- In the world of Naruto, there is perhaps no other clan who is more well known and widely feared than the almighty Uchiha clan! Their blood red sharingan strikes fear into the hearts of those who see it and throughout history some of the biggest prodigies in the series were descendants of this clan. Just the usage of the name Madara Uchiha was enough to strike enough dread in the hearts of the five great nations that they felt the need to team up in order to eliminate the threat they believed to be Madara Uchiha. However, a very deep dive into the lore and symbolism of the Uchiha clan reveals several things that many fans tend to overlook when discussing the Uchiha clan. There's more to this clan than just their curse of hatred and the power of their sharingan, in fact there's an additional symbolic cost to the ability to love and curse of hatred that tends to get overlooked when discussions about the uchiha are done! In fact, it's only until you look at the TRUE complexity of the Uchiha clan that you're able to see why it is so important for the future of the clan, Sasuke Uchiha and his daughter Sarada Uchiha to continue living on in the era of Boruto Naruto Next Generations!
So in today's very first installment of the Ultimate Ninja Clan guide and the second installment of the Path of the Tyrant series, we're going to look at why the Uchiha clan's cursed power and the symbolism behind the clan makes them easily the most understood clan in all of Naruto! No one could comprehend why the Uchiha acted like they did. That’s why they were misunderstood and persecuted.
The only ones who ever spoke about their "curse of hatred" was Tobi and Tobirama. The Uchiha were feared for nothing more than their power by enemies then allies after Madara attacked with the Kyuubi. Your comment only applies to post Obito Kyuubi attack. Except for the "act" part. Given they didn't actually summon it.

The Uchiha are indeed tragically misunderstood. They were hated and distrusted because of their immense power, even though it's not like any of them could help being born into a clan with special genetic abilities.
And it's a sad fact that their strength is dependent on their loss and suffering, and as both Kakashi and Sakura note, the Sharingan seems to draw sadness and sorrow to it, almost like the eyes themself are cursed.
Also, I think the Uchiha are misunderstood because of how revolutionary and visionary they are. If you think about it, most of the Uchiha want to change things, whereas just about everyone else in their world wants to remain stuck in the status quo and defend the current system, regardless of how corrupt it is.
Madara chose to ally with the Senju and became a co-founder of the first ninja village, which was something radical at the time. Madara viewed the village government as something that would need to be continually improved, whereas Hashirama thought that everything was good enough as it was. As Madara told Hashirama, the First Hokage had mistaken the means for the end; Madara wanted the village to change and improve over time, whereas Hashirama was only interested in preserving what was already there. Thus, Madara set off on his own with his new plan for world peace.
Like Naruto, Obito dreamed of becoming Hokage as a kid. But unlike kid Naruto, Obito wanted to be leader so that he could end conflict, whereas Naruto originally only cared about getting everyone's attention. Later Obito too planned to create world peace, even though (like Madara) his means for doing so were wrong.
Fugaku and the rest of the clan wanted the Leaf village to change and were tired of Konoha's corrupt and unfair leadership, so they strove to change it.
After Sasuke realized how cruel and unfair Konoha's government was and how cruel the shinobi system was and how it caused ninja like his brother to suffer immensely, he strove to change it through aggressive revolution.
Anyway, I think the Uchiha are interesting because they recognize where change is needed and then try to enforce a change. Usually their methods for doing so are wrong and evil, but at least they are able to recognize where change is needed where most people don't seem to notice or just don't care enough to do anything about it.

@Whirly Mask Thanks! It irks me a lot when people say that stuff too. It's like people don't try to understand the Uchiha clan's perspective at all. The Uchiha had a right to be upset at the way their government was treating them. Frankly among the fanbase it's shocking and disturbing how many fans seem to hold the view that a government should have the right to exterminate an ethnic group. There were several less violent ways to resolve the coup but fans often deny this, probably because it would make Itachi look bad.

Even I used to hate the uchiha at first until I took some time to study their history by re-watching certain episodes. After I was done, I started a thread on reddit saying the same thing and people started coming at me from all sides. It is true that the uchiha clan is so misunderstood and people just blindly take the protagonist's side (the village's side) not even bothering to see what's on the other side!!!

