The gulf in natural ability here is frightening. Davis, great tactician and all round snooker player, but in terms of sheer potting ability and talent Ronnie is in a totally different league.
3years before this match, in 1990 when Ronnie had 14yo, told the presentator of a show that steve was his idole, what a proud for himself , brilliant player !! 🇩🇿

As an American, I totally agree. Amazing talent, and when you consider that it's a 12'x6' table with less relative pocket clearance, it's even more impressive.
You know he is a natural at snooker when at 17 he wiped the floor with Steve Davis . Gone on to prove he is one of the best ever in the sport . But my favorite player of all time is still Jimmy White .
his speed of play means he can think that fast tactically as well. it's his supreme confidence - what constantly amazes me is his quick and razor sharp accuracy in his calculations of geometry of his cue ball off of rails over the huge distance of the table.
My two favourite players of all time. Steve Davis was my favourite for years, always Mr Cool and a gentleman and then my rivalry with Ronnie O'Sullivan and his "no mucking about" when playing was really something. Hard to choose. I just hated those players who took ages taking a shot even when the one they were about to make was obvious. It was infuriating. Really happy to see this game. Just miss the booze and the cigs and the huge mustaches, sideburns of the end of the 70s beginning of the 80s...(just joking).
I remember watching this seventeen year old and seeing the game of snooker go to a higher level. Here 2024 he is the forty eight year old who is becoming the snooker machine he can be. His head and his demons are all sorted! and number eight World Snooker Trophy in March will be the iceing on the cake and put the history books to rest for a while! Rock on Ronnie. Cheers to 2024.
Its crazy to think that he has actually under-performed , if his head was right he would have won a lot more earlier on ( side note - world championship always begins half way through April and ends on first bank holiday in May-not March) .

Even at 17 years old, you can’t miss a ball against Ronnie, he will make you pay. And then the disrespect by Davis by standing on Ronnie’s long pot on the red, unbelievable, like he was going to get another chance, lol.
That wasn’t easy, hampered by a red and forced to play with a ton of right hand side. Not surprised he missed it, almost impossible not to push the white a little to the left, which is what he did.
the referee was picking up the potted balls hella fast. I bet he was thinking: maybe one day I can team up with this guy and "we" can do the fastest 147 ever
With health Ronnie may be the first to win Majors 50 years apart. Only 21 more to go. I hope his ambition for the sport keeps him going towards it. This is probably the posters source where of course a look at history of Uk championship will show him as six times winner of course
Didn't like Steve or Stephen much when they played. Mainly due to Jimmy and supporting him. As I've gotten older I love watching Steve play, he's also a great commenter and has great humour.
Yeah which was a refreshing surprise when he started commentating. Considering as a player. He was the most sour faced miserable twat going 🤣
Commentator.
Это было захватывающее зрелище! Ронни так молод в этом видео, видно что это очень перспективный молодой человек. Всегда смотрю за его игрой и это всегда очееь впечатляет.
2 legends of the game from
2 different eras.
I will be watching this young man, can't wait to see if he reaches his potential stay tuned!
Like the way Ronnie potted the pink to get it out of the way & back on it's own spot 👌
Steve you have been my snooker legend, Ronnie you are the genius and GOAT..
The gulf in natural ability here is frightening. Davis, great tactician and all round snooker player, but in terms of sheer potting ability and talent Ronnie is in a totally different league.
that Ronnie kid has some potential if he keeps playing like that, one to watch for the future i think
In the beginning of the video you texted that Davis upto then won four uk titles. He had already 6 uk titles.
3years before this match, in 1990 when Ronnie had 14yo, told the presentator of a show that steve was his idole, what a proud for himself , brilliant player !! 🇩🇿
The table looks so slow, I kept thinking the cue ball was going to go further than it did. Thought Ronnie would be the youngest world champion, but that's one record he left for Stephen.
Yes the action on the ball in the initial stage seems so much but then it just dies down
We must remember, Davis was still a tour de force here.
Not really. He was on his way down by this point.
It's the Masters 😂, only the best, he's number 2 in world here. He won masters 4 years after this and was number 2 4 years after this plus countless other championships. He hadn't tailed off, there was a certain Steven Hendry hit the baize
By '97 Steve was number 10. He won the masters but was going out of most tournaments in the 1st and 2nd rounds. No, he was on his way out.
He was definitely on the way down by this point, only won a handful more tournaments in his career. Hendry had completely took over for the decade with White, Doherty and Parrott amongst others all more consistent by now.
Who would have knew Ronnie would become the best ever Snooker player! 😉
Ronnie himself.
I know this video is about Ronnie but first reaction on watching it was Wow I'd forgotten how silky Steve's cue action was
"Bad luck Steve" as Len Ganley said. What an amazing talent Ronnie O'Sullivan is!
