    Excellent video account Iain, unlucky but great when an apparently small fish develops into something significant after all!!

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  10 днів тому

      it does make our so called expertise shrink when we think that we have a small trout take a fly and then it turns out to be salmon . I don't think that there is rely experts on salmon fishing just some have more experience ........ and my lack of it showed there
      Cheers Iain. 🥃

    Nice take Ian seemed a decent fish love the way you accepted the loss. Nothing like enjoying your fishing. Better days to come. 😉

      I had a great day Paddy and having the fish fall of after playing it for a while is ok I had the best bits hooking and playing the fish , landing it might have been a bonus but I did have a great day
      Cheers Iain 🥃. PS I bet there are more days to come that the fish falls off Paddy 😉

      Thank you Norman I sometimes think that it is a good thing that the fish gets off I did hook it and had an exiting time playing it . I never had to handle it and that means it never had to suffer the sight of me close up all the best

    Nice to see you get hooked up so early on Iain, I reckon the take was 8 seconds after the cast!! So sometimes they do want to play!! Good fight even though it didn't stay on, well done. Sorry you got knocked out of the football, it was definitely a penalty. Still a valliant effort, and hope the next fish has it's picture taken, cheers Peter. What a great looking piece of river it is there.!!

      I have just watched your laddies come back from going home I think they will need to put more effort into scoring in their next matches . They looked a bit like the Scottish team wondering where the goal was but fortunately they found it in the last minute
      I do enjoy fishing the Upper Floors beat and wish I could spend more time there Cheers Iain. 🥃

      @@IainSB We have got some great players, but they don't yet play as a team. I'm not a fan of Southgate, hope he's gone very soon. Very lucky to get past Slovenia who are a good team. Cheers Peter.

    You got off to a good start with a really fit fish Iain. I don't think I would have been as philosophical if I had lost it...😂 Some nice pools but it looked like the water was on the low side. Lovely spot....tight lines 🍺🍺

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  13 днів тому

      It is a great beat to fish Mr Mazo. There have so many seals clearing the pools of salmon this year in the lower Tweed and now that they have gone back to sea it has taken a bit of time to get fish to settle in the pools Cheers Iain. 🥃

    That looked to be a strong fish. I admire your restraint, Iain. When they throw the hook, all you ever say is "Oh dear" or "It got off". Hoping the next one stays attached. You deserve it.

      when I first started editing my trips Laurie I did a silly thing. I think that it may have been on my second video. I gave out a rather large word when I lost a fish and when I was editing Frances said that I couldn't add that to UA-cam as children watch some videos . I spent hours trying to edit out my rant as I didn't really know the first thing about editing I have managed to do a bit more editing of bad words but still find it easier not to swear
      cheers Iain. 🥃

    Hi Iain, pity you lost he fish. However, the fish will always fight to get off. Any fight has a winner and a loser. I always credit a lost fish with being the winner!

      @IainSB  13 днів тому

      I have had quite a few fish fall off this year Nick and I never mind if I have them on for a while . It means I don't handle them and their survival must stand a better chance . when I have a fish pull at the fly and never get that first run I get a bit disappointed .
      the take and the fight are the best bits of fishing I have never felt too despondent when a fish falls off Cheers Iain 🥃

    Sir Iain ,as an avid follower of your channel i would love to purchase some of your Iain special flies please, I'm only kissing ass because your always on at my house and everybody says look how many fish he catches he's miles better than you, my reply is yeah but he loses fish as well 🤣🤣🤣 looked like a nice fish pal, unlucky...….but if you fancy selling me a few flies I wont say no🤣🤣🤣

    • @IainSB

      I haven't tied any flies for a while Adam I never seem to have the time I am fishing with flies that I tied a few years ago . I used to have a bit of a stock but I tend to give a few flies away when I meet anglers on the water. I have lost a few fish this year but I always look at it as having managed to hook them. Cheers Iain.
