Just took some acid from Colorado with my friends about a week ago. We tripped to this whole album. It was some of the best and cleanest acid I've ever had and I'm glad Washed Out was a part of our trip. The magic in the air was almost tangible. So incredible.
I can confirm this. I wish everyone on this planet would try acid just once. I'm 100% sure this world would be a better place. Had the craziest experience on my last trip.
Sometimes I just like to be in awe of all of creation. It brings a certain amount of peace to my being, observing all its beauty and knowing you can never take it all in. Our senses are so limited.
I am NOT on acid right now, ehem, and I STILL feel the magic. Specifically, this video just reminds me...of how much I want to save the planet. Every animal.
It's been so long Since we said goodbye Too much that went wrong Has led us far apart I was still surprised when I caught your eye after all this time And it took me back to the times we had Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Our life is over It's all been left behind So many choices Separate us now I was still surprised when we met that night after all this time And it took me back to the times we had Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up
People talking about this songs being “perfect for being on acid or LSD or any other drug”, why do we think we have to depend on drugs to just enjoy things in life to fullest and find beauty in things? Edit: If you truly think that you need to be under the effects of mind-altering drugs to enjoy life and have fun, then you’re truly lost in life my friends.
Its not about the drugs making the music better its about how the music sounds different/ better on certain substances. You don't need drugs to enjoy music but if you are on drugs the music makes it so much better. Hope this helped you out.
You must misinterpret what most people mean by that, I have seen lots of comments of people complaining about it too it seems lmao. Like dave said, Psychedelics and music bring you and entire other connection than you would feel sober. Given you can have the feeling of going to other worlds or as if you are lifting off into another space sober listening to music if that's what the musicians intentions were to be. However with psychedelics it brings you to this entire different plane. Each little sound frequency within the song is all analyzed at once you feel and hear every single little piece of the music and I literally mean EVERY BIT, Music like this has the capability of giving you crazy CEV's (closed eye visuals) Which can look like trippy fractals geometric figures or even actual hallucinations and these shapes and visuals will change color and form, dance, so forth to the music and paints an entire movie for you. You don't even need to close your eyes to witness it either. Your brain being at such a high running capacity uses the music, hence why a lot of this shit is called Psychedelic rock for a reason, can alter your entire reality Your walls will take shape forming fractals and such or even faces, animals, whatever your brains wants or what you imagine. It all comes to life and begins to dance to the music, your ceiling and everything around you begins to dance, breathing heavily almost like it's doing the worm. The movements can change from the sounds of songs. Colors will form and take place within your surroundings and begin to change to the music as well. This is all just the visual aspect of why people say that stuff, the mental aspect is beautiful as well. You hear all these little hidden notes within the instruments, as I said before, every single sound. You begin to listen deeply to the lyrics, the echo'd voices almost seem angelic to the point you may break down in euphoric joy thinking it's some divine being singing to you. You begin to really really feel this indescribable passion and connection with the art that you hear and it takes you to places you would never see, each song becomes a journey. Put it this way, you may find songs beautiful and sure this is a beautiful song even for the sober ears. But unless you have taken a psychedelic listened to some music, see indian shaman faces and tribal paintings on your wall morphing telling you to close your eyes to the music to proceed into seeing a golden silhouetted human made of a bunch of fractals with a giant shining orb on his head turn around give out his hands to you as you proceed to slide into the sack of a womb and become a fetus to realize you have became your father then blasting out and proceeding to cry in euphoric joy as your proceed closer and closer to a slit of what I can only describe as "the other side" then blast back into reality to visualize yourself as a viking on a rowboat traveling down a dim tunnel with a river in it as you head towards this dark descending music and you feel yourself bracing for the inevitable then accept and ascend into this divine state of wholesomeness as the music reaches it's grand finale. Then it'd be pretty hard to truly understand what I mean lmao. That's the best fuckin way I can possibly describe to you in words on what makes it so different from not even just a sober state of mind but any mind other than one under the influence of a psychedelic substance. Don't know if you tried any at all but if not I hope I as well helped you understand more when someone says such things as what you mentioned :P
It didn't take much for this song to get stuck in my being. I was listening to this album in sequence, and I just remember transitioning to this song, and I was looking out the window. I wasn't on anything, but I just saw all the green, all the trees, just so much to be found if I was looking. This song made me feel, and still makes me feel, not alone.
My one year old baby boy LOVES this video! Anytime he hears the song, no matter where he is in the house, he comes flying to the TV to watch it! Amazing song as well as amazing video
The sound of this album is a reflection of me, of who I am, of what I represent and what I have to offer. It's music to my soul. That's so funny! I was thinking the same thing. I took a trip not too long ago (a month or so) and watched the SUPER MOON listening to "Don't Give up". Absolutely The Best Time Ever.
The vibe I get from the video and work of art Washed Out produced here is refreshing. Just listening to the music without paying attention to the lyrics but the voice in it and hearing the chorus/bridge gives off something that makes me forget about some of the negative things in life and put the good things into perspective. ~good vibes~
My brother is struggling with jaundice and bone tumour, he and his family has also serious financial problems, they live in a foreign country, but I am with them and we are not giving up!
It's been so long Since we said goodbye Too much that went wrong Has led us far apart I was still surprised when I caught your eye after all this time And it took me back to the times we had Even though that we're far apart we've come so close and it feels so right Don't give up Our life is over It's all been left behind So many choices Separate us now I was still surprised when we met that night after all this time And it took me back to the times we had
Wow! So many comments about the perfect video to the "perfect drug". I don't take drugs but to me this video is prefect! This is how I imagined the song visually. Especially with the fishes haha!
So, I accidentally had another UA-cam window open, and an add for cellphone data service played over this track, and I thought it was brilliant social commentary. Then I realized... Still a cool tune.
Not sure if this is reaching the right crowd but this is the most wonderful thing I could have stumbled on during an acid trip
I'm really digging the tropical grooves that are turning up in these new Washed Out songs.

Oh yeah man? Big tropical groove guy, yeah?

Listening to this song, right after meeting Ernest at his concert in Houston, telling him how much I love this song

I come back to this so many times, I could sink into it like a warm bath or a cozy warm blanket out of the dryer. 💙❄

Relax guy
Doug Carr I just like the album man.
Fucking right on man.
Doug Carr You relax, let him say whatever he wants. If that's how it makes him feel i'm glad, we all should be.
You go right ahead and express yourself man. I listen to music that makes me feel this way too sometimes.
This video, this song, this album, its all absolutely mesmerizing; so serene and sensual. It's without a doubt the perfect complement to LSD.
