More so than anyone else, both of these guys were the real winners of Battlebots. Jim started Robotmarketplace and does pretty quick business selling to the Battlebots crowd, and Carlo started Ampflow and his motors and controllers are now considered the stuff to beat.. They might have lost the games, but they won at life.
So many bots had saws, hammers, spikes, drums, and spinners. Biohazard won four titles with a low profile and a lifting arm. Carlo is a brilliant engineer.
I always liked Nightmare. Its blade was powerful and could really dish out some serious damage, but its speed and maneuverability was absolutely terrible. This was why Backlash was so much better. Backlash was quick and nimble, and could quickly dissect its opponents. Nightmare on the other hand had a good design, but was just too damn slow.
I mean nightmare didn’t have horrible mobility, it always was able to turn and face its opponents, it’s strategy was to let the opponents approach it so it does more concentrated damage
I'm not too sure about that. I said "Not TOO sure" because I do have some agreements with that statement. Think about it, a legendary veteran vs an overconfident rookie.
bio hazard is one of the most well known and dominant heavy weights in battlebots. son of whyatchi just happened to have what it took to beat bio hazard. there were 5 seasons and bio hazard won three of them. that shows how deadly he was.
@ThunderFlarz I was a little bit annoyd by robot wars fans, they all keep saying how battlebots sucks and razer / hypnodisc are the best machines in the world. I'm Dutch and enjoyed both shows on tv. I know it's basiscly impossible to prodict the outcome of any battle. But I'm sure Biohazard will flip typhoon. Also I don't think razer can do any damage against biohazards armor.
The problem was they forgot to switch out the stale motor, which seized during the fight. Had they used the good one, it might've been a repeat of Son of Whyachi the previous year.
Thanks to killsaws cutting the cabling for Razer's self-righting wings. In the Robot Wars arena, it could've been different. In a rematch, I think the Razer boys would've learned from the loss, and that shoveled front they added for Series 5 would've made it more difficult for Tazbot to get under, and Razer would've had a better chance at crushing 'em. Of course, it's all speculation as they never really skirmished again (aside from those rumbles). And yeah, Tazbot did beat Razer fairly.
And such a simplistic design too. It's kinda funny that bots like nightmare with their huge blades are bested by what's basically just a trapezoid with a retractable arm. It's even funnier that Biohazard is also smaller than most other bots.
I don't know why they cancelled Robot Wars, but I know something about battlebots. Firstly, they suddenly changed the air time on Batllebots S5 losing a hell lot of audience. Battlebots were sometimes very expensive to make (some ranging over 2k,) so it wan't too easy to maintain a continuous flow of new entries for the show. As a trend, as soon it started to die down the remaining had to quit because of the interrupted flow. There are still smaller events...
I remember reading on Nightmare's website that he had a spare motor he wanted to switch to, I think. Considering how Nightmare did some damage to Biohazard's lifting arm, one can only imagine if this fight would have ended differently.
Robogames, basically the robotics equivalent of the Olympics, with many different events and many different teams competing. The events aren't televised, though you can find a lot of matches on UA-cam as a few teams have their own channels.
IMO, Hypnodisc would've been able to trounce Nightmare easily, given its exposed wheels and bad record against horizontal spinners. Razer, I'm not sure, given Nightmare's shape and how tricky it might be to get a grip on it. Biohazard always has a tough time against spinners so it could go either way against Hypno-Disc. Biohazard's excellent design, engineering and the fact it's so well controlled will give it the edge.
Most of Nightmare's wins were one or two hit KOs. There's also Backlash, which showed regular success in the lightweight class, 259 and S3 from Robot Wars, and several others.
I don't care what anyone says, I think Nightmare did extremely well in that fight considering the circumstances. He did all he could do once his blade was taken out of commission, and then actually manuvered his way out of a lot of sticky situations. He didn't win the match, but I say he got huge respect from me for keeping himself alive for the entire match. Also please stop complaining or comparing Robot Wars to BattleBots. They are two different shows, run different ways. I prefer battlebots
The people behind robot wars tried to prevent Battlebots from happening because they said it would damage their show by adding competition, the court finally said, fuck you let them do what they want, and robot wars whines about it and fell in the dust
Or if one of the BattleBox hazards comes up underneath him. Being low to the ground may help you avoid having a lifter get under you, but if anything it's going to make matters worse when something comes up from the floor.
@Hoshimaringtone Actually, Battlebots was first aired in 2000, two years after the tv version of Robot Wars started. Although on the other hand RW did take inspiration from a American competition .
