  • My name is Devin and I'm a sports physical therapist who specializes in working with athletes and Olympic weightlifters. I have been battling persistent anterior knee pain, patellar tendinopathy, and a SLAP tear in my right shoulder that have significantly limited my ability to lift for the past year. Despite working for years with athletes, experiencing my own injuries gave me an entirely new perspective on navigating injuries, especially multiple concurrent injuries.
In the midst of the knee and shoulder rehab I tweaked my back doing snatch grip RDLs. I regularly treat these types of injuries and have had them before. I felt confident assessing what I could do, modifying, and proceeding as shown. This session was 2 days after the back tweak where it was bothering me to bend over, squat deep, and generally flex my spine. Not pictured were calf raises, clean pulls, and knee extensions. I continued modifications for 2-3 training sessions and within 10 days I was back 100%.
Don't overcomplicate how you respond to injuries. My hope is that this has some value for people dealing with multiple injuries at the same time which can be daunting and frustrating.
