Shoyan is an example of why Japanese carpentry is the very finest in the world. The attention to detail and the spiritual respect into every detail makes Japanese carpentry undeniably great. If money were no object I would have a modern day Japanese style home built. I find them the most beautiful in the world.
We could follow Mr Chickadee's example and build it ourselves! It'll just take us a lot of patience while we learn these beautiful methods. Let's try our best!
02:48 you want strange when it comes to boats and buildings? My family home was built 400 years ago. It was an old farm barn that was converted into two houses. The wood that makes up the roof and the beams is all reclaimed timber- formerly the wood was used in Tudor Navy ships from the time of Henry VIII, broken up at Bristol docks and the wood reclaimed for use elsewhere! 😂
Always SO relaxing to sit & watch you 'at work' Shoyan. I find it mesmerising to watch your sublime skills as you work your magic, they are 'second to none'. I don't think there could be a better carpenter in the world, seriously, you are the best. Cheers, Don from South Australia.

What blades do you use in the circular saw? Do you sharpen them or do you replace them? How often? I'd love to watch some videos from you about tool maintenance.
It must be wonderful to work with materials that have as much care put into their milling and preparation as whats put into the final product. We have to work with garbage lumber in canada

please mr shoyan, can you do a video on building standards? i like the look of the insulation and the impermable air membrane. how are standards enforced? do you agree with them?
Great skills demonstrated 💕. Instead of plaster board, I have wooden ceilings throughout my brick venner home in Australia, this is unusual but looks amazing.
Beautiful ceilings, excellent craftsmanship, it is a pleasure to watch you apply the many different aspects of your trade sir, thank you for the video.
@@BiohazarderV You're sharing information with people who really need that tool. That's wonderful. I am glad that my information has helped craftsmen all over the world. from Japan
Shoyan, can you please tell us the name of that tool 00:42 and where I can purchase one😲☝🏽? I’m based in Los Angeles in the United States. Hopefully I can find it here.
The circular saw? He has a Hitachi. A year or two ago Hitachi rebranded, or sold off or did something that resulted in Metabo tools (Lowes has them) in the US, and Hikoki in Japan and Australia and other places.
Beautiful work. If the bolts in the ridge beam loosened after a few months and needed to be re-tightened, won't that happen again? Using a thread locking product would seem to be a solution or a lock washer rather than a flat washer. We're faced with the same issues with bolts and nuts used for seismic hold down and wind shear.
The bolts aren’t technically loosening. The wood is shrinking. Thread locker won’t help. That’s why tall stick framed buildings in the US use continuous rod tiedown system with automatic shrinkage compensating couplers.
Fact: The average new home has approximately 300 gallons of water trapped in the new construction materials and will evaporate quickly. More so on homes with gypsum board construction.
Please stop posting so many 1-minute videos. I unsubscribed for a while because I was getting notified too many times about a new video but they were of the 1-minute variety that are largely a waste of time.
Really? They go out of their way to bring the content and this extremely high quality construction and you ask them to stop posting because your getting too many notifications? If i were them id block you. Anyway just change the notifications. 🤦

to avoid needing a lot of fasteners. the staples are just on the tongue and groove
So it doesn't squeak much in earthquakes, Japanese houses have to take into account earthquakes and typhoons

Sir, why do you not use an apprentice?
In some videos you'll see a helper, and in some a whole crew. I think the helper is his son.

👍👍👍
Why don't you put LOCK-WASHERS on the bolts if the become loose after 2 to 3 months?? Isn't that what lock-washers are for?

Hello, Shoyan! 😊 What will this covering be covered with?
What was that small tool in the beginning, used to tighten nuts to reach in very tight spaces (attaches to drill)? I've never seen those before.
