    Your video helped me so much with my project. I needed to replace the annular buffers on my MS290, so I didn't need a full teardown, but it was more than I had ever done. I would have never gotten to the next to the muffler without your help.

    Yesterday I took my 290 apart because the spark plug threads were stripped. Regardless, when it came time to put the kill switch wire in place, I couldn't remember how, so I happened to catch this video today and watch. When you took your kill wire off, I noticed how I think it's supposed to be, but I think you put it back the kill switch wire back the opposite way you took it off. For what it's worth. Great video, thanks.

    A tip with the intake boot, for future reference, zip tie around it tight enough to scrunch it up but loose enough to be able to cut it off with small cutters and not damage the boot.

    That saw doesn't look like it was used much. My local chainsaw guy says ethanol in pump gasoline is the poison that kills small engines like these. Ethanol eats up your carbs, seals, and ruins your cylinders and piston rings. It's best to use canned fuel these days.

    • @DBrisky37

    • @alexandercopeland2849

      I think they do but dont remember. I would have to look at mine close when i do my piston and jug. My 290 does the great compression and starts good and runs for 5-10 mins then lose power. Yes i looked at piston and scored as bad as the one in video.

    Hi Pete!!😀😀
    I love my Stihls but they are definitely harder to work on. The pro saws are a little easier than the home owners saws are.
    Does that saw come without a base gasket or has that saw been apart before?
    Take care my friend!!

    Someone needs to say it so I will. Way to much positive feedback in these comments. This guy wasted time in the disassembly taking off parts that can stay on during a top end rebuild of the MS290. And during reassembly, he incorrectly fed the shutoff wires. They should route through the center hole in the intake box for the grommet to seal out the dust.

    • @pmumola
      @pmumola 11 місяців тому

      You could’ve said it respectfully, instead you were degrading. Where’s your video?? This video was extremely helpful and allowed me to rebuild my MS290. Yes, the cut off wires were routed through the wrong hole on the video but still I had the memory to realize that from breakdown. Nevertheless, thanks for getting me through a successful project. I’m ready to cut wood!

      All stihl parts on the ms lines are made in china. Needed a carb for my ms361 dealer wanted $80 for one with Stihl Zama stamped and went online and ordered a Zama carb for $30.

      So basically going to the source that build the parts is cheaper then going to stihl dealer and Farmertec is the company that builds them.
