@@BigOlSkipit's only been a few weeks mate chill out will ya and if yer not happy with his upload schedule you know where the unsub button is, lay off.
We've seen so many shark fins already! What about a stepdown or drop and immediately a berm, so you have to prepare for the turn in mid air. I call it the reversed shark fin.
For the next part you should build a big whale tail but you have a hip aswel that's landing goes through the gap of the whale tail and then you can further carry on by jumping over the fence. Also after the whale tail do a shark fin at the end and then eventually link the two lines togeather.
You're correct, it's mostly clay, it would never drain especially with the rainy UK weather. I'd much rather they work on making this line look nice and have some side features (hips/berms) rather than to waste time on making a dirt bowl. There's a reason why there are so few of those out there.
You should build jumps that ride like a half pipe that rides back and forth continuing down and have a jump that you can rather ride like a hip and keep going down the half pipe or you can ride it straight on and jump over the fence into the field
I love the fact that you have now a giant hole. I think what would serve you well is to also make a nice big pond, plant some trees, create a nice chill spot and you've got a riding area that also has some family space too. Love the videos
something that would be so sick is it if you added a shark fin style of jump over the fence and then land into another shark fin and came right back over the fence like a little flowy section
You need less moisture when building, rammed earth buildings require 6% water for compaction. When the moisture leaves, it allows the clay to shrink thus giving you cracks less moisture less cracks. The big key is the compaction. You need to get a jumping jack compactor that will hammer it down so tight that your cracks will be a thing of the past. Although you do need to compact and lifts no more than 2 to 3 inches to make sure you have compaction all the way through. But it’s good to see you have another video. I just watched your brothers video and someone commented that we were missing yours. And I guess I was! Thanks for the great content. Hey, where is Ben?
I was wondering if using some of the new browner dirt , would adding a bit to the sides ( like 2 feet at the bottom to buttress ) , and planting grasses and let the roots do the job ? 🤔
@@jammin_5619 roots will hold it together, but will not harden! They will just soften by breaking up the soil with the roots! So truly, you want dirt that has no seeds, or it will start sprouting and ruin all your work. Parts of the great wall of China are made from rammed earth, And all soil that was used had to be sourced at least 4 inches beneath the surface. Just FYI.
Yeah they’re using way too much water building these, also they need abit of compaction whilst building, instead of piling and shaping, that’s why the landing collapsed as it was a compact slab on top of slop
Happy your back and I am stoked to see a new build series started! I hope this doesn't mean you're giving up on the playground because that place deserves love and i want to see you guys finish the big line and for Ben and Jamie to progress more on it!
Hey Matt at 13.37 when you where stand with Ben talking over the fence after your graceful slide off the racer take off !!!! 🤣😂😅 You need to build an epic viewing tower!!! Great spot for Ben to film , and if you actually put a handrail on it would be a cool sun deck for you and the family 😎👍 Plus you could have a staircase up one side and a start ramp for a cool little pump track for fun 😉
Good to see you posting again, apologies in advance for my boring comment (I’m a civil engineer). You need to make the sides of the jumps grade to the ground gradually, earth has a natural angle of repose which it will return to unless you support it, it can’t support itself vertically (which is why we use retaining walls). You need to make the sides of the jumps 1 in 2 ideally, so for every 1m you go up you need to come out 2m. So for a 2m high jump the base at the sides would extend 4m out. Someone below made a good comment about moisture content and also compacting. Compacting should be done in maximum 200mm layers. I know this sounds like a lot of extra soil and work, but vertical soil will only last so long before it collapses back to its natural angle.
