I know I'm years late to this video, but am so glad to find it and your channel! I'm planning the same project on a budget. Thank you so much for this walkthrough, very pleasantly done :)
Like the finish product. I did a shower and bath tube both in my house and they came out nice also. Great job on your part keep the videos coming. I am retired and trying to watch the DIY videos to help with the house me and my better half just bought.
I appreciate the "long" video!! it's very helpful and has inspired me to do the acrylic shower pan in my bathroom....just the pan as the walls are tiled.
Good afternoon TD , I should start with this is the first one of you videos I've seen , and I've been doing Home Renos for over 25 yrs . And for all the different things I've done over the years , the one thing that is the most common thing on the list of how/what to do , bar none , is ...prep work ... and just when you think you've done enough ....do more ( this especially true for DIYer's ) So good to see you made that point clear. I also think that fact that your wore a respirator instead of the little mask you said they sent you . It's really tough to stay focused and patient doing that kind of job , with a pounding headache . And when it came time to actually paint , I don't understand why you bagged up the whole shower head and hose , vs just removing it . I'll bet it was in your way and also cast shadows on your work . But I also have to question you when you say that it will cost you $ 6000 to have your shower replaced . For 6 grand , you better be getting the entire bathroom redone . And that would be with a nicely tiled shower and a good quality valve and shower head , New toilet , vanity and sink/taps lite fix etc. So to imply that you're saving 6 grand by doing your own shower , I think is a very misleading statement . Plus what did the plumber and new taps cost ? My comment is not intended to be negative , but merrily a statement . I'd also like to have seen some close up views of how the shower actually turned out . As I clicked on your video because I'm always watching for different products and how they work . But however things worked out , I happy that you , are happy . And really , that's all that really matters . Thanks
I've been wanting to paint my tub and shower but never knew anyone who did it, and I wanted to know it would work first, so thank you for doing this video.
Wow. That looks great. My wife and I just purchased the house and we seriously need to update beautify the bathroom, especially the shower stall. this is definitely a cheaper option and again, it looks great! will probably go this route. Thanks for the video!
Wow, you're an impressively hard worker! Well done! Thank you for your excellent, thorough tutorial, "showered' with motivating enthusiasm, complete with suggested resources and useful step by step instructions.
Then you definitely need to try this, Dolly! :) Every time I shower in it, it makes me realize how much I love the results. It's been months now and it's still holding up!
I just found your channel last week and I'M IN LOVE! I'm a huge DIYer and my husband and I have been fixing up our home (was a foreclosure) and the shower is an ugly beige color. I'm so excited to paint it this weekend! Can't wait to go through and watch more of your videos!!! THANK YOU!
Glad I could help you, Jessica! Congrats on finding an awesome foreclosure. I'm sure after you fix it up you'll be adding lots of value on top of the already great deal you probably got when you bought it. Just make sure you follow the instructions for Bathworks exactly and put most of your time in the prep work, and you should have great results. :)
@@ThriftDiving i just bought my first house and my shower and tub are yellow, how well did this product last?? I need to do the same to my shower and tub
Just come across you as I googled how to paint a shower tray, saw your video and have to say I'm very impressed, just hope I can get that product in the UK 🇬🇧 😀. And I've subscribed.
dropndeal Good on ya, I’m 24 raised on a farm in a family that owned rental properties, my fiancé still teaches me things. Then again, her dad was a handyman himself and was building a house while she was growing up so she learned a lot, I can’t imagine any handymen coming to our house any time soon.
You'll love how it turns out! Just take time to prep properly and it will turn out. It's been years now and it still looks good. No problems with peeling or chipping. There are 2 small chips near the drain which I think is due to putting a metal drain catcher there. But that was a couple years ago. No other chips. I would do this project again in a heartbeat. Good luck!!
This solved a significant problem for me as I was skeptical of the cheap kits at the local stores. Thanks for taking the time to document AND show a ten month review.
I've been nervously researching this project for six months. I'm a DIY'er myself, you actually gave me a little courage to go for it. This product seems like the only one on the market with primer.(correct me if I'm wrong) As my dad the painter says...don't paint anything without proper prep work. Thank also for showing mishaps. It happens. SUBSCRIBED! 😉
Wow, six months! Sounds like you are just as skeptical as I was about whether it can actually work. :) I agree with your dad: it really is all about the prep work. I spent a lot of time on it just to make sure there was no problem with adhesion. Don't gloss over that part, for sure. Yes, this has a primer. It was like a little bottle of liquid primer. Hopefully it helps adhesion! :)
Thrift Diving I purchased this kit and its literally sitting in my basement. Would you give a six month update please. My husband says he's going to call the professionals to come do it. I do not want to give them $700 for this.( I'm very frugal) I don't know why I'm this hesitant. I built a freaking bar ALONE in my basement.
