  • When I was only finding rugs that cost around $2000-$3000 I decided to find a way to do it myself. I've done a lot of rug projects and have learned from each try, and now I know the best and fastest way to do this project.
Supplies list for my rug projects (these are the exact brands and colors of rugs that I have specifically used for my past projects and from experience can say they're good): www.amazon.com/shop/taybeepbo...
Here is my tutorial for making a dual color & yin yang rug: reelCmHg-6...

This is cute but how does it hold up w fraying? Esp since theres no more finished edge, since it got cut off.

It doesn’t. You have to throw it away pretty soon.

I think those 'desire rugs' are partly well over $1,000 because they're made with wool, not acrylic and are sculpted at different heights by the look of the pictures.
Even if you bought a plain oblong white wool rug and created this hack, it would be well over £100. Acrylic rugs are always budget-friendly.
    Finished piece looks cute!

I was just about to say this. Those rugs are real wool so the price makes sense.

wool carpet are way much better quality but regarding those kind of design and or colors, i doubt you keep on this extravagenza for so long it could be worth the price. I personnaly owned several carpets in my life in crazy forms and colors and i was glad to not invest higher price as i was bored quite quickly. Not considering dirt, even if you respect bare foot and vaccuuming after few years it needs a professional cleaning and (at least in y country) it's extremely pricey.

I love your style bcoz my home is also colorful, different color of walls in each room.
Since I work with rugs, can I share some tips?
Try use a cutting mat instead of cardboard bcoz if your blade is sharp sometimes it can cut through the cardboard and leave scratches on your working surface.
To secure the yarns along the edges we sometimes run the hot glue (glue gun) lightly along the cut edges to avoid yarn fraying along the edge. That way yarns at the edge will be secure.
You inspire me, now I feel like redecorating my home. What I love about your home is the curve edge around the wall meeting the ceiling. Maybe I could do that to my wall by adding plaster. Any suggestion for that?

Yeah, if you want her to dox you for "copying" her work. Look up the disgusting video she made doxing an artist, a fan of hers, for following her DIYs - that she doesn't want anyone following. Ego can be so ugly.

I made those videos before I started UA-cam so they’re not as long and detailed but i think they’d still be really helpful! A ton of people tagged me in rugs they made from my original videos so they were detailed enough for people to learn from. I have them linked in the caption of this vid

Instead of using a box cutter , which can lead to unpredictable results, using a great pair of scissors is better. If you are only clipping through the rug’s backing , and not hacking through from both sides, then a clean desired result is the outcome.
PS - same goes for cutting faux fur

    • @Lolo_Schmidt
      @Lolo_Schmidt 6 місяців тому

      Fabric scissors would work well!

Several years ago i made a long furby with similar “fabric” and cut the pieces with good scissors, and I was STILL finding furby hair from the project years later in my apartment until I moved put. It was like goddam glitter; a curse that never goes away. Ever since then I’ve only ever cut fur fabric with a knife from the back, lest I be cursed once again.

    Hi everyone,
I did this DIY today and it turned out very great !! I bought an other rug because this one wasn't available in my country but it's a very similar one, in pink. It frayed a lot during the cutting so i would recommand having a vacuum lol (i don't). I'm going to run a hot glue gun along the edges to prevent it from fraying more, comment this in some weeks if you want to know if it worked (at least it will be usefull to someone).

      Hi everyone,
so i let it raw cut for some weeks / monthes and the bottom and top layers started separating and it was ugly so i glued the borders with a glue gun and it did not stay for long, SO i hand stitched allll along the border some months ago like 1 stitch every centimeter it took some time but that is working like a charm 🎉 it didn't move so i recommand

I would assume you'd have to do something to the edge. Most rugs are finished around the edges because otherwise just walking over them would be enough to cause fraying. Also some rugs will warp or stretch over time if the edges aren't overlocked. I hate when people do diys like this and end them with a product that may not even hold up to regular use. So wasteful
