yeah, I had to watch this to see the runs he did when not on Tango's stream. The 6 extra tomes was insane. I thought the 14 submitted tomes was crazy but he acquired 20 tomes in total.
28:52 and 1:24:35 I believe what Etho did was make use of mob ai's preference to wander in the direction they're pointing. He was able to angle the ravagers looking at him, so that when they lost line of sight, and started wandering, they'd scoot themselves away.
They will track you through blocks for a few moments until they de-agro. Hypno has been using this for a while now. I'm guessing Etho picked the trick up from him recently?!
mobs don't prefer to go forwards when wandering, they choose a nearby solid block and path to that. what's happening is that the pathing algorithm sees no actual way for the ravager to get to etho, so it simply prefers getting as close as possible, even if "as close as possible" means there's a wall, or a floor in between them. then it looses LoS and that's it.
@@Themoonisachees Yeah, but when they randomly wander, they also seem to either path directly in front of them (assuming it's a valid location) if they choose to move immediately, or they stand still for a bit and slowly turn a random direction before they decide to move again. They don't usually whip around and start moving back the way they came right off the bat. So they may choose a random valid block to pathfind to, but I suspect the block chosen is within their line of sight. If so, then if LOS is broken while they are facing a particular direction, there's a high likelihood they'll start wandering somewhere along that direction as well if they don't just sit still entirely for at least a couple seconds.

Just a reminder, but Tango's floor tracking system for which floor gets ember and treasure drops can handle people going down, can handle people coming back up, buck can't handle people going down, then up, then back down. This means, when Etho did the maneuver and temporarily went back up to level 2, before returning to level 3, all treasure and ember drops went to level 2, instead of level 3.

@@7angels844 4 more tomes* not 2. He got 1st* over 2nd place, not 2nd over 3rd.
Hypno submitted 10, not 12 and Etho submitted 14.
@@7angels844 how are u wrong in every single way haha
First couple minutes of the video:
"Oh right! They build things on Hermitcraft; they don't just play Decked Out all day."
I love how the dungeon instantly punishes Etho the moment he gets even slightly cocky. Also god bless Tango for undirectly giving us guaranteed weekly Etho content!
Etho: Wins with 14 tomes
Hermits: Oh no! But he wasted some :)
*Akatsuki Music starts playing*
Etho: Drops phase 3 video with 6 tomes in storage for phase 4
Hermits: O_O
Gem fangirling over etho is so good. She’s just one of us that actually gets to play with him 😂😂
100% this lol
except she regularly murders him
@@maris_molotov That’s just cause she loves him so much. It’s like, when you see a cute animal you just wanna squish it. She squishes etho with PvP. 😂😂
Honestly a lot of them are like this. Etho is one of the originals so it makes sense. Who doesn't love Etho?
Big brother etho teasing younger sibling Gem is hilarious 😂 I am loving this banter
Can almost taste the salt in chat from Gem
I was wondering if Etho was going to use that bit in his intro, and he actually did!😆
Almost? Gem be a salt crystal at this point on account of all those keys that keep dripping on Etho. Imagine if Tango let the players keep all the keys they haul with them, Gem would be livid. :))
Just like last week I watched the runs on Tango’s VOD and then here, I’ll happily be doing it again. What an incredible set of runs from our champion
I love how many hermits also watch Etho runs live on Tango channel😂
yeah, I had to watch this to see the runs he did when not on Tango's stream. The 6 extra tomes was insane. I thought the 14 submitted tomes was crazy but he acquired 20 tomes in total.
same here! just as enjoyable as watching them from tango's freecam
The Black Mines are more suspenseful in POV, even though it kinda sucks to not be able to see 40% of the time
Gem and Etho's banter is incredible, i could watch hours and hours of this
28:52 and 1:24:35 I believe what Etho did was make use of mob ai's preference to wander in the direction they're pointing. He was able to angle the ravagers looking at him, so that when they lost line of sight, and started wandering, they'd scoot themselves away.
He's a master Ravager tamer I tell ya'
Exactly right, I would've never thought of that if I hadn't seen him do it. That's a brilliant use of highly niche game mechanics.
Etho had me dying at 1:28:10 “ Do a quick little Willie check here.”😂
Gem and Etho is my absolute favorite duo. Congrats on this round.
Watching ethos runs almost makes the dungeon look easy. Watching everyone else makes you realise it's not and he's just unbelievably epic
Calling us spoiled is an understatement. Thats this evenings plans covered
Okay, you know tango did a darn good job when youre literally biting your fingernails when Etho did that first level three run in this video. The wardens are terrifying!!!
Edit: changed to family friendlier language
Bdubs: "She's a saint you know!"
*smash cut to Etho switching to a bed named "A Saint Bernard"*
It's the little things.
