The Ultimate Sony a7iii Camera Rig for Pro setup and Run & Gun style shooting
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Hey family, here is my sony a7iii camera rig breakdown!
So today I wanted to show how I turned my sony a7iii in the ultimate camera rig when shooting both handheld run and gun type of videos as well as bigger production type of videos such as documentaries, social content and etc. I'm still adding to my rig but I've tried to make it as versatile as possible and as simple as possible. Of course I also rent so a lot of things would come from that, but here is my normal setup when using just my equipment and hopefully it helps you turn your camera into the ultimate cinema camera.

I want to make something like the BIG setup for my FX3...what baseplate is that? Can you link me to it?
Nice 👍🏽 I’m subscribing
Informative, even three years after the fact. Good to see a young sister working!
It is so awesome to see women doing reviews and such! Great video! Keep going and you got my support!!
Watching this a year after it dropped, and seeing how much you’ve grown is amazing and inspiring. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE seeing a black woman out here CRUSHING IT!! Keep inspiring us filmmakers of color.
Thank you so much!!
Very nice setup and good to see you doing your thing.
dear god that setup is amazing looking too
Go girl!!!!!! Love it!!!!
Ok Sista!!!! Love it. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Super interesting video. Thanks for showing everything and explaining why you bought/kept certain parts of the setup
Thanks for sharing Brittney!!!
Loving your video Queen. This was 2 years ago, can't wait to see where you are now and what you're creating!
Just found this! LOVE YOUR RIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice camera rig setup!
Like your set up. Female Filmmakers are rare, they generally are in writing scripts or maybe makeup. Good to see you in the muk and mare of a filmmaker, I support that.
What s the camera settings
I have no idea what it as back then. You have to use your judgment based on what you want for your project
This was awesome and your awesome. Really helpful to watch and really enjoyed. Good luck with everything you are doing!
Looking at buying a new rig for my Sony a7iii and found your channel. We done and keep rocking.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Don't usually find people in this field that make UA-cam videos who I can relate to!
Love this video! Loved seeing a BLACK WOMAN DO IT. thank you so much
I was literally about to say the same thing. So good to see my skin color giving knowledge!
Great job- keep striving
Nicely done.
I love seeing women in filmmaking. Whenever you search filmmaking tips, it’s always men 😂 which there is nothing wrong! I just wanna see more women in film. I started my journey 9 months ago. I enjoy it so much. Thanks for your content!
Thank you!!
Would you mind linking the smallrig handles? How were you able to link them to the 15mm rods? Thank you, great video
Great video. I rigged my a7iii in a similar way. Love it!!
What is the V-Mount Battery attachment. i dont think its listed.
Love your channel. Newly subscribed. Also new ower of the a7iii, so I'm here for it all.
dope rig and good vibes
Hi Brittney, so good to see a woman filmmaker. What do you recommend for documentary handheld DSLR video work if your upper body strength is not so great? I have a project that necessitates following someone and filming for longer stretches of time and I realized that I tire easily. So I don't want a really big, heavy rig I have to hold up with my arms. I wish I could find something not too big that I can support with my core, not my arms (or a big contraption I have to put on my shoulder).
Hey for sure I totally understand! I’m the same way. I think you should look into the c70. It’s small. Battery life is amazing if you’re shooting for longer period of time and it comes with built in ND filters, mini xlr for audio and everything you would need if you’re a one man band.
Hello! Im torn between the Panny g7 (no ibis) and a gimbal or a G9 (ibis). Which set up would you recommend?
Love your videoss
Look at the Andycine A6 plus too. Pretty decent monitor
when using the shoulder rig, how do you press record on the camera?
You press record and then set your shot.
@@BrittneyJanae thanks for your reply, is there anything like TILTA LEFT SIDE ADVANCED POWER HANDLE WITH RUN/STOP for the Sony A7iii?
I would LOVE to see an updated gear vid! This was such great info, I’m curious to see what your using nowadays 😀
Awesome. Love it. Are you in NYC?
Well done... had to sub
Hey ya, nice video. Very honest and informative. I don't know if that helps but I came the same way as you. I had the Sigma 18-35 1.8 and 50-100 1.8 and when I bought the A7iii I went to Sigma 24-35 F2 and sigma 70-200 2.8 Sports. Trust me, you will love the 24-35. Its like a prime lens, also heavy which is helpful when you handheld. Very cheap these day, brand new on ebay 550 pounds. Keep up the good work. Subscribed!
