A lighter phone box, thats what everyone wants in a phone.
Watching the reveal, it's do with being able to send more phones to stores per delivery/per pallet to reduce the environmental impact on the logistics side of things.

I already commented this and I know that no one cares so I apologize. But bruh I'm actually surprised people are making a big deal out of this. I know, it's an inconvenience and an extra cost. But whether they truly did it for the environmental impact or just to offset the cost of 5G, well, it doesn't really matter; the environmental impact legitimately is huge. Smaller boxes, less material. Nice. Less e-waste which is a huge problem, nice. Perhaps most importantly, the slimmer boxes mean there is an enormous increase in the number of iPhones that can be loaded onto trucks, shipping containers, etc. That's a lot of fuel savings. Can't we just go out and spend a few bucks on a charge brick if we don't have one already? Just my opinion.

The surface area to volume ratio is larger with smaller volumes, i.e. when you package something in two boxes, there will be more materials required to make those boxes compared to making the one larger box

The bricks were always packaged in, so you would always get a new one with every new phone, but with it not included in the box, it’s less packaging, and you would only get one or two bricks and not have a million extra bricks

@Space Rex But not one that fits a USB type C connector, which is the kind of cable they included in the box for some reason. Hang on I know. You can plug it into your Macbook with that. It probably won't get annoying having different kinds of cables for wall charging and connecting it to your laptop. Their customers definitely will not be enticed to buy a new charger with a Type C port.

@Space Rex I know nobody who'd use their old charger for a new phone unless their main one breaks. Most keep their phone at least two years, and charging speeds are constantly increasing. So, why on earth would I use an old charger for a brand-new flagship phone and not use the fast-charge feature to its full capacity?

@Nahid Islam nope they now ship 20W and even 30w which is much faster then 5W , can charge up to 50% in 20 to 30 mins so the charging speeds are different on the new chargers from apple

@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Except 1) any wireless charging stand costs a pretty penny 2) wireless charging is still basically the same as using a cord (I really don’t know why it caught on; it’s not like you can charge your phone across feet) and 3) its not just a charging port. Its to connect to other devices. If you want to back up to a computer or load a back up or upload/download files or use an ethernet cord or anything involving a cord you’ll need that port. If apple takes that away and people still buy the phone we’re doomed as a species

I used to use my phone's provided charger, until it broke so I bought a new one. I picked one with two outputs, so I could charge two things at the same time
Now Apple forces you to buy a new charger, but you're not going to buy theirs because it probably has one output. I'm buying the charger with two outputs and with a long cable. So they're spending less money on chargers, sure, but they could make that back if they included the charger and increased the price of the product as a whole. They're not losing money with this, but they are making less profit.
I'm no economist, in fact I suck at economy but I think it's a pretty dumb move

A charger is around 12-18 smackaroons depending on where you got them the ones that come with the phones break easily are short and burn easily get the store ones instead it isn’t a big deal really
It definitely sucks that this generation in the 12 they removed the old design and the worse display and the 50% slower GPU in the A13 chip and the camera that didn't support night mode

At this point, faster chips in iphones don't matter much even for gaming and slight improvement in camera isn't enough to justify spending 800$+ for a phone that doesn't even come with a charger.

@@Dev-nr4dw I disagree because they all have the Pro XDR displays or whatever they're called which are not only quite high ppi but very highly rated overall, if I remember correctly the iPhone 11 Pro had one of the best smartphone display ratings ever for color and brightness.
