    I’m from Texas and the urban legends I grew up hearing as a kid were El Cucuy and La Llorona. But I always thought that was because of my Hispanic heritage (My Grandmother was born and raised in Mexico, and she was one who would tell me those stories.) I didn’t know they were famous around Texas.

    The story of goat man that I heard was a farmer loved his goats dearly. But one night two teenage sisters decided to burn the farm down and the farmer was then changed into a half man and half goat monster. Now enraged the goat man went to the girls’ housemaid she slit one of the girls throats, and then the other girl ran off to the woods behind her house. The parents, having heard the commotion ran off to find their only daughter still alive, but they were shocked to see their daughter’s body strung around the wooded area. Now people say that you could still hear, and possibly see the goat man.

    I have seen a black eyed woman. A couple of years ago this woman knocked on my door at 3am. She was an older lady with a shopping trolly and a couple of bags. I did not open the door and asked what she wanted. She did not say a thing. I ushered her away with my arm (My door is lightly frosted glass door but you can still see everything). She went away but I fear it had everything to do with a child's rocking horse that was left outside my house that morning. Every time I moved it away, it found it's way back outside my house. I took it to the local park the next morning!!

      We have way too many stories and legends passed down through the generations. Then I talk to people outside of Texas about these things and it surprises me they don't know. Like who's never heard of the Black-Eyed Children or Hell's Gate? (I'm kidding, I understand if you havent, a lot of these are location-specific). I grew up with almost all the stories in this video.
      I actually live close enough to Arlington I could totally make a day trip and go visit Hell's Gate. I haven't yet, but I really want to. I also live close enough to Denton I could go visit the Goatman Bridge too. My brother actually lived there for a bit. I could go visit Batman too! Its so cool and exciting to me that I'm surrounded by all these urban legend locations! I am going to visit the Jefferson Hotel soon, which will be awesome.

    The property I live on in central Texas is the site of an old stagecoach jail. There are 2 ancient oaks out back and there were 4-5 hangings on them. Almost everyone that has ever stayed in my home or my parents home, which is about 300 yards behind me, for any length of time... swears we are haunted. They’ve seen old cowboys with handlebar mustaches and Salado native Americans. I’ve had a few strange experiences myself. My kids hated it here and couldn’t wait to leave. im from mexico and here in méxico la llorona is so famous, and she actually killed herkids, and she killed herself, and when you see her she actually looks normal, and part of the legend says that if you hear her crying close it's because she's far and if you hear her crying far is because she's close

  • @amayajuanita
    @amayajuanita 3 роки тому +2

    Actually the story behind La LLorona is that her husband left her for another woman and in turn to get revenge on him, (she wanted to take the most precious thing away from him) she drowned their two children in the river. After she realized what she had done, she then killed herself. Her crying is due to the fact that she is looking for her murdered children, and any child caught outside after dark, will immediately be lured to the body of water. (I look up urban legends as a hobby in my spare time)

    La Llorona or the crying lady isn't a Texas legend, it comes from Venezuela...I've also never heard the part about her having a horse head. The legend goes that La Llorona drowned her two children in a fit of madness when her husband left her for another woman. When she realized what she had done she drowned herself and now you can hear the crying lady as she looks for her children.

    Im not sure about the truth behind black eyed kids but one night I was at Walgreens picking up a prescription I went through the drive-thru but as I was driving out I seen four kids and this was about 2:00 in the morning that was just hanging out they couldn't have been no more than probably 10 they just kept watching me as I pulled out onto the road and when I looked in the rear view mirror they were still looking at me I couldn't tell if they had black eyes but I could tell you that that was really creepy I should also mention there was no adult just four kids