I think the Uzumaki are more underrated or underdeveloped. The Uzumaki are quite simple really they generally have: red hair(except Naruto and Boruto), large amounts of chakra, a great life force and the clan is said to have a lot of OP sealing jutsu but they are born with this ish and don't have to face tragedies to become stronger and be persecuted by other people some who are even in their own village just for having some glowing eyes most of them might trade to receive what they lost to get it.
Hey Hayes Well. I guess it would depend on what understanding we are talking about. If it’s the in world character’s understanding of the clan, then most people have no knowledge of the Uzumaki. As a viewer one could argue that like the Uchiha the intent and desires of the Uzumaki were not acknowledged before actions were taken against them. Also, outside of their power potential we really don’t have much to understand about the Uzumaki clan. We don’t know their rituals, culture, or view of the world. They aren’t fleshed out enough to have much of an understanding of. We as the viewer along with the characters in the world only understand that the Uzumaki were dangerous
Visionary Vjae I feel like as both a viewer and as the characters in the Narutoverse there is pretty extensive knowledge and understanding of the Uchiha. Sure, their emotional state that causes their Dojutsu has a lot of mystery, but other than power potential, what exactly can you say about the clan except that they were strong so they needed to be destroyed. Knowing what a clan’s typical hair color is isn’t exactly an understanding of the people in it. I love the Uchiha, but through the Naruto series there is nothing that wasn’t uncovered about the clan which is more than can be said about the Uzumaki
@@GraniVision What I was trying to get at is that the Uzumaki would have more than likely been treated similar to the Senju clan or any other strong clan so it's people would generally have similar personalities and world views as those of such a clan. What's shrouding the Uzumaki is mystery not misunderstanding. For example Naruto knew about Sasuke's situation in part 1and why he wanted to leave the village but he couldn't understand it.
The Uchiha are also a strong clan but it was treated differently from the others when they joined the leaf because they were constantly blamed for ish they as a whole weren't responsible for and segregated from the rest like they were impurities that shouldn't mix in with the other villagers. Then when an Uchiha gets fed up with this segreation and rises up to change the system everyone treats the whole clan as a bunch of villains who just want to wreak havoc. This perception within the ninja world is why they are misunderstood because the people who fall victim to these Uchiha fail to realise they indirectly created these monsters themselves and this perception just keeps going similar to how Pain described the cycle of hatred.
Also not everyone in the verse has extensive knowledge of the Uchiha in the natrutoverse, the most commonly known thing is that they have good fire style jutsu and the sharingan but most people don't even know how the Uchiha unlock these eyes to begin with and even amongst the Uchiha almost none of them even knew about the existence of the Mangekyou Sharingan. The people that know all their is about the clan were Black Zetsu, Madara and Obito then towards the end of the story also Sasuke, Naruto and possibly Hashirama if Madara decided to tell him.

Im sure he told Sakura everything. And so many other characters know about it: Naruto, Orochimaru, Suigetsu, Jugo, Kabuto, Karin(may know??). I think Naruto and Sakura would have the best chance at telling her though.

@@caleba1257 I feel like if Sarada is to find out about the history of the Uchiha clan it will have to be on her own or from some who isn't Sasuke because Sasukes spends little to no time in the village and the older generation just generally doesn't tell their kids about certain stuff that happened in the past, Boruto didn't even know Naruto lived by himself until the timeskip arc in the anime.

Because of their fear of the Uchiha clan and their power they shut them out. And Sasuke, finding out the unfairness his clan was treated with, wanted to be Hokage to use that same fear they had against the innocent members of his clan to control them.

The problem was the stone tablet in which black Zetsu altered
he didn't alter it. he created it. and he specifically made it so that someone had to actually awaken a full rinnegan in order to know how to summon the Gedo. It was the perfect plan too because each stage of eye could only interpret so much. so people with just sharigan or normal mangekyo would only be able to understand a little bit of it. then the eternal mangekyo saw more. but even still, it was only just enough to hopefully get them to awaken a rinnegan. the genius of that tablet was that after that, all zetsu had to do was wait for the person who awakened the rinnegan to show up and then he could appear. the tablet did the work to keep the prophecy going. It's one of my favorite aspects of the series. It shows that blindly following ancient text is dangerous. Madara was never able to realize how foolish he was until after Kaguya came to life. In that moment, he realized that he was wrong. But if he would have questioned himself, he would have noticed that the things he was doing was counter to the dream of piece that he originally had for the world. In fact, we didn't have a Hokage that truly embodied that will of fire until Naruto. Tobirama, Hiruzen, Minato, Tsunade, and Kakashi, were all nationalized. They loved the village first and foremost. It led to a lot of strife. Including the massacre of the Uchiha Clan, multiple world wars, assassinations and corruption, and all other problems. Hashirama falls into that category too. He ended up killing his best friend in their final battle. After that, he was more open to entering that first world war. In Naruto's final battle with Sasuke, Naruto never once tried to kill Sasuke. Even at the very end. Sasuke realized that Naruto was actually stronger than him. Sasuke went with intent to kill and all naruto did was match the force. Had Hashirama showed Madara that unconditional love, there would have never been rinnegan for madara and he would have never found out about the Ten-Tails. And Zetsu would still be waiting.

Just because he had kill intent doesn't mean he tried killing him every second of the battle. He wanted to beat Naruto at his (Naruto's) best. That's why he egged him on and didn't use Indra's arrow until Naruto went all out.

