Fun fact: before the River LINE branding, it was called the Southern New Jersey Light Rail Transit System when it debuted, or SNJLRTS, which is just so darn fun to say.
BTW the actual cheapest way to get from Philly to Newark airport is by getting a codeshared Amtrak ticket United sells by setting your origin to Philadelphia 30th St Station when you buy your plane ticket. The total cost for the combined plane+train ticket is usually less than just the plane ticket meaning the Amtrak journey would cost you around negative $50. It also includes the AirTrain ticket.
Sadly I've looked at the United website and I don't think they're running the codeshare anymore! I can't seem to be able to get 30th Street in the departure field.
What also sucks about the end of the partnership is Amtrak Select Plus and above no longer have United Club access, which was honestly a really sweet perk
Also PATCO from the other side of Philly to Camden to the River Line Light Rail to NJT Rail is another way. Get off at Newark Penn Station and take the 62 bus to the airport

I mean when I lived in Jersey City, I always enjoyed it when the jitney drivers had their radio on and amazing merengue music would play. That aside, it's great that there are ordinary buses at EWR for people to take to Newark Penn Station if they didn't want to pay for the AirTrain and would rather take a NJT or PATH train at Newark Penn. And the fact that River LINE is so cheap to go between Trenton and Camden is a steal! Fun fact, contrary to popular belief, Elizabeth is NOT named after Queen Elizabeth I! Originally it was named Elizabethtown after the wife of Sir George Carteret, one of the two original Proprietors of the colony of New Jersey! Taking additional NJT buses doesn't make the trip cheaper because the cost of the buses is more than the money you're saving by taking the train for a shorter distance. It would have been good if you had shown where someone can buy a ticket at the Trenton station, just in case they didn't plan ahead.
