On Jan 29, 2021 I had to do a double-take. I was about to leave when I saw something moving on my front lawn. Turned out, it was a lynx (or a bobcat) come to prowl my bird feeders. Such a majestic, beautiful animal!
Filmed from the comfort of my living room, using a Sony RX10IV camera.

So any experts out there who can tell me if this is indeed a bobcat or a lynx?
I'm not expert, but that is definitely a bobcat. Lynx have longer bangs at the sides of their heads and longer tufts on their ears. Moreover, the Canadian lynx has larger feet which allows it to move through snow, this one does not.
I agree with you, it’s a bobcat. Lynx have all the things you mentioned as well as, they have a black tip at the end of the tail (always) this one has white at the very tip (they both have black towards the end but lynx has no white tip, bobcats do
Another thing about Lynx - they have abnormally long hind legs, that make them look like they're eternally running downhill. This is a beautiful specimen of a Bob.
Glad to see that so many of those tuning in here know the difference between the two!

bobcat is lynx red - lynx red (bobcat) lynx canadian - lynx iberico spanish - lynx eurasian ;)
Bobcat. They can both vary a lot in size and coloring, but one sure sign is the tail. The Canadian Lynx' tail usually looks like it's been dipped in ink, black tip all around, while the bobcat's is usually banded, with lighter color or white on the underside.
Lynx also has tufts on ears.
Bobcat.
They are absolutely gorgeous. You were so priviledged to see this beautiful and gracious animal on your front lawn!
Lynx
That's a bobcat and a big one. Lynx are even bigger with longer hind legs and tufted ears. Beautiful animal!
Definitely a Sabretooth Tiger. This is a rare kitten that hasn't grown out it's elongated fangs yet. The cropped tail and pointed ears are the giveaway of this extinct cat.
Finally somebody gets the true answer!! LOL
It’s Tony the Tiger! He’s Great!!
Bro it's a lynx not a saber tooth, Saber tooth's won't be here for a while
That is bobcat. Lynx have long legs and tails
@@brandonbogart7195 And HUGE paws !
Gosh! He’s a handsome boy. ❤️🐱❤️
i love how careful and intentional it is with its steps
If you look carefully, there are already holes in the snow. It is walking in its own tracks.
I ain't gonna quit walking till I see a freaking palm tree
That'll be a VERY long walk my friend!
A very very nice looking bobcat!
Meravigliosa creatura ♥️🐾🐾
Utterly beautiful!!!♥️🇮🇹🇬🇧Bobcat 😻
Bobcat, majestic and beautiful critters..
It's a beautiful male bobcat. Lynx have pointier ears
Bobcat, I believe that the tabby fur pattern is a give away. He is a gorgeous cat!
Wow, just beautiful, could watch this forever ❤
Bobcat. Majestic.
You were very fortunate sir. In my 65 years, i have only seen one in the wild. It was a big boy just like this one in the dirt road driveway to my dad's old sawmill. They cat be elusive critters. I bet you they have seen me in the woods way more times than i ever saw them.
Just beautiful. I am very envious.
I think its.. Pretty 🥰🥰🥰🥰
You are lucky. Not many see a bobcat in the wild.
You got that right. In my 65 years i have only seen one in the wild. It was a big boy just like this one on a dirt road driveway to my dad's sawmill.
@@tonyprice2256 Really? Must be the area you’re in. I’m much younger but have seen at least a dozen bobcats in my life. I’ve seen 3 or 4 lynx too, and they’re even cooler in my opinion. But I grew up in northern Maine, which is pretty remote. I imagine that’s why
I’ve been all over the country but still haven’t seen a cougar in the wild though. I’d love to
@@hlf_coder6272 Yes. I grew up in very rural area of Western Massachusetts. It is wooded, but not as vast as Northern Maine. You probably had a higher population of them up there. They are down here as well, but they tend to be elusive. I would bet that both you and i have been seen by them more times than we ever saw them. The same is probably true in cougar country. I have seen plenty of black bear. They don't seem to be as shy with humans as cats are.
The Canadian Lynx can be differentiated from the American Bobcat by looking at the paws. If they're wide like snowshoes, It's a lynx. Bobcats have smaller feet, and can't walk on top of the snow like their northern cousins, so what happens is what we see here.
How beautiful!!
WOW 😯 You lucky duck 🦆 What an absolute BEAUTY 🖤🐅🖤
I definitely feel very lucky to have witnessed it.
Omg, how beautiful individual🐆💕
beautiful animal
Thanks for this…..lovely animal and lucky you.
What a wonderful creature! I hope it gets to live without being trapped or shot.
bobcat is on the prowl for food, and can't be bothered with the fascinated human...
This cat is stunning
Gorgeous 💖😻💖
Very beautiful.
Definitely a bobcat. Bobcats are more "domestic cat"-like in appearance. Lynxes have a different overall physique. Either way, outstandingly beautiful animals.
Yes, they could almost pass for a Siberian, Maine Coon, or Wegie apart from the telltale tail!
Yeah a Bobcat......they tend to be more yellowish (rather than brown/grey).....they have pattern markings on their back (where lynx tend not to), they haver shorter legs, shorter ear tufts, and they are of course typically smaller, but he's a big bobcat.
That’s a bobcat. You can tell by the white underside of the tail and the relative lack of king ear tufts, having only short tufts instead
