    Think this one of our shows in Japan. Don Freeman here. Played keyboards with Larry on his Strikes Twice album and did 2 three week tours of Japan which were fantastic.

    I'VE BEEN WORKING ON LARRY CARLTON'S TECHNIQUE AND TONE FOR YEARS! THE FIRST SONG I HEARD BY LARRY AS A SOLO ARTIST WAS "MIDNIGHT PARADE! WOWOW! I WAS AN ALLMAN BROTHERS FAN BIG TIME,, AND SO GUITAR HARMONY WAS A PRIORITY IN MY MUSICAL LIFE! AND IN THAT SONG, LARRY JUST BLEW ME OFF THE PLANET!! I GOT THE GOOSEBUMPS, THE SHIVERS GALORE!!!!! AND IT'S NEVER STOPPED HAPPENING TILL THIS MOMENT! LARRY, FOR ME,, IS NUMBER ONE ! THERE IS ONLY ONE OTHER GUITARIST WHJO COMES CLOSE, AND I RATE HIM JUST SLIGHTLY UNDER LARRY,,, "ROBBEN FORD"!!! I LOVE HIS PLAYING ALMOST AS MUCH AS LARRY'S,, BUT I DON'T GET THE GOOSEBUMPS FROM HIS PLAYING,, BUT,,,, ALMOST!!!!

    This is a great example of why I want the whole artist playing his instrument, look what we miss when we cannot see the artist playing his instrument. :-))) Just magnificent the whole package. Oh Yeah. fantabulous (I like this word I possibly made up gut it fits this gem of a tune and performance.) An those bass sounds tickle my spirit. Orgasmic delight. :-))))

    Super dynamic and tasteful, in a live situation?! This live version is even far better than the studio recording. Real player!

      Yes,, Larry is in my opinion, is the best "OVERALL" guitarist of our time! While there are faster pickers,, no other guitarist can play with heart & soul,, and give you the shivers! and that is SPECIAL!!!! He bends the strings perfectly in tune with the key he's playing in,, and can slide in and out of target notes flawlessly! And,, he always chooses the ""sweet notes"" for his melodic songs, and the "bluesiest notes for the rough and ready blues songs! Other than Robben Ford,, who else sounds like Larry!?!?!?!?! NOBODY!!!!

    Seriously,, who else sounds like Larry,, he's in a class all by himself! No offense to every other great guitarist,, but,, what can you say,, listen to the emotion, that tone,,, oh!!!

      +stoofbuis : and your feeling with the 335 ?

    • @stoofbuis
      @stoofbuis 8 років тому +2

      +Robert Mortier because it was a bit to big for me, i traded it for a 339, and that suits me perfectly

    • @newmoon54
      @newmoon54 7 років тому +1

      YES,, THE 339 IS A COOL VERSION OF AN "E.S" GUITAR. I HAD AN ES-333, AND TRIED AN IBANEZ ARTIST "ARTCORE" E.S. - STYLE GUITAR,,, AND IT WAS AWESOME,, AND GROWLED EVEN MORE THAN MY 333!!! mY BROTHER BOUGHT IT FROM ME AND HAD THE PICKUP COILS OHM'ED OUT AND IT WAS WOUND WITH EXTRA WINDINGS, BY ABOUT NEAR 9%! NOW I HAVE A 1977 YAMAHA "SUPER-AXE MOD. SA-700",, AND IT'S ALSO A ""HOT-TONED E.S. STYLE AND IT WAS MADE IN JAPAN, AT THE FACTORY THAT MAKES "TOKAI" GUITARS! i LUV IT!!!

    again what can you say - a truly great player really going for it. What more can you ask? It's not exactly 'xmas at my house'. Have you heard the latest cd - a 'reworking' of old classics. It's a massive disappointment. Bit like the last two steely dan albums. There I said it.
