Please make more of these, your taste in music is incredible!! I've never found so many instant favorites on one channel. LOVE the obscure oldies. Keep up the great work!!
Hey there @ShiningDanny, Thank you so much for your kind support! It has definitely been a little while since I have uploaded anything. It’s been crazy going off to college and adjusting to a new setting lol 😂. I will be home for multiple breaks starting in a month with thanksgiving being the first one. I hope to upload some more of my rare Doowop records to my channel then! I’m also a collector of many other genres such as rare blues, Jazz and Rockabilly 45s & 78s. Might post some of that to the channel as well. Stay tuned for more! Thanks Again 😊
Super great post I love 78s I get very excited when i see a fortune 78 Every record you played is super fine I have the 2 Swans records on fortune 78. Got them way back when from Val . Keep them spinning
Might want to edit the dead air out of your show. Just a thought. Some good tunes you chose. Not sure they all qualify as "doo-wop," but good nevertheless.
Josephgoldbach2109 Many of the records in this comp are styles that have elements of doowop or are styles that lead to it’s existence and also what became of it. While not all solemnly doowop, they are all very important in the history of the style itself!
Hey williamhepfer8956, From what I can find, he actually was! Check out this link to the Discogs page with the groups history. He’s also in the photo of the group in lower middle row. Take a look! 😁 www.discogs.com/artist/2115449-The-Five-Crowns?anv=The%20Crowns%20(Lead%20Vocal%20Ben%20E.%20King)&filter_anv=1
I am just reading up on this as well. It’s tricky because there are multiple sources that talk about him being an “original bember”. However, I just came across one talking about how he didn’t join until 1955. Thanks for your help, it’s nice to know that there are other people out there that know about these things as well 😅
The 5 crowns were located on west 115th street and 7th avenue harlem nyc I lived one block away An original member moved to the harptones four blocks away Marty now from jersey😊
I really enjoyed your show! I have all of these records. There are some songs on 78 that I don't have. If you have any of these records, can you please play these songs on your next 78 show? Eddie Beale Fourtette - Rompin' And Stompin'/Slowly Go Out Of Your Mind (Recorded in Hollywood 175) Clantones - Its No Sin/Some Day (Ebony 1020) Larry Corona - Lonely Heart/The House On The Hill (Fortune 508) Eddie "Tex" Curits - The Candy Man/The Girl I Left Behind (Gee 7) Deep River Boys - Give Me A Break, Don't Break My Heart!/If I Had To Do It All Over Again (Beacon 9142) Dixieairs - The Governor (Prestige 2001) Five Turbans - Christmas Prayer/Yuletide Story (Deb 502) Thanks for your consideration. John
Hey John! We have chatted before via Discogs. You have a very fine collection that shares a lot in common with mine! Although, I remember you said you had donated some. So nice to hear from you again! Yes, I will look into playing these on a future show for sure! I need to figure out how to get the audio but from a different place or maybe even get some of the records themselves. In the meantime, happy listening! Thanks 😊
Just tuning in now. It’s been a long long time by the Elgins is truly a great song by them.
