Elandan Gardens - Bonsai - Dan Robinson - 10/10/2021 - Early Fall

Take a quick stroll through some of the most amazing, one of a kind Bonsai! Just about every tree in this garden has been collected in a wild apart from a few that Dan has grown from seed over 30 years ago.
This video was to test my new lens out and get more familiar with it while filming some trees!

I find myself returning to this video every day. We have very long winters here so its always hard waiting for spring. Videos like this help me a lot.
Dan Robinson's garden and Bonsai in particular are some of the most inspiring to me, even though I've only seen them in books and videos. If you haven't already, be sure to read Gnarly Branches, Ancient Trees. This man's path to the art is incredible. He essentially INTUITED Bonsai through careful observation of trees in the wild before really getting involved with other artists. And if I'm not mistaken, he developed a root enhancement technique for drastically improving survivability of collected trees that we all use today! His work fascinates me. And I truly love how his aesthetic sensibilities are pulled almost exclusively from observation of nature rather than theory.
