No one has a problem with a player overcoming adversity. The difference is, Geno Smith accepted his role as a backup, kept his mouth shut, kept studying, kept learning the position and when he got another shot at starting, he won CBPOY. Cam hasn't done a thing. To top it off, he makes a video ripping other QBs that are playing right now. Guess what, they're playing.....and Cam isn't!! Humble yourself.
@@isaacandmary Exactly. People think this is about race, grudges, or other such nonsense. It's not. It's about accepting your role and being a good team member. That's what it takes to be a good NFL backup. And it's more important than your talent if you aren't a superstar.
AS a life long panther fan I can tell you Geno has not taken the beating Cam has. Cam has had his career beat out of him by defenses. He has had concussions beyond belief, and countless arm and leg injuries. He is not the same guy anymore.

I hope Cam finds a spot somewhere. It's hard to judge him from his time in NE or his return to Carolina. He hasn't really had a full offseason since his last full season with Carolina. I think he could probably still start somewhere, but I'd hate to see him go into another bad situation. Who knows what might happen, but I'm rooting for the guy.

Cam would be a really good backup for a good team with an established qb. Maybe a decent bridge to your next qb. Would he be cool with being the former, and would he not make waves when the kid takes his spot in the latter?

The key was how they handled themselves mentally... Cams pride & how he handle situations is immature or poor! Therefore, no coaching staff wants to deal with him... not even as a back up...

man the way they talk about him in his college days is so heartwarming, ive always been a huge cam fan
His prime came and went such is life for QB's that can't stand in the pocket and consistently read defenses and make throws.
That's it, really. And that's the future for any QB that doesn't figure that out by their 6th-7th year in the league. QBs don't take hits like they used to, so it benefits them to become elite passers who only scramble when necessary. Mahomes is the prototype of that style of play. But your career lifespan is short if you play like RB and don't become an elite passer. Lamar Jackson and even Josh Allen should remember this if they want to play well into their late 30s.

It’s sad because he would be such a great back up. Just imagine for every Qb sneak you can bring him in. You could put him at half back and do all kinds of crazy stuff with him. He can’t start games anymore, but he’s still huge and fast.
I just made a comment saying as a Steelers fan, I’d love him in Pittsburgh. Short yardage plays, I’d love to have him doing QB sneaks or RPO plays with Najee. Could be a good mentor to Pickett also.

Cam was winning a few games in college; when he came back against Saint Nick's defense and won after being down what I remember to be three (3) touchdowns, everyone knew who Cam Newton was then. He had some good years in Carolina and was getting to the playoffs, but this is a team sport.