Thank you! This was a huge help. I have a shower I have to redo and was wondering how hard it was. This video made me feel way better about doing it. I will definitely be buying this kit
Thank you so much for doing this! I have an old tub/shower I've been wanting to paint for years , but my courage always failed. You've made me see that it is possible! Thank you so much.
Just stumbled across this when we are getting to do a lot of remodeling stuff within our home. Thank you for poating, very helpful and informative. Love it ❤
thank god for your video....I have prepped my shower stall for painting, but will get the product you used as any stores I've been in either have nothing or seem to have this n that, but very sparse selections for similar products. Very easy to follow and I love the outcome of the shower. Hopefully mine will turn out the same ;)
You need to do what I did and take an old drill and make a custom drill scrub brush. I don't have to scrub hard any more and it was so easy to make. I have white tile with white grout and it had made my life so much easier.
We are getting ready to move and I wanted to freshen up our master bath. We took the yucky shower door and frame off. I decided I wanted to just use a curtain instead of putting on a new door. I watched your video to show me what I was up against. I am excited to go to Home Depot and get the kit so I can get started. Wish me luck!

GirL, you've done an amazing job with painting your shower. Because of this video, I have subscribed to your channel and because it was just what I was looking for. We are new homeowners and looking to do some things ourselves to save money because like you said who has$6000 to replace the entire shower. I can't wait to take on this project. You have some GREAT videos! GREAT JOB! And your bathroom looks beautiful😉
Aww, thanks! I'm so glad you found it helpful! I know what you mean about saving money--it's not just when you first move in, but it's also BEYOND when you move in, too! Because trying to improve a home is expensive. So I'm glad you were able to find this solution to your ugly shower. too. :) Keep me posted on how it goes!
Awesome VIdeo. Thanks for doing this. I have a 6' shower with walls & floor very similar to yours. I am glad now, to see that this can be done. This will save me lots of $$.
I really really love your channel. You do a great job showing/explaining the steps. I follow a lot of channels I rate you right there at the top. Thank you!!

Well, there IS a production company that keeps hounding me for an interview, but it likely wouldn't turn into anything, so I have been dodging them. LOL :) So glad that you like my videos, Saadia!
@@ThriftDiving this is from someone that is in love with your videos. I just found you online. Loving it. Is there a new product that you could recommend? Or is this the best that you know of? I have an olive green shower in the master bath. Love green, but this is a bit much. lol You are very inspiring. Thank you so much
Wow this looks incredible!! I’m so excited because we just bought a house with a very dark green tub. I feel confident now to try and paint it! Thank you so much for this video! Subscribed to your channel 😍👍
YAY! Thank you for subscribing! Yep--you can totally get rid of that dark green tub with this paint. Do two coats for full coverage! I'll be posting another video shortly where I painted my neighbors powder blue tub with this same kit and it turned out super nice too!!
@@rspivey53 Go Troll someone else....Laquer, Enamel, Latex, Epoxy, Polyurethane, Polyaspartic, Polyurea, Emulsion, Or what she is using...'Porcelain Enamel' are all PAINT. So yes it is PAINT. In fact, the can she is using actually says "Finishing Paint" right on it.
Great video! I am going to resurface a shower pan which is fibreglass or vinyl - not sure. I guess the most important thing is to make sure you use the roller well for paint application so you don't see an tracking? Good job!
Dremel Versa tool offers a lot of cleaning pads, and I would suggest that the preparation (removing soap residue, etc.) is best done with that tool to avoid scratching/gouging the old surface.
You made this look so easy. I am getting my ideas together and ran across your video. Thanks for the inspiration! Nice job on the video too, by the way. You did a good job on that.
Thanks for making this video. I wish I knew about this product when I was getting my old house ready to sell it. My shower looked just like yours (in the "before" state) and I could not get it clean enough to save my life. This product would have covered up all of that. Next time I'll know!
It really is! When I shower in it daily I think to myself about how much nicer it looks. I couldn't have transformed that bathroom without this painted shower!