More decked out, and the best intro! Love Gem and Etho together!
I love Gem and Etho's dynamic
The two Canadians just chilling
2:05:48 cleo's laugh 🤣🤣🤣 She was done. Good job etho.
Perfect time stamp *chefs kiss*
My favorite dynamics I usually don't get to see that have cropped up from Decked Out 2 has been Etho and Tango; and Etho and Gem.
There are a lot of hermits that have great dynamics with Etho I find. Impulse, Cleo, Pearl, Cub, and so many more
The Gem and Etho interactions have easily made me want to watch more of Gem's stuff
@@karililjendalYea, like Pearl and Joe interactions. Before Decked Out, they were a rarity, but they're so wholesome
Gem is so sweet. "I HATE HIM! (positive connotation)"
Tango slamming his desk because of lucky ravager pathing gives me life.
EDIT: lowkey loving the 2 hour episodes of just decked out
It’s been just over 15 years for Etho on UA-cam!! Congrats!! Just wanted to put this here because he would never say it himself but PLEASE consider becoming a channel member! He doesn’t advertise it but it’s a way to support creators directly. I’m a channel member because I appreciate your videos and style so much (havent played Minecraft in years) and hope you know your content has helped more than you could possibly know. I was 7 years old when you started uploading but it wasn’t until I was 10 that I started watching. In those 12 years, so much in my life has been inconsistent and challenging, yet your videos always brought me a sense of comfort and I can truly say your positivity, dedication to your values and craft, and humility have inspired and helped me overcome difficulties and losses in my personal life. I was just cracking up rewatching Captive Minecraft 4. Thank you so much again! - Benny ❤️
Just hit my 3 year red badge. I'm happy even if Etho takes my $2 and tosses into the nearest lava pool :)
I don’t remember when I joined but I agree so much I’ve loved his content for years now
The only channel I subscribe to on UA-cam.
Totally agree! Especially because Etho would never ask for it himself. But he’s been providing quality content for years and deserves all our support
its a small price to pay for over a decade of entertainment
Etho treating us well with a 2 hour video
We eaten good tonight
It's insane how Etho has one of the best decks of all the Hermits, he handily won this phase and already has 6 tomes to carry over to the next phase 😮
Man is a Canadian with the german efficiency buff
@jsw973 Canadians def have a Barbaric Rage, lol
When they feel threatened, they go on the offensive with the strength of a polar bear lol
@@baseballjustin5 To my understanding, this is the basis for Hockey.
@shipwreck9146 have to coral the energy somehow lol
It hurt my soul a bit when Keytho missed an ember at 1:47:40 in the amethyst
That moment at 40:40 with Tango snickering at Etho's upcoming misfortune was hilarious to watch from Tango's POV, with Etho sneaking into frame and right back out again.
Got a link to Tango's POV?
@@readingchameleon I don't at the moment, but I believe it's the VOD called "Etho Enters the Black Mines" on the TangoTek2 channel.
The bed Etho's holding towards the end, being called A Saint bernard is just pure comedy gold... Lol
Another 2 hour video! Holy mother of Bdubs. Thank you so much, Etho ❤
I should not be giggling every time etho says “do a Willy check” but here I am. 😀
It took me way too long to realize that the level 2 ship and One Eyed Willy were direct references to The Goonies for this reason 😭
@@YaBoiGabe31Yup! In Bdubs' episode when he built the ship, Tango specifically mentions The Goonies as the inspiration
Between Willie and the deck jokes DO2 is sure generating a lot of great out-of-context quotes 😅
2:05:48 cleo and grian laughing together here sounded so musical almost harmonious
Etho: Don't you giggle at me
Tango: Proceeds to cackle
i think as etho fans we all need to thank the mega-mastermind-lord-of-all Tango for making decked-out 2, providing us with so much of Etho content!
I love how happy tango gets when etho gets a level 3 compass lol. he really loves watching people s̶u̶f̶f̶e̶r̶
play his game
Also the end when bdubs kept looking over at etho like "how many tomes do you have" was funny.
2:06:06 why is the bed named "A Saint Bernard" lol
2:06:03 Bdubs says "she(his mother) is a saint! "
@@Salamander96 Good catch!
Team Canada throwback. I think it was Pause who used that line on Etho originally haha
@@Lucas43434omg yes!! I just commented the same thing trying to find the OG clip! I think it was Ruins of the Miecrackers or Diversity because it was a Vex map?
@@YaBoiGabe31 neither of those are Vechs maps if that's what you meant (iirc Etho's only played those either solo or with OOGE). They're CTM maps though although diversity only technically so
I’m addicted to watching etho play this game
Not just Etho, ALL the hermits.
@@MCSleymourthere is something special about etho. I never watched his content much but I found him again when decked out 2 started and have become addicted.
