    I had an LG washer and dryer, the washer for 22 years and I konked it out by getting hand soap on a garment accidentally and suds went everywhere. I loved it but replaced it with an Electrolux because Consumer Reports had it as number one but it’s noisier than the LG, doesn’t show the cycles. I think I made the wrong choice. The high spin cycle puts out wetter clothes than the LG did so beware. Does it clean better? I really can’t tell. Doing it again, I’d get an LG.

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +2

      Wow 22 years is an amazing run for any modern appliance.
      The reason the Electrolux is louder, and doesn’t extract as much water is because it’s a belt driven washer. The LG is direct drive, making it quieter, smoother, and more energy efficient. As well as being to spin faster in the final rinse cycle.

    Are you still enjoying these? I found the pair for $1600 which seems to good to pass up, but it’s much larger then we need for only 2 people. Wondering if it’s still worth it? Do these lack any features of the other LGs outside of auto dispense and the fancy screen dial? Thank you!

    Thanks for sharing. They looks so pretty, I like it. I'm, however, considering the 9500 series but, those are models about seven years old or more and I'm wondering if LG is gonna make updates soon on that model. What do you think? And also, they can actually make changes without notice, do you know if DC drain pumps are being updated in all models, including "old" models like 9500?

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +1

      I’m not sure about the 9500 series. They do have the DC drain pump I think. My only reservation was all the electronic reside in the door, I’m not how sure robust they are. The look nice!
      Also don’t love how the detergent goes in the top, I like the smooth top to set things on and fold things. I also want a counter top over mine eventually

    I have the FH4U2 range washing machine in graphite had it over a year now and I still love it 😊👍🏻
    Like yourself I have the older style drum with the big grey paddles not the new small stainless steel ones I prefer a more aggressive wash and I just don’t think the new drum has that, but they have all the jets around the door seal and I like that mine only has one at the top like yours only works on turbowash jets them with clean water during rinse and spin that’s it but I don’t mind as everything always comes out clean! It has 6 motion and smart ThinQ too.
    My old lg intellow washer 7kg lasted 12 years before the drum went and that was my first ever brand new washing machine when I was 18yrs old in 2002 was untra modern and quiet back then everyone who seen it loved it especially the little song at the end 🎵🎵😄(that was the best bit for me and most people) 😆🤣🤦🏻‍♂️
    My sister has the direct drive from 2007 is only now just dying (spider support is corroded) but got her another refurbished lg exactly the same as mine except in white and mine is 8kg hers will be 10kg drum.
    I find them great I am now 39 on my 2nd one and had many makes and models in between my old lg intello washer dying and decided to go back to them as everything I buy off then lasts years and parts are easy to get hold of even for my sister old 2007 lg direct drive had no problem getting a new pump and cold water solenoid valve for it but wouldn’t of bothered if I knew the drum was going a couple of weeks after the 2 fix’s was pretty simple to fit parts to.

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +1

      Ah yes I purposely made sure that my new LG model had the older plastic paddles on the wash drum. I had read not only did they wash better, but they also were slightly gentler in the clothes. I think the new style is too stubby and also kinda rough compared to the smooth plastic.
      These LG units last a long time. I had worked on one that was 17 years old, it had a clogged drain pump, once cleaned out it worked great. It has been worked hard for almost two decades but still ran great.
      It think the spider arms should last at least 15 years if not more IF tub clean cycles are done often, small amount of detergents are used, not overloaded regularly, and the door and or detergent tray is left at least cracked for airflow.
      Honestly even the new LG AI washer is still mostly the same design since the early 2000’s once you take off the hood- and that’s a good thing!
      I sure do love these units. They just clean SO well and are so nice to use.

    Great video, hopefully years from now when it's time to get a new washer, I'll have to look into the LG models. How do you like that detergent? If you get the chance to review that detergent it would be nice plus any other detergent recommendations.

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +4

      Yes definitely check out some LG models. I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
      As for the detergent, I like it! I don’t use fabric softeners in my laundry- it’s not good for your machine, terrible for your towels, and can cause bacteria buildup in clothes and your machine so I don’t use it. I personally didn’t buy this laundry detergent but I guess it has a little bit of fabric softener mixed in?! It smells nice and cleans well.
      I’ve got about five different detergents. Currently, I usually use a plant-based liquid detergent. Maybe I’ll make a video on detergents soon!
      Thanks for commenting and stay tuned!

    I'm jumping between buying this and the WM6700HBA. Very difficult to choose since very little reviews I can find on both. One review on 6700 said it's only average with taking out stains which is why I'm hesitant to buy at all. ugh

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +1

      I’m not sure about the MW6700 but this one is incredible with stains, especially if pre-treated. I’ve never had a washer that cleaned my clothes so well. I’ve mostly used top load washers my whole life, this by far out cleans any of them. From lightly soiled too extremely dirty shop rags it gets everything clean.

