float stuck! That car is now in weekly use. Before its long time out it was a daily driver to college and work, 30 miles a day YEAR ROUND in Minnesota!
I have very few subscriptions on UA-cam - Paul's channel and Derek's at the top of my list for some years: its fun to see the comments on here from VGG subscribers
Yes, I saw that vice grip garage video and it led me to you. Now the last 2 days I have binge watched you! I have become a fan of the old Ford A and modelT. As a young 4 and 5 year old my father home from WWII had a Model A. My mother sold the very small house she had fixed up and had the car waiting for his return. A house for $600 what a bargain! I remember how well it made it dosn the mud road by our farm house. I remember dad cranking it to start it. He told me of taking bacon rind and tying it wrapped around the bottom end of the motor for lubrication. What simple cars they were. In 1971 as a young man not long home from my war, I visited a friend in Winterset, Iowa. We drove to town to see the new cars out , namely Ford Pinto, etc. There was an old farmer there who still drove an old model T pickup truck from farm to town for groceries, etc. It was his only car I was told. That was impressive. More so than seeing the Pinto etc.
Thank you so much Paul. I just got my first Model A. 1930 Tudor. Top is ripped and needs replacing, unfortunately, the header piece of wood need replacing. While I got it running she pops and sputters. Gas just trickles out. Got new Wix filter, bowl to carb line. SO this series you started will be helping me immensely. I hope you inspect and discuss the wood bows, and their replacement even if yours don't need replacing. Thanks!
Awesome!! Hey, sounds like you have a good starting point. A lot of us start with a trailer full of parts. Looking forward to you being on the road soon!
The "TooDor" Sedan is BEAUTIFUL! Gandalf lookin' better and better. I saw a Model-T drive through town today. I was getting gas, heard that engine coming, and knew immediately.
Just found your channel, always loved those old fords. Your location caught my attention as I used to live in Amador County. Have a family friend who lives in Valley Springs.
I am a huge fan of old, Vintage, classic cars, hotrods, Old trucks in fact anything mechanical plus also older motorbikes too. Especially when they restored back to their original beauty, or even to get them back out on the roads to be seen by all. I have followed Derek for a long time and when he brought the Ford Model A and drove it all the way back home and then he promoted you big time. So here I am, another sub to your channel to enjoy seeing all that you do. From this bikerchick from way across the oceans down here in Aotearoa New Zealand🙂 🙂

I was sure that while you had that distributor apart you would lube it. Nothing like a well lubed distributor. I watched that Vice Grip Garage 700 mile trip. He is at least 200 miles overdue for lube service, all in one trip. That poor water pump! Ugh! Thanks for your channel and all the knowledge you share with the world. It is very interesting and helpful.

Excellent. I learnt a lot that can be directly applied to my two Austin Burnham limousines from 1929. The static timing method is awesome. The flywheels on the Austins are slightly difficult to get at and only have a TDC mark. Now I know how to set the timing at TDC statically. Which for these engines and modern fuel is spot on really. Paul, what a delight to have found your channel :)
Love your channel. I've been watching your channel every day for the last week. I've working on a 1933 Chevy for several years. It needed wood and lots more.
