      Yeah overloading the nordic curl like this really ups the ante and makes your work the whole way otherwise you're in for a rough landing. I can rep out about 12 full regular nordics but can't get a concentric weighted rep with more than 10-20lbs just yet.

    Is this supposed to prep u for full rom?

    • @BacktoBarbell
      @BacktoBarbell 5 місяців тому

      @@AaronButler66 if you're referring to full ROM push ups, sure it can be. But I usually only use it as a warm up, for rehab purposes (to reintroduce weight-bearing through the arms) or to specifically address scapular protraction if I think it's a weak point someone needs addressed.

    Nice bro, but in some way it feels like you are more focused on the 'dance' than what it comes down to: lift fucking trucks of plates

      Believe me I'd love to throw more on. But my knee and shoulder can't handle it. I'm very incrementally building back up. Training to improve joint load tolerance is not the same as training to improve performance

      @@BacktoBarbell no bro I'm not talking about the total weight. But it's more like you are practicing dancing with a barbell, which I think will create bad habits. Anyway, good luck!!!!

    Can a person having cervical spondylosis/spondylitis do this?

    • @BacktoBarbell
      @BacktoBarbell Рік тому

      That depends on the specifics of the case. For some individuals, the extension of the head off the table can increase symptoms.

    • @Harsh_Bharti
      @Harsh_Bharti Рік тому

      @@BacktoBarbell @BacktoBarbell I think for everyone who is suffering from cervical, extension of the head off the table can increase the symptoms.

    • @BacktoBarbell
      @BacktoBarbell Рік тому

      For some people this exercise is inappropriate. However, there are many people who benefit from working in greater cervical extension by performing a retraction and allowing the neck to extend off the table. It's a matter of identifying who would benefit based on the specific context of their case.

    How many reps sir. I just had rotater surgery.

    • @BacktoBarbell
      @BacktoBarbell Рік тому

      I would not recommend doing this if you just had rotator cuff surgery. It could put too much stress on the repaired area too soon. You should find a rehabilitation professional in your area to help guide you. What you do depends on the type of rotator cuff surgery and the specifics of your situation.

    What is this accomplishing?

    • @Idk-fj8is
      @Idk-fj8is Рік тому

      It is strengthening certain muscles. Sometimes these muscles are the reason for pain in lifts like bicep curls and bench press

    • @BacktoBarbell
      @BacktoBarbell Рік тому

      It can be a bit complicated to explain exactly why you would do this without a specific example. What the band does is give you something to push out against. By keeping the band tensioned you force some additional activation of the rotator cuff muscles. That said, sometimes you can substitute this for a regular press and it can help make pressing movements less painful. Other times I use this when I specifically want my clients to practice a pressing movement without letting the arms rotate inwards. I hope that helps!
