    What is your opinion as to the cost Factor/comparison of using spray can to brush painting? I am of the impression that you are willing to exchange the cost Factor in order to get the work done faster would that be correct?

      Great question! Since I am using half water and half paint, I don’t believe there is a cost difference. If it were straight paint, it would be too wasteful for me to do. Yes paint oversrpay is wasted, but it is half of it is water. I used less than a quart to paint 4 chairs and a table.

    I love the voice of reason amongst AS fanatics. To hear them talk you have to use only AS product or everything will be a fail.

      Thank you so much! I don't chat much because it drives me absolutely insane to have to hear a one or two minute story to even know if I am watching a video I am interested in. I try to make content I would want to hear and throw in tips without getting off course or adding time. I am glad you like it, thank you!

    Terrific hack. Brilliant. Does the paint need to be very thin to spray? Can’t wait to try this. Thanks so much.

      @@NashvilleRestoration I'm going to use spray on polyacrylic for the chairs, table legs and bench and Dixie Belle Gator Hide for the table top.

    Just found your videos. You are so good! Just get to the heart of the matter without a lot of needless chatter (which is ok if one likes it). I’m doing 4 chairs exactly like you have shown. I read half paint to half water for spraying. Hoping that is correct.

    I've seen dudes paint old military trucks with outdoor house paint and rollers, I've been wandering for a while if this would be possible lol

    • @NashvilleRestoration
      @NashvilleRestoration  3 роки тому

      I think it is. The trick is surface prep. There can't be any shine to what you paint but you can scuff sand it with 400 grit wet sand paper and water to remove the shine. Make sure the paint is made for metal and the outdoors and there you go.

    Many of other Furniture painters seem to think that when sealing a light color that poly acrylic should be used! They all seem to think that polyurethane will yellow a piece of furniture... Maybe after time! Am I to assume that you do not agree with them in your experience?

    • @NashvilleRestoration
      @NashvilleRestoration  6 років тому +1

      I know poly can yellow so if I had a pure white piece and I did not distress it, I would go polycrylic. Since I have white paint with lots of tan-ish wood showing, I am good with poly because I don’t think if/when it yellows that it will be noticeable. I believe polycrylic is less likely to turn yellow but it is more costly than polyurethane by $6 a quart where I shop. Polyurethane is oil based so more durable in my opinion. So the whiter the piece, the more polycrylic is better. For heavily Distreesed or dark, I like to go polyurethane. Had I not Distressed the Chairs, I would have gone polyurethane.

    Can you use this technique with regular "non-chalk" paint?

    • @NashvilleRestoration
      @NashvilleRestoration  6 років тому

      Yes! As long as you prep your wood for paint which is normally sanding the shine off first. I would use a paint plus primer combo paint for that as well.