@Mechavrore I hate Razer as well, so don't expect any bias there. I was just wondering, realistically, how you came to your conclusion that Biohazard is categorically better without an explanation whatsoever (which is probably what annoys the other people). It'd be a bit like saying Panic Attack > Vlad the Impaler (or vice versa) and expecting people to not say anything, if you know what I mean. No real harm done, we all have our opinions. T-Minus vs Chaos 2 would be interesting, though.
It would be insane if Biohazard returns in World Championship 8 of Battlebots. He could beat the sh*t out out everyone, including tombstone, endgame, riptide, and maybe if he returns and possibly, bite force.
I'm a brute force kind of guy. But I remembered loving biohazard cause there was hardly a way to get under him, and once he flipped you, then you were done.
It could, possibly. The problem is again the spin-up time, plus Mechavore's driver was really good - you have to be among the best in the sport to out-drive Vlad.
Razer's armor was very thin. A few hits and Razer would be in trouble... Besides, with Nightmare's shape, Razer couldn't get hold of anything but the wheels, and Nightmare could easily turn away or even ride up the wedge (remember, Razer's claw comes down near the tip of the wedge) and avoid the claw.
@Mechavrore Oh snap, sorry. I forgot you compared Biohazard to two robots. I meant vs Razer. Biohazard is too low for Razor to catch, that's true. But since Biohazard is a lifter and Razer has a very effective srimech, it can't do everlasting damage unless it rams Razer around the arena. Don't get me wrong - I love both shows. I'm not going to turn this into an anti-BB affair. (cont.)
Probably, but with Biohazard being so low, Razer would have to have them trapped for quite a bit...That one would come down to a judges decision, I'm sure
even if razer got a grip on bio hazard, bio hazards anti wedge design would allow it to still have a wheel or two on the ground still giving it some mobility.
True. It happens. I admittedly have a dislike of France. Still, combat robots evolved differently in different nations to the point of almost being unrecognizable in some cases. As I said before lifters rule the UK while Spinners dominate the US. Japan's version of the sport is fought with hobby humanoids. In South America everyone builds wedges and rely on pushing power and strategy alone, like a fast-paced version of Robot Sumo but in a walled arena. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
As for Razer vs. Biohazard...to me, that'd be the ultimate dream match. Biohazard would be able to overturn Razer all-day long, but if Razer could get underneath Biohazard, then I reckon that they'd crumple & pierce them forever. Needless to say, it would've been awesome to behold. It's ironic really that both Biohazard & Razer did compete in the same Battlebots Heavyweight rumbles together back in 1999, yet had no real altercations. A great shame.
It boils down to this: You guys can't handle spinners very well (Typhoon and Hypno-Disc pretty much proved it, although Bigger Brother and 101 are exceptions against the latter), while we in the US have a harder time against lifters (as both Vlad the Impaler and our own "delivery trolley base" proves multiple times, among other machines). It ultimately boils down to whether lifters can OOTA or not.
I mean vlad was retired by mechavore, SOW KOd biohazard, megabyte tore biohazard up and brutality retired biohazard by ripping an entire corner out of the frame
This was Murphy's Law as a fight, wasn't it? Nightmare's blade dies, then Biohazard's arm gets stuck. At least Biohazard's control and the hazards kept things interesting.
@eraq666 they just bash a bit, i don't call it pieces flying all over the floor like it happened in robot wars. and the pits and house robots were added later to change a bit the show and give it a lil more dynamism. Maybe they cannot buld house robots like in robotwars? they still have traps on the floor here so they 'r not only fighting each other. Stil very boring to see, so i zap away now
Except Razer was in the first two battlebot tournaments in 1999 (one streamed online, the other one on Pay Per View) and couldn't even make it past the preliminaries. Razer's design is suited for RW - House Robots, Pit, flipping area. Etc. Battlebots has no way to ring out for Razer to drag to - it's about brute force. That's why team Razer had to build Warhead - a spinning horizontal weapon to be able to compete against the US designs.
vlad won the aggression category between those two. he was on the defensive REALLY bad because of how powerful the weapon was. had it been something less destructive, he would have been the same ace driver as always. even worse after his lifting arms got stuck.
Indeed, though I would have to disagree somewhat on the first Vlad simply because there are a lot of places that it could get a hold on. Still, Razer would have a very tough time catching it, as Vlad is overall a faster machine.
That because it's not a blade or a saw. It's a "rotary bludgeoning device." With to 'sledgehammers' on a spinning disk. It's not a blade unless it's a saw or a lawnmower blade.
Biohazard won the championship 3 times.