Looks like a bobcat. Very cute!💗
What a beautiful cat
That's a bobcat, I watch too many of my grandpa's old camping tapes. And he taught me the difference between the two, lynxes are bigger than bobcats with grey fur, and long black ear tufts. But this was a very lucky encounter, and amazing to see.
Beautiful! Notice how he steps in the previously made prints? Wondering if they were his originally? They're at the right distance for him. So fascinating to observe.
A truly majestic cat . A beautiful specimen.
Yup everyone's right. I look at the paws, the tail, markings and color . I'd bet you're also not far enough north to suspect Lynx. Most of the US is bobcat country. Lynx need deeper snow to out compete Bobs.
Absolutely gorgeous bobcat.
So cute cat 🥰
Wonderful cat!
Qué bella criatura!!!
Big kitty.
Beautiful cat that can be.
Beautiful cat!
If that's a Bobcat IT IS a BIG Bobcat............
Lynx paws are huge. Def Bobby
Bobcat
Yes, looks like a Bobcat to me
Most likely Bobcat. Assuming North America.
Practically no tufts on the ears, tail with specific coloration, shorter legs, smaller paws - all Bobcat traits compared to a Lynx.
🌅 ବଢ଼ିଆ ମଜା ମାନେ ଶଇ ଟୁବୁଗି କାଡ଼ିନି 🌹🌹
Bring them back to the UK🤞🤞🤞
Merveilleux
Aaah such a beautiful bobcat
I wouldnt even be near him nor no other big cats
wow, it walked in the previous paw tracks!
It's definitely a bobcat, You can tell the difference, because the lynx got longer legs and snowshoe paws
I am sure it would happily respond to the traditional
KITTEH-call....HereKittehKittehKitteh!
Great bobcat footage, it even used your footprints to walk in to conserve energy.
He's just doing some kitty things.
Beautiful Bobcat. I've always thought they looked like grey Tabby cats on steroids.
amazing
Yep, bobcat. White tail
Beautiful cat 🐈!!❤❤❤
A cute one for sure, a bobcat imo. The paws are small, the pattern of the fur and coloring of the tail all point to it.
Lynx have tufted ears, huge paws, and generally more gray fur coat.
Bobcat.
At 1st glance I Knew it was a bobcat.
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Lot's of them in Northern Ontario, Canada
Thanks
Concure with most, bobcat, lynx ears and overall conformation slightly different, beautiful animal wish the lynx that passes through my yard now and then would do it when the camera is in the house not the truck 😀
What a gorgeous and very majestic animal,But dont let the cute cuddly look fool you thats a very dangerous animal if cornered,I live here in NC and we see them on occasion and one got caught in a trap (unhurt) and talk about a mad boy he was pissed LOL
To look cool ya gotta walk cool
Chonkcat
No doubt it is indeed a bobcat. Cordially
Bobcat. Canada Lynx have larger proportional feet, longer legs in proportion to back length and longer ear tufts.
If not friend, why friend shaped?
It was a bobcat because lynx’s look more beat up. They have pointier ears.
Actually they have similar habits to any pet cat lol
Yup, bobcat - white under tail.
I know you're filming me, but instead of a 'fee,' I'll have some food 'cos it's damned cold out here !
Definitely a bobcat. Probably an older male cat.
Φιλανδία πολύ δυνατές γάτες και πολύ γλυκιες.κιταητε μικρογραφία πούμε.
He ia a Boobcat!
3 questions, if I may: Where in Canada are you located? Is there a difference between a bobcat and lynx? How are their populations in Canada? I’m moving to northern BC perhaps in mid-2023 and have been told there are mountain lions and lynxes. I’m only interested in protecting them, not hunting.
look at his walk, shotcaller for the block
Can we keep jungle cat at home
The question of if this is a lynx or bobcat is bait to get more comments, like this one
Actually, when I posted the video, this was an honest and sincere question on my part. Hope you enjoyed the footage.
A Links will have the hair coming off the tip of the ears
bobcat
That's a Bobcat
bobcat vs apbt who win
This had to be a domesticated bobcat....these animals rely on camoflage and stealth....but this cat is walking out in the open and being followed by a camera person as it seems...still a wonderful viewing.
It's a wild bobcat hunting rodents in the snow.
I filmed this cat from my inside my home, using a Sony RX10IV with a 24-600 mm zoom lens. The cat was not being followed nor was it aware of me. It was a surprise find on my very rural home. Not domesticated.
Yeah I'm stalking but doing it cool
It seems that this is a well fed, perhaps short or young, bobcat that's not very spotted .... but is in a nice, mostly grey, warm winter coat! That may make him resemble a lynx more than usual! No matter how sweet he looks,
he can turn on the 'tiger' any time he wants to. I did see a Canadian lynx here in upstate NY many years ago. He
looked as big as my 120 lb. German Shepherds ~ but probably most of the 'big' = was the luxurious fur! He slowly crossed the road in front of our car ~ and laid down to watch us go by, so very unconcerned! We were deep in the
remote mountains, late one spring night, in a place where there are no houses or farms, just forrest, for ten very
steep mountain miles or so. Also was fortunate to see a mountain lion in that same county, about 60 years ago!
He had, sadly, just been shot by a neighbor/farmer and was in the his car trunk ..still warm. Couldn't believe it ~ he was so soft and beautiful! Our God has blessed this earth with some magnificent animals!

It is a Lynx.