    • @Thissandthat
      @Thissandthat  Рік тому +1

      I didn’t want the 6700hba because the matching dryer, you have to add water to a drawer for the steam feature. This is basically the face lifted version, and the dryer has its own water hook up.

      Hi! They have both been perfect. The dryer is 9.0 cubic feet. I actually made an update video, you might want to go watch that. But in that I mentioned that I didn’t brag on the dryer enough in this review. Since the dryer is so large, it it dries I put in it so well. I don’t go past the low, medium low heat setting and is still done in less than an hour, even with king comforters.
      Since I’m able to use it so effectively on the low heat setting my energy bill has been really low! I didn’t think having a large dryer would be this handy!

I’ve seen conflicting specs on the 8900 as to whether or not it has a built in water heater. The big box stores says it does but LG’s website says no. Hmm that’s very odd! I never heard of that happening. First thing I would try is changing detergent, secondly, if that doesn’t help pop off the top panel, it’s super easy with only two screws- pop off the vent tube in the back and maybe put a breathable sponge piece or some thing in there. That way you could still breathe, but maybe it would absorb some of the side effects getting up in that tube. Maybe that’s a bad idea, but at least that would be something. Take my advice with a grain of salt lol! Best of luck to you, I hope this helps

      When I got my second LG, a "haul away" WM3400, I decided since it has no water heater like my main LG, I would do an experiment. I would leave the door cracked (ajar) when not in use, but would not wipe the gasket or do *anything* to clean or dry it other than just... not closing the door all the way. I wanted to see if that was enough to prevent mold and mildew. It's in a mostly-finished part of a basement so not even the most ideal location, and I am pleased to report that after almost two years, not a single speck of mold and the gasket is totally dry every single time I open the machine to use it.

    never use speed cycle im italian we only have front load since ever and never use it! use powder detergent with bedding towels and hot temperature and 2.30h cycle once a week, liquid detergent cold for every day clothes, amd once every months a tub cleaning cycle with a proper cleaner and you will have a very clean machine, using speed cycle liquid and cold you will compalain about mol€ smell and nasty front load that dont wash like top load 😂

      We certainly don’t. we do our research, and demand more for our money. I’ve owned and worked on many whirlpool appliances. They are not what they once were, and the innovation isn’t there unfortunately.
      Whirlpool parts come from china and Mexico.

    • @dregenius

      Having sold, worked on, researched and gotten feedback on many thousands of appliances, I can say without a doubt that Whirlpool makes the absolute most *criminally* under-engineered, cost-cut, "minimum viable product" that anyone could spend real money on. It's absolutely shameful how resistant to innovation and quality Whirlpool is. Every single one of their modern washers is based on either their out of date front loader platform (which if I recall, they couldn't figure out how to design themselves so it originally came from the Philips european desgn they licensed) or even worse, a VMW top loader, which is the type of machine you can tell they'd prefer to *only* make. Single-speed induction motor buzzing and clunking, with the only change in agitation its capable of being buzzing in each direction for a different length of time. Plastic gears, plastic everything, and it's all HIPS too, it's hilarious how Whirlpool can't even bring themselves to use polypropylene like LG (PP is what car bumpers are made from, HIPS is what tic-tac boxes are made of... think about how durable one of them is, and how crunchy and brittle the other is!) and then after the 40 year old top loader is done spinning at 600 RPM, the sopping wet clothes go into the 6,000 watt electric furnace that is the lint-top Whirlpool dryer with a door that, if leaned on, will literally buckle the whole front of the tin-can appliance and is suspended on generic hardware store hinges and held together with wood screws... a *literally* 63 year old design that, while "good enough"... is the furthest thing from innovation I can possibly imagine. To think that Whirlpool markets a "Pet Pro" version of this dryer and tries to claim that it has an "XL pet hair lint filter".... fuck off Whirlpoop, that b*tch-ass lint trap is the same sh*t you been making for 63 years and you know it. So yeah, our generation not only doesn't like Whirlpool/Maytag, we outright despise them for everything they stand for - entitled boomers who think it's their god-given right to use 5+ kilowatts of electricity and over a hundred gallons of hot water to (less effectively) wash a load of clothes. I do find it hard to feel bad for the boomers who keep buying whirlpool and maytag simply because "They were always a good brand"... no boomer, they were the only brand because your old asses lobbied for a 20% import duty on foreign laundry appliances to ensure whirlpool could keep making the same ancient underperforming junk, so you just didn't know any better! lmao

      It depends on a persons clothing and needs. Front load washers simply clean better. The barrel on its side it’s more efficient at pulling the water through the fabric, and then extraction of the water, and being way easier on clothes.
      Maybe if you work on a farm and need that old school agitation on your jeans 👖! Speed queen is about the best when it comes to long term reliability no doubt!

      OK, Mr. grumpy! One of the reasons I bought it was because it’s a direct drive machine. 12 different wash cycles, but you can download about 20 more on the app if you would like. It has five different temperature settings.