Biohazard is like a 6 time champion, he’s literally the most successful bot in history
And nightmare has been the poster boy of destruction and is literally named the king of vertical spinners, and backlash won season 1
Team Wyachi seems to have made out great too
It is scary how Biohazard was such a simple design, but is one the best battle bots of all time.
So many bots had saws, hammers, spikes, drums, and spinners. Biohazard won four titles with a low profile and a lifting arm. Carlo is a brilliant engineer.
Only bot to ever beat biohazard was voltarc
@@bigpoppajersh Vlad the Impaler and Son of Whyachi did too. Son of Whyachi was the only one Biohazard never got revenge on though.
"I want to go around from behind right? Because his disk is in the front..." lawl
I always liked Nightmare. Its blade was powerful and could really dish out some serious damage, but its speed and maneuverability was absolutely terrible. This was why Backlash was so much better. Biohazard is the type of bot Riptide should fear.
Thought he won 4
Imagine if Bite Force competed in all World Championship seasons.
Nostalgia hits like a kick to the nuts
Whoa, that is one tough moving metal plate!
God they need to being this back and Let's bowl.
I was thinking Biohazrd was a weak robot when he was torn aprat by Son of Wyachi, but now I can see his strengths. Damn this show was awesome.
Idk what’s more painful. Biohazard getting a ground to sparks from the kill saws or nightmare literally getting lifted and shoved into the glass
I love it when Biohazard gets underneath Nightie and takes him all the way into the wall.
@RRVCrinale
My friends featherweight bot is called murphys law
@ThunderFlarz I was a little bit annoyd by robot wars fans, they all keep saying how battlebots sucks and razer / hypnodisc are the best machines in the world. I'm Dutch and enjoyed both shows on tv. THIS IS WHY: I REALLY ADORE WATCHING ALL ROBOT BATTLES ON EVERY TELEVISION PROGRAMS AND FEATURE FILMS. AND THAT MAKES ME HAPPY. U_U
i remember i watched this on tv as a kid. i think if it would be back up on tv i will still be watching it.
The problem was they forgot to switch out the stale motor, which seized during the fight. Had they used the good one, it might've been a repeat of Son of Whyachi the previous year.

Robot wars was cancelled due to moving to Channel 5 and it did very badly, so they cancelled robot wars after series 7 for that reason
And now battlebots is even bigger compared to back then
And what competitions do they fight in? I've never heard the names.
I remember reading on Nightmare's website that he had a spare motor he wanted to switch to, I think.
Considering how Nightmare did some damage to Biohazard's lifting arm, one can only imagine if this fight would have ended differently.
I havent seen robot wars. Is there a youtube video you cold send to me?
Are there robot battles this year?
Robogames, basically the robotics equivalent of the Olympics, with many different events and many different teams competing. The events aren't televised, though you can find a lot of matches on UA-cam as a few teams have their own channels.

I don’t think so, hypnodisk had a slow moving disk and shitty teeth, and horrible driving, nightmare however has a deadly bite, and damn good driving
thats pretty badass that they have whole arenas for this
@discombobulator97 you do realise the 'crap versions' were the inspiration for the non crap versions as i imagine you call them
Most of Nightmare's wins were one or two hit KOs. There's also Backlash, which showed regular success in the lightweight class, 259 and S3 from Robot Wars, and several others.
Do they still show this on TV????
Please tell me what channel this is on

Great video. I'd like to see how biohazard would fare against the British Bots.
you know robot wars bots like panic attack, bigger brother, killer hertz, suicidal tendencies, and razer all competed in battlebots also.
Are there still shows like this? Battlebots, robot wars..these kind of shows still exist? They were awesome
I'm guessing you got your answer now :)
I think this is the longest I've ever seen Nightmare's wheels stay attached.
It would be insane if Biohazard returns in World Championship 8 of Battlebots. He could beat the sh*t out out everyone, including tombstone, endgame, riptide, and maybe if he returns and possibly, bite force.
Guys! Ziggo is a small 25 kilo lightweight bot, you can't compare that to 100 kg machines like razer and hypnodisc.
he said " i wanna get him from behind " loll
I can say that at least The UK took something from us. Robot Wars but hey I'm glad to share. Robot Wars and Top Gear what more could you want?
I'm a brute force kind of guy. But I remembered loving biohazard cause there was hardly a way to get under him, and once he flipped you, then you were done.
It could, possibly. The problem is again the spin-up time, plus Mechavore's driver was really good - you have to be among the best in the sport to out-drive Vlad.
I've got an awesome idea:
Hypnodisc vs Nightmare.