@@mightbeahuman3442 Oh Snappers!
I don't know what to do when I get Etho videos this long. I'm so used to soaking up every last bit of Etho content so quickly that I don't even realize the time has gone by. Thank you for your content, Etho. We appreciate it.
Split it into 4 episodes :)
The real easter egg was the Ruins of the Mindcrackers references we made along the way lmao. But seriously, gg to Etho! What an incredible string of runs. And kudos of course to Tango for making such a sick game. Looking forward to seeing what future phases hold!
I literally got shellshocked seeing etho's base like "oh yeah this isn't a server based purely on minigames lmao"
ikr, I thought I'd clicked on the wrong video for a second
"minigames"
I've been glued to Tango's streams whenever Etho runs and now I get to watch it all again in 1st person. Perfection! Thank you, Etho!
1:05:00 - I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Especially when you invited Cub in. Hilarious.
the fact that you are starting phase 4 with 6 tomes, and are comfortable enough to consistently get 40+ embers is insane. phase 4 is gonna be sooo good
Love the Gem interactions. More co-ops with her in the future would be great
You know Etho is the goat when the first comments on his video aren’t “first”, it’s 20 people screaming with joy “YEEEEESSSSS”
I’ve seen a majority of these runs thru Tango’s stream and I’m still hyped for them regardless, but the unseen ones are on a whole other level of excitement. Congratulations on surviving your first two deadly runs and winning the phase! Go win this whole thing!!!
Hearing Etho say “we gotta blaze it” is the greatest thing.
Thank you for ending with Bye-bye. I was quiet sad last EP when you didn’t say bye to us. Great run Etho. Thank you for producing so much content for us
1:04:54 even Tango's redstone can't handle the power of "Etho, Father of Redstone".
This is show us the fact that good people have +999 Luck... Well done Etho...
Did Tago say that on a livestream or how do you know that? I mean, why wouldn't it change back to floor 3rd when you insert another key?
Etho knows, but strategically forfeits the treasure when necessary. He's done it a couple times, been told off by Tango, and been perfectly fine with it lmao
@@tobelix6397 Yes, from many of Tango's streams. It's a "loop" of droppers above locked hoppers, and it's set up in a way that you can't "go back down."
interesting
@@BlahCraft1 Thanks for the clarification. Based on your reply and other comments, I figure it's more of a game design desicion than a technical problem. Because I'm sure Tango could develop a system to handle this type of situation.
I'm not a fangirl but I sure do giggle and squeal like one when I see a 2 hour etho vid.
fr
You are not a fangirl just a Etho girl
oh my god, another 2 hour etho episode??? we’re being spoiled, this is too good
"Tango, you're a big fan of mine. You dont want that to happen." What a chad.
I just LOVE these longer/less edited videos. I definitely appreciate the ones where more editing has gone into (per minute at least, I assume that editing such a long video can't be easy), but every now and then having some like this is a nice treat. While edited ones are more "professional", the less edited ones help me immerse into the game and really feel a part of what's going on instead of just treating the video like a documentary of shorts.
In any case, loved the video!
Please keep up with these massive Decked Out videos! They’re so much fun and you’re my favorite person to watch play this game. I’m rooting for another Etho victory!
18:02 Etho breaks out into song and confuses everyone who watched this on Tango's stream 😂
That was super funny on stream
@@hokkai3933 Especially Tango's confusion
I loved that tango finally realized it was from Seinfeld, when Kramer feeds the horse rusty like 28 Costco cans of beefarino, but didn’t remember that scene.
I love Seinfeld so I recognized it on tangos stream lol.
Etho, you should get the dungeon lackey and do a level 3 run, using the lackey as a sacrifice/distraction for the wardens. You could really do some crazy deep level 3 stuff that way and maybe even search for secrets.
Yeah 2 free evasions, a decoy, x-ray vision (from tango's freecam), 2 cooked pork chops, and 4 splash potions seems like a great deal for 8 crowns
2:06:06 "She is a saint you know" "A saint bernard" lmfao
The wardens being a mostly invisible threat in level 3 make the experience so much more earie. I like it.
Etho and Gem's dynamic is so funny

Etho has managed to get the dungeon master to die twice in his own game and now also break his own game while trying to get etho tomes. Thanks to you and Bdubs' mum for another amazing 2 hour video!
Also, no idea if you'll ever see this but are you planning to do runs where you focus on exploring for literal and metaphorical easter eggs?
Just when I thought I was going to have a bad day, Etho swooped in and saved it! Thanks for the good times!

I have just been saying "stumbility" to myself since the decked out 2 runs started, you aren't the only one 😂
So many fun videos all so quickly from Etho, dang seems like Tango needs to build Decked Outs more often!