Looks like you did a good job! My husband and I resurface bathtubs, counter tops and tile for a living and it can be super expensive to replace. I hope the kit you got held up pretty good bc we mainly work with apt complexes but most of our residential calls are from people that have used these kits and where they messed up. Anyway, cool video ;)
I get so weary from you tubers who add music and try to be fun and cute because I am on a quest for info, not entertainment. But your personality is so charming while you present much needed demo and info, I am delighted. I have 40 year old similar and wondering do you know if this is fiberglass or acrylic? Mine has two walls of some kind of sheeting glued to the wall with soap dishes in the corner. I bought valspar bonding extreme adhesion and then plan to paint over it because of so many fails I read of your chosen product. Is it still holding up ok? I love the meticulousness and dedicated approach you demo, and I thank you for your style and inspiration as well as savvy. Blessings! And thanx to commenters as well.
Awww, I am just now seeing your comment! I'm sorry for that! I appreciate it so much! My shower is fiberglass. Did you ever get yours painted? I'm about to post an update video this week about how my shower has held up, so I was reading the comments to make sure I didn't miss any specific questions or comments that I can address in the update video. Be on the lookout for the update!!!
THANX since then this old house with slanted floors are starting to slant more and more so I am concerned about investing any more time or money on repairs. At 81 with a grandma who lived to be 100, I am hoping the house outlives me, it is circa 1950.@@ThriftDiving
You do such great projects🤗 i really want to try thia rather than removing all the tile, to much dust dirt and up and down the stairs cutting tile etc.... this looks so much neater and easier. I want to do the floors
Yeah, give it a try, for sure! It can't hurt. I look at it this way: if I try a product and it doesn't work, as long as it doesn't make things more expensive to fix, then it can't hurt to try. The worse thing that can happen is that you end up just getting a new shower anyhow. :) But this has held up nicely!
I just found you through Pinterest and I just wanted to let you know that you are awesome!! Your creativity is just out of this world and I wish you the best with your channel (like millions of subs 😊) wow you really are amazing. Keep up the good work👍🏼I'll be sharing your channel with my friends and family. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us😊☺️ Have a great day!!
Well done! I love this video! The fact you filmed all the steps is extremely helpful and necessary for us "green" folks! I would love to know how the shower is holding up now that time has gone by?
Hey, Sher! The tub is holding up well! Here's what I've been telling the folks who are looking for an update: I did a follow-up video here (ua-cam.com/video/WRZAmHNjvEk/v-deo.html) where you can see what it looked like 10 months later. But since THAT video, it's been an additional 9 or 10 months and it still looks the same. I still have to fix the small chip at the drain, but aside from that, it's holding up as promised. I am going to do another video on how to clean it and I'll show you how I fix the small chip. But aside from that, it still looks good. It's not peeling!
My father in law refinishes showers and tubs. He did my mother in laws shower in a Gray color. Cause that's what she wanted. He used a spray gun and it turned out great. It's still looks great 2 years later.
I like that you used an actual hard to get into and odd designed shower stall. So many videos use pristine flat wall surfaces with no obstacles and this is never the case in real life. Same question as Hellcat, the video is stamped March of 2017, how does it look after five years (if you still live there)?
Just seeing your comment! Sorry for that. I'm going to be posting a follow-up in the next week! Don't miss is. ;) I'll show you what it looks like now.
Love tour channel! I really enjoy doing DIYs and dare I say it I’m better at handling a power tool than my other half but with kids aged 5 months and 3yrs its kind of hard to find the time. added with the fact that we live in a tiny house in England which means any little project takes up so much space, we have nowhere to escape 😩 Alright, I’ll carry on binging on your videos now
Hey there in England! :) I know what you mean--having kids and other responsibilities, but little space makes it challenging for sure! Do you have a backyard or patio to work on projects?
Thrift Diving yes we have a garden and a lot of nosy neighbours. Don’t know about you guys but I live in a terraced house and we share walls with our neighbours. I guess I just need to pretend no-one can see me, lol
You should try using bar keepers friend to clean stuff. It works pretty well but it drys out skin. It’s almost too strong. We use it to clean bathtubs, bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks (ceramic sinks) (to get the scratch/scuff marks from the pots and pans off) and a lot of other stuff. I’m saying this because it reminds me of that comet stuff you used. (Same packaging)
nice video thank you. My concern is the final look. Is it shinny when finished, or does it looked painted. Does it shine as a car or fridge shines? Or the look of a painted door?
Great demo! Wonderful idea. However, I would like to know about care of the painted surface. Once the job is done, how long will it continue to look good, and how can it be cleaned without damaging the painted surface?