Messi of Snooker World. They were both stunning at the age of 17. What a talent. I salute you GOAT.
I remember watching him for the 1st time in amsterdam during a wosr tournament in 1991 didnt know he was ronnie knocking balls for fun
Steve davis had the best cue action in the game..
Interesting young man. Really had his 15 minutes here, but I don't think, that we'll hear much about him in the future.
Looking at this in retrospect, it is remarkable to see that he has the same mannerisms that he has now as he did at 17 years of age
Back before his opponents just sat there with a resigned look on their face. This guy still looks hopeful that he'll get another chance at the table.
The control he has on the cue ball on the last 8 remaining balls is outstanding. At that age playing that well is amazing. Snooker is no joke.
He hardly wiped the floor with Davis, winning by 3 frames is not a floor wipe.
@@TheStupidcommenthe wiped the floor with him and then shat on his head
@@TheStupidcomment comment section is full of Ronnie fan boys though....
Mister Snooker !!!! Always on Top !!!! 👑
Watching Ronnie play at pace you could kinda tell he was special! And still is……
his speed of play means he can think that fast tactically as well. it's his supreme confidence - what constantly amazes me is his quick and razor sharp accuracy in his calculations of geometry of his cue ball off of rails over the huge distance of the table.
Who us here after Ronnie won his 77th title.
all of us.. this video was uploaded 14 hours ago
@@UaExRacer i get that but that was for those who didn't know
@@025umarfarooq5 know what?
He should have at least 100 by now. Such a waste
Seeing how the game has changed so much is crazy.
That kid is really good , he will definitely be world champion one day,, good luck to him
Dunno about that, he plays a bit slow imo
:D best comment ever
@@erinling8908 this isn’t ping pong, what do you expect
@@T1LL3R 😅
Do he have a left handed win yet?
Hard luck Steve said the ref 😂
They don't know who is growing up. The Rocket
Sharp observation 😄🤙
I had a giggle at that too 😂
Just love to watch this guy play (btw @Daniel O’Sullivan who would have thought that snooker fans could be so wooden headed) and am looking forward to the coming weekend with a mixture of anticiptation and fear…..Goats are like Highlanders, there can only be one!
Even at 17 years old, you can’t miss a ball against Ronnie, he will make you pay. And then the disrespect by Davis by standing on Ronnie’s long pot on the red, unbelievable, like he was going to get another chance, lol.
Needed 2 chances and missed a simple black off the spot.... looks like you can miss a ball afterall.
ronnie in snooker , phil in darts . to keep that mental ability and skill is crazy .
The confidence of youth + Ronnie of course 📦✅
So eerie without commentary!
Steve missing an easy shot on 10 you don’t get away with that now. You have to be winning the frame from there.
It was'n easy for me
That wasn’t easy, hampered by a red and forced to play with a ton of right hand side. Not surprised he missed it, almost impossible not to push the white a little to the left, which is what he did.
@@deborahmoore6214 your absolutely right there… hampered I knew he wasn’t gonna pot that…
Ronnie missed an easy black at 6.20. He got away with it.
Steve should have opted for black rather than the hampered pink. Also safety he left the long red and white was well off the baulk cushion.
the referee was picking up the potted balls hella fast. I bet he was thinking: maybe one day I can team up with this guy and "we" can do the fastest 147 ever
With health Ronnie may be the first to win Majors 50 years apart. Only 21 more to go. I hope his ambition for the sport keeps him going towards it. However, doing or not doing my little scenario does not change whom he has become.
Just imagine back then telling someone in the audience, 'one day we will have to explain who that guy playing Ronnie was'.
Let's see if he can win majors 30 years apart first.
As good as Ronnie was then, it's interesting to see the difference in his cue action then and now. He's truly perfected his craft over the years.
Let me tell you. You might not believe me when I say this but this kid has potential to be the best snooker player ever
My two favourite snooker players. Great game.
Как молоды они были!
About 17. They? The other one is old
@@abdulbasit-cn9ek it's a russian idiom. Don't take it literally.
Quite a treat for those of you who weren't born when this event occurred.
Imagine your at the highest level. One of the best. And you get compelled humiliated by a 17 yr old Bahahaha classic
Hendry took snooker to a new level with his pack splits early on .
Enjoyed this with no commentators, wish all matches were like this, or at least with the option to mute them but still hear the sound of the game.
We forget how good Steve Davis was in his day
That O'Sullivan kid looks sharp...
...🤔I suspect he may have a future in this sport.
There was never a better player, not then, not now, never will there be a better player than the rocket 🚀
That young lad will go places 👌 👏 👍 🙌 💪 🔥 😁
Snooker has never or will ever be played as quickly and precisely as this boy/man plays it. Usain bolt, Phil Taylor, Jordan, osullivan, all tbe in their field of sports.
Remarkable confidence and poise.
We will never be seen player like Ronnie again is history 😢
