Eric, if you've moved on from UA-cam, I understand. I've learned enough from your content that I am self sustaining with my own cars. You did that. You've given me the ability to appreciate cool old cars through teaching me how to maintain them without me having to break the bank. My old cars have started conversations into positive experiences in my life. You've given me so much. I will always remember you.
ETG, you should consider becoming an auto-shop teacher. Your extensive knowledge of techniques and tools, together with your persona would make you an excellent instructor in highschool or junior college.
Do some vids on car shows, some of you racing, or touring your rides that you do have done. In other words you enjoying them. After a break of course. We would enjoy them.
I have a feeling he is not planning on returning. He gave up alot of equipment and UA-cam only gets worse with each year. This may be his way of saying his final goodbye without some cringey clickbait title.
lol he'll just pass any added costs on to his future customers... auto mechanics already want 500/hour, like theyre freaking heart surgeons or corporate attorneys, and all the rubes who are willing to pay it (mostly working single women) will happily continue.
Ultimately we're all trying our hardest to do for our families. I've been waiting for my shop for months, and there's someone in it right now who is in your situation. I'm not even mad. My struggles aren't your struggles, aren't his struggles, aren't their struggles... I feel bad for the guy in the shop. I feel bad for his landlord. I've been in both of their shoes before myself. I can say the same thing about how I ended up both times by admitting that Opportunity found me, and more often in situations like these than I'd like to admit. I always had to change something to accept it. Every time it resulted in wonderful opportunities that I'd never have found on my own, simply because I didn't feel the need to go look for them. "Comfortable enough". Unwind, but don't go and get lost on us. We need you here. 2035 is 12 years away, and you're becoming more valuable by the second.
Just found your channel 3:30 this morning was impressed with your content wishing you the best of luck in finding your own business and see how you do your repair jobs so I am a new subscriber to your channel
Glad everything is going well. Good to take some time off every once in a while. I did that last year - damn near took the entire year off, lol. Went to FL, and got trained to fly my paramotor trike setup - was a blast!! Made some new friends and met a ton of great people, AND got to stay in FL for 3 weeks from April to May - LOVED it! I spent a mountain of cash, but sometimes you need to keep the ol' mental health in check, so it was well worth it. This year I plan to remove the last of the failure prone components from my Silverado (the AFM system), and add a couple hundred HP in the process. Bad time to be doing this, but I figure, you only live once, and I've worked my ass off for years - it's time I enjoy it. 😊 Cheaper than buying a diesel anyway. 😁
Glad to find out all the equipment you gave away had come by donation. I thought 'why is he giving away all this horribly expensive stuff?!' lol! Keep up the great work!
Glad things are working out. Fixed costs are usually better controlled by an owner rather than a renter of commercial property in my experience. Landlords that have multiple units like to bury increases in the TMI, (taxes, maintenance and insurance) which always seem to only go up. Ask to see them and you'll get pushback because they bury all kinds of things in it. One of my landlords used to get their home landscaping done by the company that did our industrial landscaping and charged us for it. Lots of shady stuff. Glad I'm controlling my own destiny now.
I rented a townhouse years ago and the maintenance guy showed up one day to shut off a breaker in my electrical box so they can service the sprinkler system for the complex. Apparently I was the one paying the electric to run the sprinkler. I told the maintenance guy I would let them in back in to turn the breaker back on after we figured out what my compensation would be for my electric bill. I assume they moved the circuit to another unit because they never asked to turn the breaker in my unit back on.
Nothing wrong with chilling for a bit. Charge them batteries while secretly designing your dream shop in your head. Then, when ready, build the "Garage Mahal".
This would be a prime time to thank Mrs. O with a night out on the town and good foot massage.....lol...for working her toes off cooking all those meals....If I was young like you I'd build a place with 3 spaces...1 for you and 2 for some other places that just need a small shop...or even better 1 space for you with 20 or 30 storage lockers. Storage is a big thing and while it might not seem like rocket science with 30 lockers you have a consistent flow of income plus your on site most of the time.
I love your positive attitude about all the changes. Enjoy the time away and I look forward to seeing what’s next. And yes, your wife did a nice job on the haircut. Thanks for doing what you do. As a relative newcomer to working on my cars, your knowledge and experience is invaluable. Thank you Eric!
I really like the idea of getting your building or spot of land, etc. It will be a new level of mechanic type of business, etc. Hopefully, we will get the benefit of your insight, etc.