Great video. Renting over time will get tedious, I just started purchasing everything over time which paid off in the long run. I love the breakdown... Keep it up and representing strong!!!
That’s true! I pay for the things I need daily but renting comes on the clients dollar so I never have to worry about it lol
@@BrittneyJanae Like I was taught when I got in the business in 1985.. Never use your Own Many LOL.. Cheer My Lady!!!
Always wondered if I should rig my A7iii before I get a cinema camera (BMPCC 4k). I started with the smallrig cage and stopped with that but now. Thinking of finishing off, like you said better for bigger budget/client work.
Love the video too! So pleasing to the eyes :)
Ayyyeee Brittany! Glad to see you hustling out there! I'm post this to rig cultures blog!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 definitely!!!! I’m trying lol
Awesome and honest! Subbed!
The smallrig handles? To hold for shoulder mount where did you get that? I’m trying to set up a shoulder mount rig for my a6400
Hey which are you talking about? The arms?
amzn.to/33yQpHt
Here are the handles. They are camvate
Great video. I just purchased the Sony A7iii but I have an older rig based around my Sony A77. I primary shoot high school football and would like to get into more documentary projects. Any suggestions?
Invest in a good audio set up. Wireless lav mics are way better than a shotgun mic on camera. The best set up is a dedicated sound guy if you can afford it though 👌🏿 happy shooting!
Does a Sony 70-300 lens work on a matte box
Yep! I’m actually making a video on matte boxes as I type!
Quick question: Is there a sort of "docking station" for cameras? I have a lot of things I want to plug into the camera, but Im having an issue where my hand keeps hitting some of the stuff I have plugged in as I'm operating the camera. I have a handle, but my left hand is still too close to the cords that plug in on that side, causing me to knock some loose or weaken their integrity.
Not really! Everyone’s rig is diff. You have to rig it in a way that works for you!
Hey! I just bought a Sony a7iii and Ibwas wondering about getting a small rig and a monitor for my videos. What would you recommend,
I just subscribed to your channel, you are 😘😘😘😘😘
Thank you!!!
Recently bout the Atamos Shinobi 5” monitor, so I could mount a smaller monitor. Love it
Clicked on this video as soon as I saw you in the thumbnail, it’s nice see a black women talking about cameras
Good video! 😊
Would love to know more about how you charge and the breakdown of things!
A lot of info. I like the power handle.
Might of missed it in the video but do you have a link for the v mount plate?
Sorry! For some reason it’s not available at the moment. CAMVATE V Lock Mounting Plate Power Supply Splitter with 15mm Rod Clamp www.amazon.com/dp/B071VD2SFV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nab6EbW0A46S5
I just found your channel on twitter and you are awesome!
OMG. Got a new teacher.. LOL. Thanks..
Great setup !
Love your channel!! Super relatable when talking about not being a rich influencer lol I’m looking for things to sell around the house to upgrade!
You are dope! keep doing what u doin!
As you was saying "I'm not rich" my eyes went over to the big imac display lol
Lol toolk years to get
@@BrittneyJanae Nice setup I was only joking I have a 27" monitor also (Dell Ultra sharp ) & I'm broke broke until it come to getting equipment lol
Lol that’s how it be!
Great video, and good job!
Mam you are my spirit animal
I need this video!!!
do you have any footage with this set up in a run and gun situation?
For the run and gun set up just watch my Kinloch video. And majority of the videos that are from my portfolio on my page are with the run & gun setup.
Dope setup! Thanks for this video, Brittney!
Love the t-shirt. I looked but didn’t see a link for that. Could you share please?
Hey thank you! Those are sold out. I’ll be making new ones soon!
This a great video! Extremely informative and well put together. 👍🏼
love your content girl
Love this. Quick question. Why did you need the MC11 adapter if you used the sigma lens on the a6300? I'm adapting mine because I have the canon version of that same lens but yours was mount. Do you get better AF performance with the MC11?
Because the sigma is an ef mount. so in order to use it on sony I had to use an adapter.
@@BrittneyJanae ahhhh got it! I have an ef mount sigma as well. Thank you!!! Love your content.
Great video! The rig looks very cool. The Sony A7 III produces beautiful video, but I did end up selling mine after it overheated a few times and then finally failed to turn on!! I replaced it for a Lumix GH5 and Sony a6300.