One thing that helps with cracks is sandbags, fill them with dirt, stacks them then build on them, clay sinks and shrinks which then cracks the sand bags help stop that and also hold the moisture in. Build a split line, so you can hip into the feild but also go straight on then join the 2 further along
make a sharkfin jump over the fence and then make another sharkfin and you would have lots of speed then you can make a cool malts jump at the end, like the one Sam Reynolds has in his back garden
Awesome jumps Matt. On another note, just want to say a huge thank you again for signing my sons new Alcatraz at Malverns on Sunday, although he can’t ride it anger yet as we’re getting it wrapped to preserve the signature 😉
hey matt! glad to see you’re uploading again! i think you should do a huge 180 berm after the racer into a line that jumps over each side of the fence, back and forth 3 times and call it, in n out burgers
Hear me out. You have 4 options after the racer. The roller, obviously the best choice the maximize the speed for the next feature. Going straight following the main line, you could go for a deep step-up. Great for those huge tricks with that massive speed. The field is definitely wide enough for 2 lines, so maybe a shark fin after the roller to "switch lanes".. Reminiscence of the first backyard trail with the alley-oop spine feature in the middle of the line.. :D With enough time, and man power.. and dirt... A steep left turn berm, with any kind of jump (considering all of the space available, it looks kinda tight though..) over the fence into the 2nd field... The options are literally endless after what you guys have all ready built, big props on that! 👏 That Nuga dirt looked like it would make great dust (after a day or two drying in the sun) to fill in the cracks on the other jumps... The only things that slaps harder than the build lapse song is your shovel work 🔥
So good to have you back Matt. You should build a big roller after the racer that is cambered on the left but normal in the middle/right. the left line could then jump over the fence, and the straight line could continue
Shark fin or hip over the fence and a whale tail straight on. 2 lines Or a tribute to the old hardline track by jumping over the fence then jumping back over it. Like the jumps over the wall
Matt I wanna see a shark to shark fin over the fence with a double hip back over the fence and around the corner to a fat line of your choice, but a shark to shark is what dreams are made of 😍
I've been wondering where the new videos were, but I knew that whatever was going on, they'd be worth the wait! You guys are definitely one of my favourite UA-cam channels of all time! (Thank god for Jamies carrying skills 😂) Awesome people, a great little crew and some of the best content ever!❤
so sick! glad to see you back matt! I think a roller into a hip over the fence or a roller into a right hip into a left hip and then a racer over the fence could be super sick
i dont know so much about clay and the different kinds of it, but there is clay and certain treatment which makes the clay more or less waterproof. they use this in interior design. i would recommend just use water and claydust to make a kind of cement and when the kickers are wet you have to rub and polish and just get muddy as hell :D
I would put a roller that you can roll off either side with straight jump that on either side has a shark fin that then after they all then conjoin back into one for the next feature. Honestly Matt I love your work keep it up. And can’t wait for 1 mil subs. 🤟
Have a landing to the left of the racer that’s a bit shorter than the original landing. After that have the takeoff send you over the fence into the other pasture. You can still run the roller I to booster off the original line as well! Sick build!
With you getting back into Slopestyle, I think a Slopestyle whailtail or on-off platform would be cool. I also realize how much log and wood work would go into that, so feel free to ignore my suggestion. 🤘
Looking amazing!!! Surly that line needs to carry on down, over the fence at the bottom and then use the quarry as a bomb hole section or sunken half pipe!!!
Ironically I was just thinking about the fact that I hadn't seen a Matt Jones vid in quite sometime and magically this pops up. Great work on the jumps.
I work in mud.. you should sweep postcrete into the cracks, then spray it down with the hose, it goes off really quick so would still be rideable the day you do it. It’s very fine so will get deep into all the cracks and take your wrist of when you do the knock test.
I’d like to see a roller into a dirt take off with a stepped up wooden platform that then steps down off (on and off) into a vertical berm left. You’d be able to make the dirt take off hip left into the field aswell as the step down from the wooden feature step down left into the field so two landings next to each other in the field on the left allowing 3 lines to chose from within that feature, you’d then have 3 lines left fairly parallel to each other allowing you to go nuts with transfer lines etc.
I reckon continue straight for as long as your section allows and then look at branching off. That way you’ve always got a good set of trick-able jumps to practice/get content with.
There should be a pond in the gap of the racer to increase the fun 😇 Maybe a wallride over the fence afterwards and then 2 quarters to jump back again, kind of like a half-pipe with a gap until you want to take the next features
Matt you should invest in some concrete canvas it's quite pricey but you roll it out (like carpet) then water it and it goes rock hard and water proof with great grip. That way you could ride in whatever weather and it would protect the jumps.