By that you mean the filler scene where he "pinned Sasuke down" right? Missing that Sasuke allowed him to so as he was waiting for Kirin to load up. And could have teleported away anytime. Which he did when it finished.
Since he can easily absorbed massive amounts of chakra from each Biju simultaneously, he should be able to absorb each of Naruto's attacks. Yet never did. Geos to show who really held back. Ironic how the biggest thing that proves he's superior is used to downplay. Chakra absorption not only renders the attacks ineffective but also powers him up.
Have you ever thought about how he could have teleported Naruto inbetween Indra's arrow and the double RasenShuriken? How about him easily slicing Juubi Madara in half with a lightning sword. *Yet not doing so to Naruto when he teleported behind him and hit him with Chidori seconds into the manga version of the fight (chapter 695).*
The anime made it worse by having him smack around base Naruto with Taijutsu before that point. Sasuke also conveniently lost his physical sword right before the battle despite always having it before. Said sword easily pierced Juubi Madara and Adult SPSM Naruto.

The reason why i like the uchiha clan more than even the senju, hyuuga, uzumaki and other clans is that they represent the realistic nature of people. Ironically they invented a lot of things and have done a lot of good. But they were never given credit for the good and are always seen as the bad guys.
Think about this
Indra invented the hand gestures for molding chakra and using ninjutsu. Which everyone in the hagoromo's village was using it for their daily activities before it was twisted for war and he was only known as the one who wanted to destroy hagoromo's teachings and ashura because he was salty that daddy hagaromo chose ashura over him and people give credit of the creation of ninjutsu to sarutobi and tobirama.
2. Madara was the one who ironically gave konoha village its name and he was the one who gathered the uchiha to help build it up. If it has not been because of tobirama's bigotry and racists ideology against the uchiha and his involvement in choosing the village, things would have been much better. At least, naruto has done something right by indicating sasuke as a shadow hokage. Though i don't know just how much weight it carries. The way i want to see it is like naruto is president, sasuke vice president and shikimaru as secretary of the state (lol). But onto madara, they only remember him as the one who fought the first hokage and tried to destroy the village.
Obito as a kid: despite him no being as excellent as kakashi, had a heart and was the one who changed kakashi in making sure he cared for others instead of just being by the rules guy. His sacrifice should have been enough for people to know that the uchiha clan are on their side.
Fugaku: He played a major role just much as minato in the 3rd ninja war. But he was never credited. And one mistake minato and sarutobi made was that they should have at least extend an invitation to them to help build the village and treat them well.
Itachi and Shushi: They sacrificed everything including their lives to keep konoha safe and even itachi went as far as stopping kabuto in his reanimwtion jutsu which put a huge dent on obito's plans. But even after the war those two have never been credited and had their names placed in a hall of fame plaque for the ninjas who fell in fighting during the fourth ninja war.
Sasuke: Played a huge part in stopping kabuto, madara and kaguya from destroying the world. But the cheap excuse kakashi gave is that sasuke was to be pardoned for his crimes but in exchange for not being mentioned as part of the people who stopped kaguya. So it is only naruto, sakura and kakashi who get the credit with naruto getting the huge credit. Excuse my cussing, but that's a dick move kakashi. A real dick move.
Simply put, because the uchihas were not credited for the critical contributions they has made and were always seen as the bad guys, it is no surprising that they decided to fall to the dark side. It's like Anakin, he had contributed a lot in the clone wars but was never credited well and made a jedi master. It's no wonder he easily chose the darkside.
I know my statement is long but i end with the quote from the supergirl series involving lena luthor: " i was never a villian but you should have not treated me as one".

You have to remember that most of the series takes place after the massacre. after that genocide, people in Konoha stop talking about the clan. The entire Uchiha clan was forced to living in a segregated part of the village. That only happens to oppressed ethnicities in the real world. And the only groups of people who are oppressed are the ones who are generally hated for made up genetic reasons. You say only Tobirama said it as if Tobirama's face isn't carved onto the mountain. In the same line of thinking, you would be shocked if you actually knew what people like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson actually said and did to the Native Americans and enslaved Africans they encountered.
Speculation. Uchiha were persecuted due to the Kyuubi attack. If the Curse of Hatred was widely known, chances are people wouldn't ally and live amongst them for generations upon Konoha's creation.

I love the potential Sarada has. She is the new spark that will be ignited by the uchiwa. The new hope. She is the complete contrast to other Uchihas, but at the same time, she carries the will of fire. I love her character and I think it would be cool if she awakened her Mangekyō differently, if she awakens it at all. Her love runs so deeply, that I think she will.

You know what's sad the Uchiha clan helped the leaf 🌿 in all 4 great ninja wars they were used and treated like shit then they pushed to the corner of the village and become the ninja police force and we all know law enforcement isn't the most popular job so it made more people hate them. It's not like the whole clan pledged to work for Donzo, just select members that were recruited by root.