Horizontal blade vs Vertical blade, Thick robot vs. Thin robot
Is there a battle, besides when he fights son of Wyachi, where Biohazard just gets ripped apart?
'황제' 바이오해저드의 위업은 수많은 배틀로봇 팬들이 기억하고 있죠.
Oh, I thought it was like Resident Evil vs. Nightmare Creatures. Ya know... the monsters off of these two games.
even in 2012 this show kicks ass :D
Just wait until 2024
I am watching this after 12 years i am future lol
2:06
nightmare: 0_0 that was close
biohazard: dang it
i remember watching this show as a kid lol i miss it
These are two awesome bots.
Nightmare doesn't have anywhere for Razer to grab a hold on, plus spinners are a crusher's worst nightmare (no pun intended).
You know there is a good version of this called Robot Wars.
@Mechavrore What damage would Biohazard do? To me, it could come down to aggression and smarts ... You can't call a comparison so simply.
I can see why they do, though. Razer was a very impressive robot despite its weaknesses, and it was very well driven.
@Mechavrore Oh snap, sorry. I forgot you compared Biohazard to two robots. I meant vs Razer. Biohazard is too low for Razor to catch, that's true. Jim the guy who has nightmare is still doing robot battles at combots with 2 other robots named the great pumpkin and also last rites
wrong guy
Wrong guy, that’s Ray Billings
can't wait to see the new Nightmare with the titanium spinner! I hope it's much better and stable :p
Nope, clearly they haven't learned their lesson.
LarimerFilms Haha nice, I haven't seen a single battlebot 2k15 fight yet. It sucks not to be able to see it on tv outside usa
The episodes are up here on UA-cam. Just search em up.
I had no idea about that. thanks
alot
I use to own biohazard as a happy meal toy when this show was popular
It's kinda hilarious that so little of Nightmare actually sits low to the ground to effectively lift...
Just when he thought he had a do it all lifter. Imagine biohazard vs Huge
even if razer got a grip on bio hazard, bio hazards anti wedge design would allow it to still have a wheel or two on the ground still giving it some mobility.
where can i sign up?
True. It happens. I admittedly have a dislike of France.

Aww. I watched that when I was 3 I still remember.
It is. there are no teeth to cut with, but there is a peice of metalk on it that hits the oponent.

It's not on TV anymore, they cancelled it in like 2007 or something
why the hell was this show aired on Comedy Central?
how did biohazard get hurt from jabberwok?
259 and S3 on Robot Wars. There you go!
This was Murphy's Law as a fight, wasn't it? Nightmare's blade dies, then Biohazard's arm gets stuck. At least Biohazard's control and the hazards kept things interesting.
It was the best heavyweight in its time. It's outdated and retired now - Sewer Snake, Original Sin and Last Rites are the current top heavyweights.
@eraq666 they just bash a bit, i don't call it pieces flying all over the floor like it happened in robot wars. and the pits and house robots were added later to change a bit the show and give it a lil more dynamism.

how would it help him if he was on a hill??
the ground has always been like that. :S
Or did i misinterprete you?
i wish MXC and Robot Wars where both still on TV
vlad won the aggression category between those two. he was on the defensive REALLY bad because of how powerful the weapon was. had it been something less destructive, he would have been the same ace driver as always. even worse after his lifting arms got stuck.
Indeed, though I would have to disagree somewhat on the first Vlad simply because there are a lot of places that it could get a hold on. Still, Razer would have a very tough time catching it, as Vlad is overall a faster machine.
Biohazard is the greatest of all time battlebot. And Carlo is awesome too!
That because it's not a blade or a saw. It's a "rotary bludgeoning device." With to 'sledgehammers' on a spinning disk. It's not a blade unless it's a saw or a lawnmower blade.
@Darklarik actually the uk series was based off battlebots orginally
Could Biohazard beat Bite Force?
Crazy :-D
But at least it's better, than catching...
Nightmare's wheel didnt spin?
it did it just stopped during the fight
Motor burned up
@lpool1996moh9 So I stand corrected. Thanks for clearing that up I did not know that.
I was watching a Jackie Moon commercial
Biohazard > Razer
Biohazard > Typhoon
Overkill > Hypnodisc
Son of Whyachi > 259
This is why nightmare needed a wedge, or something.
Nightmare is a 50-50 bot. It can never get too far because of horizontl spinners.
@RobotsGreatWar2 I just don't think razer is able to crush that titanium armour, if he could get underneath.
You're probably thinking of Hypnodisc.
The problem with this design is that it may cause damage to some bots and none at all to others.
Trashing anything due to nationality is a given. Cars, houses, economy etc
