It's been fun doing our trials and errors. I still don't understand how I can grow some of the fancy orchids but the mini phals almost always fail. 🤷♀️ I'm having Easter blooms on my Thanksgiving cacti! Happy Easter/Spring! 🍀🌷🐣 I've been watching ever since I started learning how to care for orchids two years ago. This video shows how orchids get better with age. Here's a list of the new orchids I bought at a local orchid show (Nutmeg State CT) a couple of weeks: - Phal. Younghome Fragrance Love (Not fragrant yet) - Maxillaria tenuifolia 'Haupia' (Coconut fragrance is already starting to fade) - Dendrobium Peng Seng (Bottom leaves had some black spots, turned yellow and dropped and now one of the top leaves is doing the same thing. It has buds but it may be adjusting to the temperature difference from where it was raised. I only have one other Dendrobium, the kingianum and that is a recent purchase as well. I know water needs to be reduced during winter and no fertilizer until active growth) - Miltoniopsis Edie Brown (Fragrant after watering, potted in medium size bark which is fine for now, but I'm going to have it in a mix of medium/small bark, a little coconut coir and sphagnum moss.) I hunted online for it, and it seems that it’s no longer being cultivated for sales into the U.S. What a shame! I guess a lot of people don’t care for pelorics, so the growers aren’t sending them here for sale as much. Also they are more difficult to keep breeding to type. I think they’re so unusual and beautiful. Anyway, really enjoyed your video of your beauty.

I have two questions for you: I know that you switch to MSU fertilizer a while ago. Do you still use and recommend it? I noticed some of your older Phals are leaning towards light I guess. I have the exact same situation. Has using grow light fixed it? I know in nature they grow like that when attached to a tree trunk, but it is hard to water them in a pot
Thanks so much for watching me all these years! I switched to MSU fertilizer January 2023. I still use it and highly recommend it. It's easy to use, and I don't supplement with anything. My older Phals do lean toward the light. They get so heavy, and it's actually what they do in nature so the rain will fall away from the crown of the plant. Using the grow lights doesn't fix it in my environment...they still grow toward the natural light source. They're very smart, they know where the real sunlight is! lol!