Thank you! Yea I had the 6300 and sold it. I think I’m about to get a canon c200
Brittney Janae Another great camera! Looking forward to seeing a canon c200 rig video. All the best.
It took me such a long time to realize people in film say “sticks.” What other shoulder rigs have you used and liked for bigger rigs out of curiosity? Been looking around for one. I just got a canon C300 (MKI).
Haha same. Since this is my personal equipment these are normally my rigs. I may add a ronin m if I need a stabilizer but that’s about it. I’m about to get a c200 so a lot of this will change.
Brittney Janae Nice 👍🏿. I subbed so I’m looking forward to that unboxing
@@BrittneyJanae niiice. the c200 is amazing!
Why am I just seeing this amazing black woman creator? Subscribed!
Great video! New Subscriber!
Photo of you @8:10 is so cool
Great vid! I think you represent the majority of us out there (budget friendly creatives). Outside of audio is there anything else you recommend to purchase over rent?
You definitely want to have your basic setup purchased so camera, audio, tripod, possibly a gimbal depending on the work you do, at least one light source and maybe a monitor. Also, get you some stingers (extension cables) they are always needed.
Dam girl killing it where u located?
gracias
Nice kit!! Been a sub for a minute and follow u on IG! Keep doing what you are doing. You just inspired me to do a rig breakdown vid! 💪🏾
Thank you!! Def do one!!!!
Love it - keep it up! Found you in my search for a new external monitor. Following you on IG
btw if you don't mind selling it, you can look into trading in your 18-35 for a 35, which on full frame is essentially the same focal range since you can always go into cropped mode as well. i see almost 0 reason to keep the 18-35 on the a7iii unless you still plan on keeping a crop sensor camera around as your b-cam or something.
Yes sir. My goal is to get the canon c200.00 so I was keeping the 18-35mm for that.
Need help learning to use my a7iii . Can u help ?
Hello Brittany, I really enjoyed your video. All of the lenses in your description are canon. Were you a canon user that switch to Sony or do you prefer Canon glass? There are a few items you mentioned that I may purchase. Thanks for sharing.
I started off a canon user so I still had my canon lenses because I also do photography
U are amazing
So refreshing having a woman do the camera related tutorials! So many film bros sigh
Thank you!!
Good video. How much do you make per project , if you don't mind me asking? Thanks in advance.
Hey it really depends on the project. I don't have a set price because every project that comes to me is different so I make sure I get as much information as possible and then quote them from there.
@@BrittneyJanae I understand. I just ordered the same tripod. I just have a teleprompter, lens and camera for now. But can it hold a full rig with lcd, audio , battery etc? It's high capacity right?
Fire
Thanks for sharing this! I have thought about renting from B&H! Nice Setup and great info.
Thank you!! Yes B&H is amazing! But I don’t rent from there I usually rent from sharegrid which is an online site where you’re renting from other filmmakers.
What frame rate did you shoot this stand&talk in? If u don’t mind me asking
I shot it 23fps on my canon 5d mark III since I had my sony's in the video
Hey brittney I love your content, it’s really inspiring. I’m a creator as well and I love how your website. May I get a recommendation on which one you use
Hey I use format.com
Awesome Brittney! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I gained from this video!! Do you find the MC-11 too loud for run n' gun stuff or do you find you something like the Videomicro cuts it out enough to be useable?
It’s definitely loud! So most times I’m do manual focusing if I need audio. And auto focusing on b roll.
@@BrittneyJanae good to know! Thanks a lot :)
This was CRAZY helpful!!!! Thank you for all the tips and advice!
You gotta run back that created to create shirt! I'm glad I found you, I'm trying to find all the black photographers and videographers on youtube to sub and uplift
Black female videographer gotta sub !!!
Great Video. Great to see Black girl magic at work. This video is very professional.Keep up the great work. 😁😄👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
#femalefilmmakers 🙌🏼
Good video!! So tired of watching guys talking about camera gear.
Kinloch!
Your so beautiful🙂 i love you videos.
Get ninja v
i mean... good video but all that gear and the quality audio is very poor on this video...
Please explain? Audio seems fine to me. And of course the video isn’t like my other ones because I’m using the gear I would be using on this video to actually show you what I use lmbo. So I had to use my canon 5d mark iii to shoot the video with. But continue please.
