Can help me with a design of mine using this camera? I'm don't use FPV drones but I live stream airsoft and want this camera to transmit NVG gameplay videos to a receiver that connects to a livestreaming tablet via hsmi/usb. I also have a 3D printer for housing construction. Is this also usable during daytime? What's your recommendation for IR cameras (1080p 30fps preferred), battery (20hr life) and transmitter/receivers? Any other thoughts?
won't see any difference unless you can remove the IR filter I've seen CCTV cameras that malfunctioned & the filter gets stuck - sunlight produces a pink tinge during the day, at night would probably go more to magenta
Yea in the side by side comparison you can see how the Infrared light on the nearby security cameras is seen in the night eagle but not the polar. You could attempt to remove the IR filter but I have no idea how that would affect the overall image. To @robknight9406's point, on the analog night eagle there is a pink/purple hue so you would probably notice similar colors.
I think removing the IR filter from the polar might make the comparison pretty close. I'd rather buy a new camera than remove that glass IR filter that is glued down. Pretty much have to break it to remove it.
I just posted a similar video and glad to see someone else thought to attach ir light to the night eagle HD, i was able to power my ir with the cinebot30 fc 5v output and fly with 1100 HV to be super lightweight
Thank you. I just invest in walksnail but There HD pro although great in low light doe snot seem as impressive as this camera, I assume you can not just swap the camera to a walk snail VTC correct, otherwise Runcam would have offered this option?@@SwainixFPV
I know it wasn’t part of this test but in your experience how does it compare to the Analog night camera. I know there will be caveats with the lower resolution and potential mutipathing from analog.
I prefer this one to the analog night eagle. The analog has a pinkish hue during the daytime since its in color (you could always change it to BW to counter this). It also does have a very noticeable fisheye warp that I haven't seen on other cameras.

With the IR/Night eagle setup you will see much better and don't have to get a super bright LED on your drone. If you're filming at night a conventional LED could ruin the exposure of the footage whereas an IR light won't affect natural lighting at all

It is! Went there today to check it out during daylight and they are security cameras. I’d love to see footage from that camera of my drone flying around at night with the IR LED lol.
Look up pvs-69. It’s very easy to hook one of these cameras to a small dc powered display. If you have a 3d printer you can print a housing and make a nvg unit. I have a couple test videos on my channel.

Dope camera, great addition for SAR. Also 7:12 is prob about the most awesome FPV i've seen yet with the mini reindeer up front!
Finished the build. Same frame, camera and flood. I have a tremendous amount of jello though, more when flying slow than when cruising with speed.
when the polar can't see you know it's REALLY dark

Can we use this camera with a dji air unit or a vista, or we only have to use it with the link from runcam?
the Runcam link and the air unit/Vista are the same unit. This cam will work with any of em 👌

This camera is only compatible with DJI gear unfortunately. Would love to see some similar low light cameras come out for walksnail

I'm using Goggles 2 with this setup and have OSD preset turned on in betaflight 👍