Yes Matt such a pleasure to meet you and Ben at Malvern, Ginuwine top blokes. Such a shame I couldn’t meet Jamie as well but you Gotta spend some time with the girlfriend every now and then hay lol 😂. Thank you again for letting me sit in the buggy absolutely amazing piece of craftsmanship #Helfare 🤙
At the end of that pasture you could build a huge 1/4 covering the entire span and build a line of jumps coming back. Maybe even figure out a way to make the entire thing a endless track.
That long and low looks prime for a over under. Put a berm to the right of the lip. Cross through the gap and then have a lip facing the fence to jump over the fence in a right hip. Then you could have a second line running parallel on the other side of the fence. Would be insane riding with multiple people.
You should just make a massive wooden mulch jump, but you can hip off the wooden lip to the left as well to make a different line ( as well as just a straight mulch jump)
oh ive missed that build lapse music! matt my local jumps are full of clay in order to fix the cracks u must use non clay like soil and layer over the top, the browner and finer the better, almost seive it and chuck it over the clay like an airbrush , this will clog the cracks and mix with the top of the clay to give a better finish, i think this is the way nature does smooths the ground too :`) keep it up boys!
PARALLEL CROSSOVER LINES!!! Put a transfer over the fence as 4th like you suggested but make it so that its also a straight double to continue the mainline, then another transfer as the 5th on the mainline so that you can run 2x parallel lines in the next field. even cross them over!!!! Would have the speed for a transfer to wall ride on the 5th one too....
You could do a big open loop like you did in the first lockdown trail. Have a take off in the middle and two landings one each side so you could do it both directions. Also you could spine the take off so it could be riden in three ways.
Idea for the next jump: Moonbooter 2 takeoffs one bigger and one smaller. Long landing and the possibility to hip to the left. Basically like the new moon booter in Lenzerheide.
Hey Matt I think the next jump should be a big straight jump over the end fence that would lead into a huge slopestyle jump maybe like the hardline one with the metel lip
Just an idea Matt the HUGE pit where your taking the dirt from for the jumps, you could put some tarp in there fill it up with water and have a SICK outdoor pool
Love everything you've done so far! Glad you're back. My first ideo when you mentioned the fence was a mega wooden Shark fin/hip. After that I would continue in a straight line of main jumps on the second field.
You should build a whale tail, with two lip options, one can hip over the fence, and the other can be a bit of a step down Manual pad to finish the line 🤙
Sick vid Matt! So stoked for you being back! Trails look SICK, I reckon for the next jump after the racer you should add a roller than a sharkfin or hip that jumps the fence. Loved the buildlapse (gave me nostalgia to the other backyard trails). Congratulations on your engagement to Gemma! Cant wait to see how this build series goes! 💙🤘💥
I would suggest moving the racer landing a bit closer (so its still doable after tricking 2nd jump) then have a split jump that goes straight and then into a dirt quarter pipe. Left split after racer can be a nice big flowy distance hip over the fence into the new area. Also, please please please turn the quarry pit into a dirt bowl (drainage will be important) coz dirt bowls are sick
Matt you should get some dirt scooters and make a series on them where you go to the playground and other bike parks and try to compete the lines. Especially the surfboard on the pipe line😂.
Next feature: How about a big hip that sends you up really high, which you can do to the left or right and is also like a long table hip landing so you can hip jump far or not. It's like the big hip table of the Nico Vink line at ferme libert.
Great to see you back uploading 😊 thought the life of a dad (as it has mine) had taken over. I hope little one is well

You should get a big bucket of water/clay and a mop. Kinda like slip in pottery but on a larger level.could be a great way to fix cracking
Love how Matt keeps saying he will add a hand rail to things and he’s not a complete lunatic but he never does😂😂😂
I think he might be a complete lunatic by this point lol
Glad your back, the jumps look rad, when your done building you should turn the quarry into a big dirt bowl
drainage would be a nightmare. but if they wanted to they could probably manage it somehow 👌

Matt we need to see a shark fin over the fence and a HUGE mulch jump at the end
I was having withdrawal symptoms great to see you back
