Some of the first American airmen to join the air war over Europe were the volunteers of the RAF’s Eagle Squadrons. In 1942 they were transferred to the Mighty Eighth Air Force under the 4th Fighter Group, based in Debden, Essex. The 4th was the first fighter group to penetrate German airspace, the first to escort bombers over Berlin, and led the first shuttle mission from England to Russia. Under the indomitable leadership of Colonel Don Blakeslee, they became the highest scoring unit of the USAAF, destroying 1,016 enemy aircraft in the air and on the ground.
In this campaign you will join the 4th Fighter Group during the first week following the D-day landings, and relive every mission they flew exactly the way they happened 80 years ago. These were meticulously recreated based on original documents and personal accounts with a keen focus on the finest details, allowing you to firsthand experience what it was truly like to take part in ‘The Mighty Endeavor’, one of the greatest military operations in history.
Great job surviving that one! In real life only Blue leader, Kidd Hofer survived, all others were shot down.
Great work on the campaigns, you got anything upcoming I can look forward to?
Crazy! Is it possible to find on line the mission reports you used for the campaign? Would love to compare how my gameplay went compared to real life and I'm always curious to read real accounts!
@@matydrum there are book recommendations in the campaign info pdf, where the events are described in great detail
19:55 - "My aim is atrocious... check my OH BOY" 🤣
What a pleasure to see ol' Wolfie in an aeroplane again, just as I was about to go to bed as well!! Ah well, I'll stay up a little longer and watch this!!
What an even greater pleasure to see that your landings are still up to your usual standard Sir!!
Hahaha hey this landing would have been perfect if it weren't for the damage!!
True enough, I'll give you that... NOT as a Staff Sgt though!!@@Wolfpack345
Yeah
AND he didn't fly into any trees! (super old wolfpack345 video reference there haha)
In 'Bucket Of Bolts' no less!!@@ItsJustSteve
Very exciting to recognise places I'm familiar with. The smoke you see at 12:10 a train station called Saint-Aubin les Elbeuf on the line between Caen and Rouen. This is effectively the most western rail line to connect the north of France and the Normandy beaches, hence a very strategic target. The large meandering river is the river Seine. On your right (north) at 12:45, the smoke in the distance is around the city of Rouen, where you'll find one of the largest port and one of the largest rail depot and railyard in France at the time. Sadly I couldn't identify the bridge you bombed.
Wolfpack your DCS Campaigns are pure, unadulterated kino
Hey! That lead p-47 at 3:28 lived in my hometown! That's Francis Gabreski, the best p-47 ace of the war. Although according to the word of his wingmen he was a real jerk
Nice! Also there is a great irony in his biography - his parents emigrated form Poland, from town of Frampol. It was specific town, with main large square surrounded by streets on grid plan. From the air it looks like a giant bullseye, so Luftwaffe used it as a practice target. 90% of the town was destroyed, and never recovered pre-war population and size.
So, for this town Francis was a revenge from the grave :)
@@lukzombi8413i odpłacił się Niemcom stając się jednym z asów w USAF. Brawo On 😉
Just for general information, RPM up and throttle down should act as a slight bit more of an airbrake than pulling both back. It seems counter-intuitive but, give it a try.
You might have an easier time keeping position when following the leader in the descent.
I so want to grab the "No hand hold" sign.😁
It says not to... but why? shouldn't we test and find out? what's the worst that could happen? 😆
@@resurgam_b7 These are the question that keep me awake at night.
Can't think of a single thing that could go wrong.
"No hand hold"
Doesn't say anything about hands in plural... what if I use both hands?
And "hold"... what if I yank it instead of holding it?
@@turtle2720 What about other body parts... 🤔😏
"Oh its not that close" then the bullets pass feet from his aircraft "ok its close"
Looks like another great campaign from Reflected. There's no better shot in games or movies than a guy with a machine gun mounted to a vehicle in DCS. So I'm not surprised you got hit during that strafing run. As an added bonus, they shoot thru fog and trees too. You may consider playing around with the gyro sight too. That thing is really nice! Great video.
Glad the audio is fixed
I love the il 2 1946 music through the video❤
More! More! 😂 Churlish begging aside, this is a great series, I'm glad to see it continue!
I was wondering if you were planning on hitting that 190, or if you just wanted to scare the pilot 😆 Got to work on your gunnery a bit 🙂
It's crazy how fast that mission went from the ground troops being fish in a barrel to you and your flight being the target practice for the diving Jerry fighters.
Whoo!
The P-51 doesn't have to run very often, but when it does, it runs like a bunny.
Good thing for you.
Man I love the way you do mission/campaign series. I love when I occasionally check in and there's a backlog.
That was awesome! it's always a pleasure watching your content.
Man I love subs but these ole warbirds are some of the coolest things humans have ever made
19:56 "check my... OH BOY"
The pacific fighters theme at the beginning was a beautiful hit of nostalgia
I like these air combat games and great to see you survived. Next target, the lair of the 190's and 109's.
That landing was so buttery with the popped tire. You are the man!
It's so cool seeing Debden mentioned. I grew up in the area!
