Hi Iain, back on the Spey yet again and when you moved up to the second pool and I heard your reel started to scream , I dropped everything to look at it but could tell from your disappointment that it got off. Still a great video and again a great river. Cheers. 🍷Steve

the feeling of a fish pull at the fly always gets the heart pumping Steve and for it not to stay on for at least one run is enough to add a bit of disappointment . as I mentioned I hope to show the beat off once I get finished editing. Cheers Iain. 🥃

Hi Iain. I watched that a couple of times and have had the delight of the same experience a couple of times. With hindsight, do you think there is anything that could have been done differently - lifting earlier or later into it? Or is it just the way of the world!! Thanks again for a great vid!

There are some cracking pools on the Spey and the top pool on D beat must be one of the most inviting for any angler
      Cheers Iain. 🥃

It's the tug that's the drug as they say Paddy. there will always be another chance I hope that your rivers are now at a good level and you are out chasing a bit silver. Cheers Iain. 🥃

I am still enjoying fishing James . a few fish pulling at the fly gives a wee bit excitement and I will keep trying to get one that will stay on after I sharpen my hooks
      Cheers Iain. 🥃

Thats both of us had offerings on D beat now. Shame yours never stuck. We're getting closer. Lovely place to fish isn't it.

I think that we both have had two fish pull our string on D Tobby. As you say we are getting closer and the water should warm up a bit and help with the salmon becoming a bit more active
      Cheers Iain. 🥃

Hi Iain, I've still to get out this season as my days off the river has been unfishable so I'm enjoying these videos. Wanted to ask you- do you think salmon travel up in mating pairs? Quite often a make gets caught and then a female in the same spot.

I think that its just by chance as a lot of the time they travel in groups I was always told when I first started fishing that if you see one fish going past there are normally 6 or 7. I remember once about 35 years ago when fishing on the Tummel there was a fish showed but wasn't interested and the older more experienced angler decided the thing to do was fire a prawn in beside it ............ the pool started bouncing with fish trying to get away. we never know how many fish are in a pool and I think that its fortunate to get two but you could not predict getting a cock and then a hen Cheers Iain

I caught my first ever salmon in front of the hut at D beat 1980, the lodge was a bit different then!

I bet that you can recall every second of your catch Bruce and you will be able to replay it in full technicolour anytime you close your eyes . It's a great river to fish and beat D at Tulchan has some of the best pools Cheers Iain. 🥃

Beautiful day . Better luck next time out.Anything to do with the choice of fly or just cold water?

There were six of us on the beat Christopher and we were all fishing different tactics and sizes. I think that the river hight was allowing the fish to pass through the beat and further up stream.
      Cheers Iain. 🥃

I will have a lot of fun trying to get one to stick . I have met a lot of great anglers and had the pleasure of their company and that is a big part of going fishing as well as catching the odd fish
      Cheers Iain. 🥃