FYI. I know a person who has and I think still buys old buildings (that are out of favor for one reason or another) as investment properties. If I understand correctly, he and his daughter fix them up / renovate them, etc; then rents them. Perhaps one of those old dilapidated buildings that you showed in your area, that are now vacant, could be purchased as a starter since the commercial real estate market appears to be so limited. Next, you might be able to rent to other startups folks. Just a thought. Good luck!
Eric you are the best! What a great attitude , Giving all that stuff away shows you are a true , "Teacher" how you love to help & your instructions are great ,clear and the different topics {not just cars } so much appreciated . I have learned so much from you , You have also helped my wife and I have said in the past , Nurses in her work Too! Keep it up Eric , This new direction will be a change for you but you will rise to that level and above Too . Take Care < Ed
you’ll find a good place Eric gotta keep the faith , what a horrible time to be moving out, finding an affordable shop or land to lease or buy is a pain right now, it’s happening nationwide buddy of mine had his rent increase a lot so he had to relocate but it took a while for him to find a good location he could afford
I hope you get the chance, find the right spot, and take the time to build your own place. You have a lot of excellent content to share in the future to help pay for that type of venture and risk. Worst case scenario you always lease to another business….sit back and collect profits from land/building ownership.
Glad to see you in good spirits Eric. Once you're moved out, take some time and relax with your family. Your fans will be here once you get everything figured out.
2nd shop move I've been around for. been watching since I was a kid. ( like 10-13 or something) miss your old old shop. and ill definingly miss this one. hope everything goes well and you inspired the mechanic side in me =)
For all the hard work you've done throughout the years you earned a well deserved rest. This is a great opportunity for brainstorming of the next videos you can put out in the future to keep your channel growing Eric.
more fairmount videos? ilot videos? i actually just came into owning a pilot myself. the 2005 model to be exact and boy was i in the right timing to install my own transmission cooler! i had coolant going into the transmission!
As a professional moved person..Transfered all over the world and america.. like 12 times..One learns to be very through on packing items... Use special containers for easy access later in the transition phase of moving storge etc.. Label boxes very well.. wrap items so they dont get messed up... like tool trays i would saran wrap them, ask why... electronice etc all in 1 box.. Even short moves damage items.. have a smile because its very tiring to do... Needed tools I move myself in car etc.. Sheet always happens so its nice to have certain tools available.. Or end up buying doubles..... I did a few corporate moves, You dont touch a thing they did it all... Pack crate store all done for me..still i had items in fast areas.. Then storage make a plan it aint fun moving stuff to get what you must have now........ have fun...... Mark boxes too..more then 1 side..
Ayo it’s my birthday, thanks for the wishes and the digital confection. Saw this in my recommended and hadn’t watched yet so figured I would. Best wishes for the moving process, loved your videos for years.
Hello Eric first of all, I would like to let you know that I enjoy your informative videos. I recently did a throttle body cleaning on a 2009 Honda CRV 2.4L four wheel drive. The throttle body was definitely gummy & dirty. The idle had a slight shake and hesitation coming to a red light or 4 way stop before the air intake cleaning. Now, the SUV runs smoother but with an abnormal high rpm above 1000 parked at idle. Also, the vehicle surges up & down at cold starts. Once the engine warms up, the RPM settles at around 1,200 but with a check engine light & engine code P0507 for idle air control valve at high RPM! Gosh, I hope I didn't damage the IAC. I tried everything from disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes, doing the reset/relearn Honda procedure including driving the vehicle for a while on the streets & expressway and I even bleeded the coolant system from any air pockets since I disconnected two coolant lines. But that didn't help out either. I cleaned the throttle body without removing the assembly and had someone hold down the gas pedal to keep the throttle plate open. Hopefully, you or some of your fellow mechanics could give me an idea in what might be going on. I'm a diesel mechanic employed to work on transportation coaches. Been a while that I worked on cars. Thanks for any advice you could give me.
It's a bummer that you got squeezed between two self-serving businessmen. At the end of the day I think that you will have your own place and that's the way to go. then you can do whatever you want whenever you want however you want and that's definitely the best plan
Hey Eric, You always have good advice whether car related or not. Like you, I’m a small business owner, with years of experience under my belt, I’m playing the clock until my junior graduates high school and I know the frustration. Hang in there brother
We miss you eric come back soon!