“how did the game go" "they went down swinging"
The jump cut is too perfect, hat tip wolf for not cheating and editing in a perfect hit😂. Swing and a miss.. guns 🔥 😊 17:40
You seemed to have lucked out meeting the entire Luftwaffe left in France although flying that deep into France was your best/worst chance of doing that. The Luftwaffe only had 4 squadrons of fighters and a bomber squadron available. You may have run into I/JG 2 Richthofen squadron which took off with its 19 FW 190 aircraft towards the Normandy coast, armed for the occasion with rocket launchers. Still congrats on getting home.
'Way way out there I see 5 flights of 4'
Thx youtube compression, I see fuck all.
Great mission tho. these are awesome to watch especially considering they are based on real sorties.
just a bit of advice for the future, don't even try to fire at your enemy air targets until they fill your crosshairs.
"Always looking for a spot to ditch" spoken like a pilot
Wolfpack is going to have an on camera fist fight vs Tom Hanks in the parking lot of a Texas Dairy Queen, this event will be life changing for both of them
Finally part three
2:30 that comment about air activity didn't age well hahaha, great video man !
The weather that day was cloudy with a chance of fighter bombers.
Great video. I remember having to get uncomfortably steep for dive bombing in MCFS3. I think you need to be 60°-70° down to use the gun sight to aim. I never figured out how to down the 190s tho
Reflected's missions in DCS warbirds is just something else to any other simulator or otherwise. I've been having a lot of fun flying the spitfire campaign Beware Beware also by Reflected, definitely recommend trying it out, Big show is also meant to be really nice.
Nice video Wolfie!!! Was worried for a bit that you were gonna get tunnel vision and get nailed. Good you got out.
What? That never happens!
any mission you can walk away from is a good one
WELL DONE WOLFPACK - made my night brother 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻……..
Wolfpack's DCS campaign is grat to watch alongside Masters of the air
Best way to win a fight is going 400 mph in the other direction. Only fight when you have the upper hand, otherwise get the hell out. That's how the top aces survived for the most part. And a bit of luck. Awesome.
Coffee and adrenaline and hypervigilence.
Thank you.
Just curious. Those screams of the allied pilots that occur every now and then within the fight.... They are very eery. Are those made for the mod or are those cuts from old original audio?
Great landing.
I was wondering when you're going to jump back into DCS and IL-2. They've been sorely missed.
Excellent! More please! 😁
L for "LOVE" 😏 Valentine's Day confirmed
Damn that was intense!
Love the vid, but it seems like your plane doesn't like it when you hold hands.
It was a strong action movie. I wonder if you counted any victory or at least damage to a bandit plane.
Great flight
My man, you gotta learn some formation basics... you burned fuel hamfisting the throttle in the climb out and when trying to catch your element lead :D
More DCS please
20:00 check my OH BOY 😂
Great mission, it was very kind of the Americans to help the British war effort by installing the Merlin engines out of the spitfire in their P51's.....
Although I ly a few were implemented.
In August 1942, the Royal Air Force (RAF) began a program to re-engine just five Mustang airframes with the improved Merlin 65. They were designated the Mustang X. The first flight came on Oct. 13, 1942
The Packard V-1650 is the US licenced version of the Rolls-Royce Merlin Engine and they produced 55,511 of them almost exclusiively for the P-51.
Hope to see IL2 tank simulator
Curious: prev mission had prob with Starboard Drop Tank NOT feeding; was that a bug or a feature? Did P-51's experience sporadic drop tank feed?
Thanks again for great missions!
I'm curious why the reupload. Likely a problem with the sound?
No game sound after a cut about 18min in
Yeah messed up sound when I rendered the video. Odd issue
is there a campaign in the pacific? i would love to see carrier vs carrier fights
I don’t get why they did not make it so fuel comes out of both wing tanks at same time instead of one wing tank at once
Who’s doing the voice acting? It’s terrific
Thank you for the compliment! There are a number of us who Reflected Simulations calls upon to do voice-overs. I (Hedge) played the role of Colgate Fighter Control, the one you hear at the beginning of the mission. Other (more noteworthy) VAs are Bogey Dope, Tricker, Juice (of the Air Warfare Group), Reflected himself, "Amy" Dooley and Clutch, all well respected DCS UA-camrs or content creators. It's such a huge compliment, at least to me, to read a comment from someone who really appreciates our work. Thank you so much. :)
Many thanks,
~ "Hedge" Rowe
Which version of TrackIR do you use ?
Do you get your external shots using the mission track? My tracks tend to end up being pretty inaccurate when it comes to any combat
I love this, I'm really ignorant of flight Sims but are there modern generated interactive campaigns like the old IL 2 games?
yeah check the DCS ones. There are campaigns for jet fighters, helicopters and apparently one of the better ones has you flying an a10 warthog tank killer
What happened to the guy sneaking in one last mission?!
haha lol he fixed the audio
Yeah that was a really odd issue. Took some troubleshooting
So what exactly went wrong with the first upload? :P
No game sound after a cut about 18min's in
👌👌🍻🍻🤗🤗
Is this multiplayer?
No, it is a mod campaign
If you want to see someone fly a real P51 and give step by step instructions on what he’s doing look up Kermit Weeks on here.. He is out of Florida and has a plethora of military prop planes. Really cool to watch.
Love the vids! 👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏻
I once saw a PBY Catalina going down the road on a flat bed or two on I-95 southbound near St. Augustine. It was looking like someone was going to start a restoration project, so I thought of him. I asked him in a comment on one of his videos. He actually replied that it wasn't his. It made me wonder who else could be doing it.
