Welcome to the world of Tina S. She studied classical guitar from ages of 6-13 when she switched to electric. From the ages of 14-17 she releases covers of some of the most difficult guitar solos/pieces ending with this masterpiece, then disappears. I've been supporting this young woman since she and her teacher (Renaud Louis-Servais) first released her cover of Eruption. Her high speed technical covers are great but my favorites are ones that require feel/emotion like For the Love of God, Altitudes, and The Loner. All fantastic and she adds her own style so they're not straight covers. Since you've been reacting to my favorite band (The Warning) and now Tina I decided to subscribe.
since you asked : someone counted and did the math - if I remember correctly it was 2540 notes over the course of about 6 min 8 sec for an average (!) of 7.08 notes per second... !!
If you're wondering, Tina plays 2,420 individual notes during this clip. A classical conductor said a few years ago when he watched this, "She didn't miss a single note".. Absolutely astonishing stuff. So sad she stepped away from uploading videos 6 years ago.
One of the most complicated songs for a piano, but played on a guitar. INSANE! You can see her holding the pic with 2 fingers and plucking with the other 2. She basically used all 10 fingers the whole time. I've never seen anything like this.
It isn't actually that difficult on piano. On guitar, like this? Yes. The piano is made for this. If you can play this decently on piano you are a medium level player. I know it's impressive, but it isn't actually difficult. There is a very big difference.

Obviously, this is absolutely mindboggling and belief-defying that a human being can achieve this level of physical dexterity, let alone a technical dexterity in the form of technique on ANY musical instrument. What remains unknown is the long-term effect of this level of strain on the physique of a musician who achieves and continues to build up ever higher levels of virtuosity on his/her instrument. Largely, this topic is terra incognita, because this is a relatively new phenomenon in the realm of musical performance, fuelled chiefly by the competitive pressure that the UA-cam has fostered and made it a worldwide phenomenon. So many young musicians are fired up and challenged by what they see on UA-cam, and the pressure to match - and then hopefully to surpass the skills and dexterity of those that impress them originally... One wonders what - if any - health problems this relentless drive to be faster and more perfect may produce over an extended period of such competition...
One commenter who claims to have counted says that the piece contains 20,000+ notes. Each one memorized. This is one of the best things I have ever heard.
Do some math, then you recognize it does not work. 6min30sek are 390 seconds. Let´s make it easy and say 400. So if she had played 20,000 notes in 400 seconds then this means 50 notes per second. This would cause an underling hum sound. 50 per second is 50Hz which is a well hearable tone. (mains hum). Realistically she plays an average of about 6.5 notes per second. Still incredible. With precision and for 6 minutes straight. What a talent.
"That's a lot of notes." Yeah, that's one of the things about pieces originally written for piano: they can have lots of notes all at once. Covering them on another instrument can be... challenging. This would not be an easy piece to play on guitar. I recently discovered that there are metal guitar covers of BWV 1080; I haven't gone and watched them yet -- I'm a little afraid to, in case they don't do a good job with my favorite piece of music. But I won't be able to resist for long.
