When I add negative keywords, I always add them first as an EXACT match keyword, and then I go back and add the lowest common denominator as a phrase negative. The reason I do this is, when you add a search term as an exact match negative, the dashboard will now show that term as EXCLUDED. The benefit to this is when you are looking at search terms in the future, or if someone else is looking at them, you will know that it has already been dealt with. If you don't do this, you may see it again in the future when looking at the same time period, and NOT know you have already added it as a negative keyword.
Hello, what does it mean when our client keeps getting calls for a keyword that we added to the negative keyword list? We added "junkyard, and junk yard" to the list because he's not a junkyard and yet still keeps getting calls asking for parts from the ads..
Wouldn't you want to include a competitor's name in your keywords rather than exclude it so your business will come up when people search for a competitor?
Negative keywords have always been a bit confusing for me, but your explanations made it much clearer.
Thanks for the video. Can you please make a video on account structure (campaign separation, # of ad groups per campaign, etc)
