I have neuropathy and idiopathic and taking ALA,not the R ala and find it works very well in taking the pain away from my feet. And making it very bearable walking and sleeping.
yeah I see lots of comments saying only R actually works, but if you ask people who actually used the normal ALA it seems to work for a lot of people too. Just started the normal one a few days ago and if it doesn't work will switch to R form.
Great video. I took Alpha Lipioc Acid for 2 months and it helped me with my burning nerve pain, then I heard about R- Lipoic Acid, I bought 100mg and I felt it was a bit strong for me so I went back on the Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg, and I am good.
Dear Dr Angel, I got diagnosed with diabetic peripheral neuropathy about couple years ago and along my research, I heard that France or some European countries have been using ALA to treat this affliction but I’m quite disappointed in the medical industry here in the U.S. Even my neurologist was not up on the latest treatment etc and just prescribed physical therapy. I’ve been using ALA less than a year now and I have not seen any noticeable difference; wish they had made it clear that we need to use tge type R. I think the one I’ve been using is not type R as the never indicated either way but a comment by a customer on Amazon had stated that this was not Type R. I will start looking for the type R now. Thanks for pointing this critical difference and giving me hope!
I took ALA and it worked overnight with my lower back pain. my R-ALA = 500 mg and S-ALA = 500 mg, is this ok to take? I'm holding till your response. keep up the good work!!
Thanks for reaching out! It would be better for you to take just the R- ALA and if it were stabilized that would be even better. You can use up what you got though. The product seems to be working for you. If you want other recommendations for a replacement once you run out, we will need you name, email and phone number and we can send my recommendation off to you.
I like the idea of eating sweet potatoes and spinach to get some extra ALA, but I did just read that those are high oxalate foods. Would you consider that to still be OK in moderation if you possibly are a little compromised in dumping oxylates consistently? I appreciate your information very much!
Thank you for reaching out! I do recommend the brand Geronova. But please be careful when buying online supplements and only buy directly from the company or use trusted sites like FullScript. I do have a protocol for Lipoic Acid in my FullScript, feel free to call my office if you are interested in checking it out! 517-883-2291
I started taking this to see if it would help with my chronic fatigue. My initial thinking was to help with some possible mitochondria dysfunction. Is it normal to get that kind of "die off" feeling from using it? And if it is... How long should it last before I question whether I should continue using it or not?
Though R- Alpha Lipoic Acid has the potential to help with mitochondrial cells, it is not the primary effect. What you may be describing is a Herxheimer or Herx reaction. Herxheimer reaction is also common when dealing with toxins removal protocols. It is tough to tell if it is a Herx reaction or a sensitivity to the alpha lipoic acid. That is rare but it does happen. Anytime you experience a potential herx reaction after changing nutrition, supplementation or increase exercise, the best case is to stop the supplement in this case all together and if necessary consult your physician. If the reaction decreases and there are no residual issues after 7-10 days, you may be able to start it up again at a lower dose and see if the reaction happens again. If you experience persisting symptoms or worsening symptoms stop immediately and consult your doctor or seek emergency help if warranted.
I've been taking 600 mg of Sundown NON-GMO Alpha Lipoic Acid. it doesn't say "R". I've been real sleepy a lot and take lots of naps. But still much pain in my feet.
So, if you have some peroneal nerve damage this is not something to expect results? Also, if you take it without food, be ready fr acid reflux, as this is an acidic supplement. With food, no issues.
@@MomentumHealthNeuropathyCenter I just want to be able to use my hands everyday without pain. I feel like I’m constantly taking Advil and Tylenol. It’s so hard. I’m only 45. I need my hands to work well😞
I bought Alpha Lipoic Acid made by Millenium, 500mg softgels but it doesn't say s or r I guess I'll have to contact the company, hopefully they will know what I'm talking about.
If the label doesn’t specifically state that it’s the “R” version, then it’s NOT the “R “ form. If it’s cheap, it’s not the R form. “S” means Synthetic, R means Real form

I just started to take alpha lipoic acid today and already feel a whole lot better. Thank you for info.
What was the dosage given by IV in the study? How many times a day?
And was the R version or the S version used in the study?

Did you end up getting the R type and if so how did it go?
Thank you for making this easy to understand, excellent!
I heard the r-alpha lipoic acid and Alpha lipoic acid is differen?? R-lipoic acid is more effective than alpha lipoic acid without R??
Good to know and timely for me as I consider this. Thank you
Thank you for making this easy to understand .
Yay! I have the R version of ALA Yes, I'm interested in the right foods. (New subscriber)

Would you mind sharing your bout with neuropathy (type as well and severity, symptoms etc.) and how you treated it and your outcome? Thanks!
Hi I have the 'Now Alpha Lipoic Acid 250mg free Radical Scavenger " is that the good kind ?
WHAT IS THE NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND?
So helpful, thank you!

Apart from the distracting and really annoying background music good presentation

I am taking the s form and it’s quite okay
Thank you ,amazing your job very helpful
Great info 👍 and well presented too!
Great presentation.
Thankyou from Alaska, But Please Focus on ALL the Food Sources
Is DL Alpha Lipoic Acid useless then? Thanks.
How long does it take for them to start working how long do you have to take them and how many you take a day
So this medicine should be taken by iv and really isn't any good in a capsule form is it? and how helpful is it with the liver
I've been taking 600 mg of Sundown NON-GMO Alpha Lipoic Acid. it doesn't say "R". I've been real sleepy a lot and take lots of naps. But still much pain in my feet.
I tried a basic brand and it worked too well so I rarely take it. Makes my feet and legs too sensitive. Aggravated my nerves.

Great question! If you have peroneal nerve damage ALA may help with the nerve damage and you can expect to see some results.
I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 40 yrs. The only thing wrong is my neuropathy. I have a pump so I don’t think it will lower my bg but was just wondering?
Thank you for reaching out, by "bg" do you mean your blood glucose?

hard to concentrate with the music going on.