That's awesome
' it's business , move on & don't take it personally ' .... best advice ever & glad so much of Eric's stuff found good homes
Whether you take it personally or not in the end you have to do the best for your business.
Ironic statement coming from him considering he seems to take most things personally.
He was just trying to cope with it.
I hope you bring the channel back to active status when you get out of prison. Enjoy your videos.
one door closes another opens

I second this.
I have a feeling he is not planning on returning. He gave up alot of equipment and UA-cam only gets worse with each year. This may be his way of saying his final goodbye without some cringey clickbait title.
u have a good attitude how u are handling this. u are a inspiration.
lol he'll just pass any added costs on to his future customers... auto mechanics already want 500/hour, like theyre freaking heart surgeons or corporate attorneys, and all the rubes who are willing to pay it (mostly working single women) will happily continue.
My brother. Thank you for following Yoda and keeping away from Dark Side.
We definetly miss you eric. Hope you got a new shop.

That is awesome. I hope it works out as well for me.
Good luck on this move, look forward to hearing about the progress!
I'm getting old, but maybe some day I'll be able to pull this off myself. :)
Glad to find out all the equipment you gave away had come by donation. I thought 'why is he giving away all this horribly expensive stuff?!' lol! Keep up the great work!
It may have even been a deal with the sponsor to never sell it on?
ever tried paying rent on equipment/car/stuff you can't use that week/year i have it's expensive and frustrating ect. so maybe that's why
Best wishes my dude. It was fun while it lasted. I'll be here if you ever come.back
I WILL MISS YOUR VIDEOS, BUT RELAX AND HAVE FUN WITH THE FAMILY
Good Luck Eric, you have helped me heaps here in Australia.
Bigger and better things to come! I can’t wait!
wish you all the best.....

Hi! Good Luck!
Hey ETCG1 we'll be waiting after your respite.
Peace and Future 🙏
Looks like you did camera boom or drone videography inside your shop on the motion-pan take. Good to see you, Eric.
When you do build or buy your new shop make a video series on the process.
I am at work right now can’t wait to watch this whole thing tonight
It's an adventure.
You have such a positive attitude….. And a great mechanic two wonderful combinations…..
I am glad you are so upbeat. I wish you the best.
Good luck to you. Life, it's what happens.
GOOD LUCK BRO!!!!!!!!! WISH I WAS THERE I WOULD COME OUT TO HELP IN MY FREE TIME

Glad the stuff you gave away Eric Found great Homes and I agree its business don't take it personal
That's how you can tell if you made the right decision. If a time afterward you feel good about it. So I think your doing great.
I’m sure some people will leave, but I’ll be here when you get back. Take the time you need
It'll be a well deserved break Eric! We'll miss ya! Enjoy your time off and hope that all works out with regards to your new shop!
You got this. Hope to see you again soon!
Sounds like you have a good plan. Take it easy for awhile.

For all the hard work you've done throughout the years you earned a well deserved rest. This is a great opportunity for brainstorming of the next videos you can put out in the future to keep your channel growing Eric.
