Another good shiny is Sandygast. It turns black, like volcanic sand. I’m pretty sure the shiny version of Paldean Wooper, Galarian Meowth, and the Hisuian Starters reference their base form’s colors too.
Wooper and Meowth are stretches, the Hisuian Starters are just as safe and boring as the Galarian Birds, and I WILL die on that hill Sandygast I think is an example of "just make it black" that makes sense because of black sand beaches
It makes sense, too. Since they’re like the same pokemon but changed from being in a different environment, it’s like their old, repressed color genes were the ones they got.
@@hunterdoss7720 It doesn't actually since their Pokedex entries use language that suggests they might not even be regional variants and were just completely separate Pokemon coincidentally named the same thing. plus the choice of colors is just lazy when they could've gone all out with unique colors. Instead it's just "reference Kanto birds" which is such a cop out
@@dorkenspache8353honestly I think them having the original bird colors is already great. I wouldn't really care for any of them if they had other colors. What would they even do, make moltres' flames blue? Oh wow! That's the color fire is!
@@FlurrysDumpster So you completely strawman me by suggesting they just change the colors of the flames to blue when I just said they could've done something much cooler for the shinies. Because just "oh wow, they're the original birds again" is a lazy cop out. It takes out any of the artistry of trying to find another colorscheme that works well together. The only one of the three that I think looks remotely good is Articuno and even then, I'd still make the blue a bit closer to indigo and change the white on the mask and belly to be a deep cobalt blue since I think the white mask looks bad. Zapdos is tricky but I think having the orange turn kind of an amber brown color would work well with the yellow eyes and black accents. Moltres I would make the black a more midtone grey while the flames are bright white with a hot pink eye. The thing is the shinies they have don't look necessarily bad, it's just lazy. It was fine with Grimer and Muk since their Kantonian and Alolan forms had inverse colors, but with the Galarian Birds there was really no reason behind doing it other than a callback. Shinies should be an exercise in finding a different colorscheme that also works, and it's kind of just a cop out easy answer to do what the Galarian birds do for regional variants. It's on par with the multitude of Gen 7 shinies that change only the accent colors and nothing else
It's funny that there's actually real life "shiny" sheep of same color. Sometimes a black lamb is born in a herd of all white ones, it's just a random mutation that happens sometimes, but unless selected for, it's one per severa thousands of white sheep.
Pigs can come out in many colours depending of the breed. Lechonk's line is black and dark brown because there are based on the iberian pig, which are raised for making the famous "pata negra" ham.
The Treasure of Ruin shinies are also satisfying in how their colors get shuffled around between the 4 members: Wo-Chien gets Chi-Yu's red, Ting-Lu gets Wo-Chien's green, Chien-Pao gets Ting-Lu's brown and Chi-Yu gets Chien-Pao's light blue.
I made a new file to play Scarlet again and I spent so long trying to shiny hunt in the beginning, about a week went by and nothing. Decided I didn’t like my character anymore and deleted the save to remake my lad. The second I finished the catching tutorial, I turned around to find a shiny Lechonk. Caught her immediately, named her after my bf’s dog who was put down a few days before I found that shiny (we would always say she looked like a Lechonk), and she’s been apart of the team ever sense, and she’s an amazing wall in battles as an Oinkologne. Their shinies will forever be extra special to me just because of that
I recently found both shiny Galarian Articuno and Zapdos in PoGo. Absolutely stoked. Still sad I missed the shiny distributions with the Sword and Shield online competitions.
The Birds of Galar most definitely should *not* have adopted the colours of their Kantonian counterparts. Articuno-G should have been teal, Zapdos-G blue, and Moltres-G should have gotten villainous yellow-green flames.
For the Kalos legendaries shiny form, it also references the french flag, with Xerneas being first with blue and white, and Yveltal being second, with white and red. For Zygarde however, the french flag is in his 100% form, where you can clearly see the red-white-blue patern on his torso.
@bouncycomix No source, apparently. I just checked and it seems to be a rumour that I inadvertently helped propagate. That makes if worse imo, because 95% of the first 4-5 generations of shiny mons are dogshit, which means they're dogshit by choice.
Chi-Yu's shiny is so good and the fact you can't get it legit grinds my gears. I want the blue gold fish gosh darnit! Another satisfying shiny is Spidops. Idk why, but the red works soooooo much better for its design than the yellow and green, imo.
The Kanto forms for the Bird Trjo doesn’t follow the same design, because their shinies were made in Gen 2. They could update the forms. But TPC doesn’t really update the designs that often, besides addition little details like more fur or detailed scales/skin

In a Similar way to the Flittle and Lechonk lines, the Smoliv Line turns into Black Olives
Their olives turn black
And that's about it...
That's the color an olive is!
@InkKidGaming Smolivs main body turns yellow, and dolliv and arbolivas leaves turn to a much darker green
@Azzatron5000 Shiny Smoliv's body turning yellow is suppose resemble olive oil
I really like that one too, smoliv gets even cuter
The Delta birds having the shinys of the standard versions of the birds is great
I loathe that. The Galarian Birds' Regular forms were awesome, but these colours did not do them justice in my opinion.