Hey there! I did this project in early 2017 and it's been a year and a half now and it still looks good. I am going to do an update on it very soon! If you subscribe to my channel and hit the little bell to be notified, you won't miss it when I do the update. :) I think as long as I take care of it, it will look good. I clean it with the recommend stuff, such as scrubbing bubbles, and just wipe off the dirt and soap scum. You can't use things like Comet or anything that is abrasive. :)
Thanks for this, I was watching other people and their failure stories and this just boosted my confidence in it again. I have this UGLY tile in my kitchen and bathroom and I have to do something about it
Nice work and it was not long--just right!!! Will help a lot of people who use this option!!
Thanks! It's still holding up after all these years!

Thank you for sharing this video. Can you provide the updates after 2 years? I heard the painting may be peeled off in a while.
Great video! I am going to resurface a shower pan which is fibreglass or vinyl - not sure. I guess the most important thing is to make sure you use the roller well for paint application so you don't see an tracking? Good job!
This was super helpful! I'm anticipating we'll want to paint some bathroom fixtures in our new home so I feel I know what I'm in for now.
I have the same kit it came with gloves and all it's very nice. It looks so good thank you! So hardworking and determined :)
Awww....thanks for the compliment! How did your shower turn out?
OMG thank you for making this video. I was prepared to demo my old tub and shower but after seeing this I'm going to keep it and refinish it!
Dremel Versa tool offers a lot of cleaning pads, and I would suggest that the preparation (removing soap residue, etc.) is best done with that tool to avoid scratching/gouging the old surface.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I have a 1970 looking shower stall in my basement and I can't really afford to do a total renovation!
You made this look so easy. I am getting my ideas together and ran across your video. Thanks for the inspiration!
Nice job on the video too, by the way. You did a good job on that.
Nice job 👍
Thanks for making this video. I wish I knew about this product when I was getting my old house ready to sell it. My shower looked just like yours (in the "before" state) and I could not get it clean enough to save my life. This product would have covered up all of that. Next time I'll know!
I've Been Thinking Workshop Great point! You are so right! These are the kind of easy and inexpensive upgrades that can make a house ready for sale!
Never doubt the power of paint! It's another bathroom!
It really is! When I shower in it daily I think to myself about how much nicer it looks. I couldn't have transformed that bathroom without this painted shower!
You are did a fabulous job. Very impressive!
Thank you. I have to try this. My bathroom could use a make over. Thanks again.
It has been a year since you painted your shower. How is it holding up? Can you give us an update or share a photo?
Wow! this is fantastic. I love how this turned out and i will definitely have to try this out in my master bathroom. :)
Love this, thank you so much, you've given me hope for my awful apt bathroom!
Your new shower looks fantastic!! Very attractive and professional work, thanks for your video, great job 👍
You have given me courage! Thankyou💕
That means so much to me, Patricia! Thank you!! :)
Thrift Diving
Thank you for the update! Great to hear it has held up well! Happy Refurbishing 😃
good job I am a diy er and I think your video is great
My father in law refinishes showers and tubs. He did my mother in laws shower in a
Gray color. Cause that's what she wanted. He used a spray gun and it turned out great. It's still looks great 2 years later.
Yeah, spray guns work really well!
Wow!!! This is amazing ,do you think this would work for a camping trailer??
Thanks so much! I have the EXACT same shower. Was looking for a viable solution. I'll give this a try!
Love tour channel! I really enjoy doing DIYs and dare I say it I’m better at handling a power tool than my other half but with kids aged 5 months and 3yrs its kind of hard to find the time. added with the fact that we live in a tiny house in England which means any little project takes up so much space, we have nowhere to escape 😩
Alright, I’ll carry on binging on your videos now
Hey there in England!
Thanks for the suggestion! :)
Love 💗💗💗💕🤩seriously considering! My shower would take much more time buuuuuut you know what it’s cheaper than replacing 😬
nice video thank you. My concern is the final look. Is it shinny when finished, or does it looked painted. Does it shine as a car or fridge shines? Or the look of a painted door?
Was that a vinyl show.It looks like a great idea .
It's a fiberglass shower. :)
Thank you for the info I will be doing the same for my shower thank you for saving me some money
Wow it looks great. Is it still look this good after a few years a d would u doit again. Were the chemicals harsh when u hada shower
You look mad beautiful 💐 GREAT WORK ON THE TUB AS WELL...
Love your channel! Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas.
+Rosa Reyes Awww.. thank you!!
Thank you for showing this entire thing!
Thanks for this, I was watching other people and their failure stories and this just boosted my confidence in it again. I have this UGLY tile in my kitchen and bathroom and I have to do something about it
A great job. You are so brave.
