@@chirpthird he means its the best surfers point of view of what its like to fall off a wave at jaws (its not fun) and that the wave he got afterword at 2:14 was a well deserved reward, since physycally he had to try really hard to not die in order to get it
Obviously this some amazing surfing. The skill, resilience, and guts are remarkable. But can I just take a moment to give a very humble shout out to the camera mount? That thing took it on the head over and over and never budged.
Kai is like a human gyroscope. When those monster lips start throwin over his head, he is in as much control as one can possibly be. He is a legend already.
The camera captures Kai's legs and body making the small moves required to stay in balance and moving in the correct direction. It would seem one wrong move and you are a sure wipe out.
I must be getting old, but I never thought I would be seeing footage like this...simply amazing. GoPro tends to make scary surfing situations look fun and easy, but this footage actually conveys some of the incredible intensity of a huge, fast moving wave.
You owe it to yourself drop in on a wave one day. Even that one shoulder high wave that was prefect in every way is all reward and little risk and could ignite a lifetime of stoke
Great footage, a real pleasure to watch. There was a guy right at the impact zone on the same set wave that picked you off in the beginning. He must’ve taken a severe beating.
Absolutely the best point of view big wave surfing I've seen. Really puts you right there, the absolute raw energy of it all is mesmerizing and frightening.
I think some might take it for granted that we can watch video footage like this but for me I'm blown away. I mean to see inside a wave like that is insane and something I never thought would be possible. Kudos to you Kai!
He makes catching and riding those waves seem so easy! There’s a lifetime of best ever waves for most normal surfers in one session AND its at Jaws. I mean, where do you begin? That’s before you look at the first 2 mins which is hands down the best ‘big wave nightmare’ footage Ive ever seen. Incredible film & surfer. Nice to end the year with something to put a smile on your face.
The usual surf videos shot from 50 yards or more by drone, played back in slo-mo with chilled music make it look dangerous yet relaxing. This video shows just how much hard work it truly is.
Seeing barrels so big you could stand in them from this POV is incredible. Waves I for sure will never surf in my lifetime but can appreciate thru you. Those slo-mo’s are incredible as well! Stay safe cheeee! 🤙
I've been skiing down double black mountains the hardest terrain in all of North America for 50 years I don't understand surfing. You people are nuts. Major props!
DUUUUUUUDE! Thanks for keeping in the messy moments! This video provides such good perspective of what you big wave surfers are up against. Those monster waves seem uncompromising--they don't even seem to care about how your day is going. It must make it all the more amazing when you have an amazing run on one of those monsters. Cheers!
kai--you are so good man..i am a 62 year old veteran who was injured and i am a paraplegic...but i use to be stationed pearl harbor...i use to surf but i was not good enough for big stuff on north shore plus i was a howlie with not a ton of connections..so i mainly body surfed Waimea as long as it was not too big...of ocurse using churchill fins...so i say all this cause i can totally appreciate your surfing expertise and especially appreciate you killing it at Jaws man...i want to donate to your cause and support you cause i cant anymore...thanks for your courage and having fun same time I can kinda live through you man...my name is Robert Bass
Thanks Kai! You seriously are putting us right there, for the first time in history, people will have some idea of the "sheer horror" of being caught in a massive swell! Thanks bro, and please keep it up! Most of all, be careful! Much love this Christmas :)
I thought that Kai Lenny doing a 360 jump on a wave at Nazare would always be the best surf footage that I would ever see, but now with this surf cam it adds yet another level!
Wow...glad your ok Kenny...monster waves are scary and it seems like forever when you get caught inside...glad you got out of it. Keep up the good work. That barrel was awesome!! So epic!!!
What an incredible waterman - one of the best on the planet. Amazing skills and guts. So calm in heavy situations. Terrific video thanks for posting and showing us average surfers what it's like at big Jaws because I'll never reach those heights, but videos like these makes me feel I'm in the impact zone or barrel with you (from the comfort of an office chair lol).
Extremely beautiful and epic shots you can never get with out a camera on your board. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I my self don't think I would be able to enjoy such out side of a video.
From the inside with the go pro, the waves look like they are 2 m high. the holddown and the way kai gets thrown around tell a different story :-) love the POV´s. kudos to the camera mount, holds on like a real champ
Im scared watching that through a phone. I could only imagine. Fricken balls of steel and calm like buddha. Thanks for sharing such awesome, beautiful footage.
It’s amazing how fast the wave is on him, his transition is quick and perfect every time, if he was slower or did not get his feet perfect he would be swallowed up and get pounded. The sound of the wave pounding the board is crazy like an explosion.
Wow! Thank you for those impressive pictures, for the including of the scary turnarounds at the beginning and for not underlining ist with music, Just to keep ist pure dramatic ! Slomo at the right sight is maximum pleasure! Keep on Rolling !
for someone who never surfed those big waves ever, your video is the best I've seen so far on internet ! the most terrifying part is when you are on your surf and we see on the horizon the wave growing up and coming, this is insane ! put some more of this please, it's crazy af !!! thumbs up for your amazing video !
I'd just like to give a whole load of recognition to how quick those Jet Skiers were on scene the instant he needed them. That's some spidey sense GPS tracking instinct right there.
Sushmita: never have I seen such footage 😳 its insane to the max OMG scary but admirable Lenny you are something else The guts you have leaves me speechless I even stop breathing for a while just watching you The human spirit 🙏
Kai, such a great raw video. It looks so unreal. If you know the old movies, man in a car in front of a screen. It looks similar with the difference that this is real. Amazing. Big fan from Austria.
He likely got under the wave and out the back. Hence why he stood up to dive, that's how they get through the waves. Usually they'll dive with their board but if the wave is too big they gotta dive and have their board follow them under
Oh man, that one at 4:28 when you got thrown into the wall and then, I'm sure slammed down onto the surface of the wave, must have hurt!!! Incredible footage!!!!
Best gull-wing arms since Mark Richards 😉 I do a lot of big mountain snowboarding as well as surfing, and I still can't get my head around the speed Kai is getting on these mountains!
Totally speechless, humanly imposible yet Kai find a way to ride multiple tubes in 30+ feet face wave. God bless you and protect you my friend. Amazinf GoPro view, thanks for sharing
Think how badass that camera man is sitting on the front of his board, filming him!
Rrrriiigggggghhhht
This is awesome for three reasons: 1. No music, just live action sound. 2. Filming the whole thing, including paddle action. 3. Whipeout pov!
I drowned 3 times while watching this video. Good stuff! Stay safe out there.
🤣😂🤣😂
Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍 brilliant I totally agree
I can't even swim so this blows my mind!
Huh
this is the best POV clip/ clips I've ever seen at jaws, hands down! That barrel was well deserved after that hold down.

Ha! I read in my mind camera man not "camera mount".

As someone who has never actually surfed, I love these videos find them so interesting/ terrifying 🤣👍🏻
Try surfing HERES some tips ask someone to push you a bit and see what leg stands for support ok 👌
Same. I've had recurring nightmares for over 30 years of waves the same size these maniacs actually swim towards😂
I’m with u. Read my posting haha.

Coming from a non surfer at this angle makes you appreciate how hard surfing is. Quality footage 👌 👌🔥 👊
Not going to lie, this is one of the best surfing videos I’ve ever seen:
Well it made me laugh
The most captivating video I have EVER seen. Amazing.
