Guys I just bought bangoods and it’s bad it didn’t come it want stolen it took 4. Months and I live in china
Hey which type test website was that? looked pretty cool.
hi can you tell me the name of the background music? 0:43
Hey Squashy, I appreciate you exploring other methods of lubing your keyboard but I think this video could be really dangerous. I watched the whole video just to be sure of your conclusion, I know you show that it does have some issues, but I feel you should really stress that people should not do this. The key-registry problem you had is not unique to "overlubing" and can happen with the smallest of sprays, completely randomly. It happens due to lube getting on the switch leaf and preventing proper contact. I've spray lubed many boards, and found it is incredibly hit or miss and should not done on someone's only keyboard.
With spray lubing it's entirely possible to do everything "right" and still completely ruin a keyboard (the presses not registering does not magically fix with time). As creators that get boards for free, it's really low consequence for us to spray lube. I think it's good for people to explore other methods, but as a creator we have to be more careful to not lead people to ruin their boards thinking it is do-able. Also, the fumes for spray lube are very toxic and people should be wearing a mask and eye protection when doing this to not harm themselves. I'm not saying this as an eliteist, but as someone concerned for people just getting into the hobby stoked to have a good sounding board.
i remember seeing a geekhack thread pinned telling people to absolutely not spray lube at all as well
@@kitkat6703 And to be entirely honest, I was on that thread defending spray lubing because the reasons they were providing were superstitious and pretty gatekeepy.
But after having significantly more experience with it now, I now agree people should not do it. (Albeit for different reasons than that thread)
Bruh his comment was longer than my essays at school f in chat
Thank you for your testimony Hipyo. That comment was well written and made me dig for the original geekhack thread. And convinced me not to attempt that on my board because of the randomness/long term possible trouble. Thank you again for sharing.
Edit: Also discovered your channel and subscribed, looks like you have superb content to share.
@@JonathanGallodajay Thank you for coming to my ted talk and thanks for the sub I appreciate it! I really just don't want to see people ruin their boards because UA-camrs have done it.

You're goddamn right
Chunchunmaru
So you're telling me that I can take the switches off, and spray lube them. It will be faster than going by hand, and will remove the risks of spraying on the PCB.
Yep
the issue is that the spray lube can cover the metal contacts, which makes the key presses unreliable

i just grabbed a little thin brush, pressed down on the switch, then lubed the sides, made a HUGE difference and works perfectly for me

Someone didn't listen to Wildcat... You have to shake the Super Lube can for a very long time and keep shaking in between spraying the switches. That part is super important
That type of spray lube where you have to shake it is unique to Korea and is in fact, bootleg superlube watch the hipyotech video
When I first got into mech keyboards, I lubed my Gateron browns. I later realized how inconsistent it is and how it kind of dries up over time. I then later opened up each key to dry then lube it with Krytox and this time I didn't lube the legs and got my tactility back. I'd only recommend spray lube on cheap linear switches, or blues so they won't be as loud

You can use spray lube in a better way. If you want to be extra safe, you can take the mechanical switches out of the PCB/Keyboard, and spray the switch by itself.

ive been lubing like this for a long time with all my keyboards. i did it with my miya pro with ttc gold pinks. works great. ive never had the issue with the keyboard missing presses. but i dont use spray. i squirt in silicone lube.

That dream style intro. Nice
I am a professional dumbass so i spray lubed my 2 really cheap keyboards. They both have outemu red switches. I used diferrent lube based on silicon because i didn't want to wait 2-4 weeks for this specific spray lube to arrive from amazon and i was really suprised it's actually working pretty damn good. Im using them since 1 week and had no issues at all. Also i read somewhere that you need to shake the can at least for 1 minute to lower the chance of destroying your keyboard but i don't know if i was just lucky that my 2 keyboards are working or because i used different spray lube but im happy with my results lul. Also i sprayed in the top left corner of the switch so away from the contacts.
What spray did you use?
@@HipyoTech it's called eurol PTFE Super Lube Spray and I don't think it's available outside Poland
@@sendycatthekiller6483 when you shake it does it make a metal sound? I'm trying to investigate which sprays actually don't ruin keyboards
@@HipyoTech yeah it does
Dielectric grease worked for me. Sort of a pain to apply some on the sides of the switch housing. Once you get a little bit where the switch rubs against the housing... hit the switch a few times and it's smooth. I think the spray lube is tooooo messy lol.
i kinda want to get some of that super lube spray and spray it into a little container and use an eyedropper to lube the switches
Wow thats crazy the spray lube sounded the best
if you think about it. If you spray the lube in to the switch it will also cover the contact points. so its probably not the best idea.
gonna do this to my hotswappable keyboard
how is your hotswappable keyboard doing now?
Why not before spray on a glass and then use a dropper for throwing 4 or 5 drops inside the switch ? Using this method you have a better control the amount of lubber oil you put inside
Smart that's why I use chain lube it works super super well and you just put a few drops in.
The spray lubed sounds the best with the vanilla unlubed. The painfully lubed sound the "less best".
If I had to chose based on sound, I take the spray lubed.
spray lube gives it a satifying pop sound when it starts to come up
i was wondering in the future can i switch the stock switches with "GATERON" one or even with "CHERRY MX" is it possible ?
Yes,
Yes but you need to desolder the switches
It depends what keyboard you have.
"Now the key to spray lubing is that less is more"
great content for people who started to venture into custom keyboard world and awesome outro song btw heee ;D can i know the name of the outro pleaseeee
Finally my boy is back T^T
Would taking off the switches first (also keys, obviously) then spraying them with the spray lube be the best of both worlds? I think this makes the most sense for hot swappable keyboards.
I'm also interested in longevity: if you need to re-lubricate the sprayed switches more often than if you used Krytox.
Yes bro it’s 10 times better

Slowly becoming a keyboard channel and im not complaining
the lube im using is suppose to be for my trumpet moving pipes and it works very well
I got the dream manhunt vibe at the start of the vid
To those that want to spray lube, don't. The reason why :3ildcat's keyboards doesn't break is because the spray lube he has in korea is actually a knock-off version which does not harm your keyboard as much compared to the real ones as the formula in the spray lubes are different so if you would like to lube your board, don't spray lube it will cause more damage than its worth
for more information watch hipyo tech's video on spray lube
Not really it's the easiest thing in the world takes minutes to fix
Or maybe it's because he/she lubricates the switches outside the pcb. It is also done with optical switches, which are not based on the contact of two metal parts.
why not use mineral oil? doesnt harm electronics and its super cheap. Just 1-2 drops per key

self drying silicone spray are better for this kinda purpose
you may ask how can you know which silicone spray are dry or non drying type, the answer is you can't, you can only buy one and try it to know, spray on any surface and come back to see if its dried up for most part( it won't completely dry)
from my experience, the best drying type are from cyclo and wd-40 branded silicone spray, cyclo in particular stands out the most for me
