    My sister in law rescued a mouse being sold as snake feed from Facebook market place and gave it to my daughter and I to keep and love. Never had a mouse before and have been doing lots of research. I found your video very helpful. Thank you so much for your channel.

    I have 1 male mouse that was bred as a feeder mouse for reptiles, my cousin was picking up snake food for me and when I saw him I just couldn't do it. He is now my little desk buddy, he does live alone but I interact with him every day. His cage is only 200 square inches right now but I do plan to upgrade him, and he does have 2 hide houses, a 6.5" wheel, chews, and a tube to run in around in. I have had him a month and a half now and he is such a sweetheart. 🤍 I know he may not live long because he was meant to be a feeder mouse but I want to give him a good life while I can 🤍

      @Xmas_Soph_Ofc🎄 lol there are thousands of feeder mice out there, a snake won't die because it missed a feeding anyway. Frozen mice are better to feed snakes and reptiles anyway

      @@burntbeansoup it should really become standard practice for breeders to keep their snakes on frozen because the new owners may have trouble finding live feeders, and they can be dangerous as well

      @@TeelDove777 I've got my girls from local breeders, mainly found through mouse chat groups. As for the sex, adult mice are pretty easy to tell apart (male mice have, umm, rather large balls) but when they're still young, you really need someone experienced to tell the difference.

    I can't remember if I've commented this on your videos before, but a neat little puzzle box you can make yourself is from cheese triangles boxes... cut out a couple of random size/shape holes and put the treats inside... the cardboard will mulch down after they've finished with the puzzle.

      @@lilyjones4289 Yeah my mom said she hated hamsters and when I got mine she fell in love. I’m positive the same thing will happen with mice but I haven’t found a way to convince her yet. I made a hole list, every thing I would need to buy were it was from and how much it cost. I then set a budget mine was 300$ for cage stuff, the cage, wheels and a water bottle. Then I put my 300$ in an envelope to prove u could pay for these mice on my own.
      I put an extra 50 to prove I could pay for bedding and food for a while. I’m not some overly spoiled kid this was my money from like three Christmas and birthdays and I rarely buy things for my self so that’s how I saved up this much.
      It also really helped because I had my mom on board so we just had to convince my dad.
      Hope this helps!

    This came at a perfect time! I might take in a senior boy for the last of his time here from a rescue soon and I have been researching again as much as possible! This helps refresh. I don’t believe he is neutered and at this point his age means it could be a risky procedure, so he will probably be kept alone. They also said he doesn’t really like people and prefers to be left some to his own devices, but I would probably try and socialize him enough to make health checks easier and maybe play pen time depending on how he feels about it.

    VERY useful, thank you! We have wild mice in our house and we had an exterminator come and seal all around the house so they wont come in anymore, but they also wanted an extra 300 to poison the ones inside. I wasn’t too keen on it, and decided this was the perfect opportunity to show our kid what it is to have a pet (I had always refused, by principle) without having to buy one from stores or breeders, and without capturing one from the wild. This way, we keep these alive and will release them in nature when spring comes (Canada is cold in the winter) andin the meantime, our kid can learn and enjoy a rare chance to have a pet, even though it is temporary. I also won’t feel bad releasing them in nature, as this is where they actually come from!! (Unlike pet store or breeder ones). Win-win !
    So thanks for your amazing tips and we’ll do our best to follow them. I don’t think we’ll have the chance to handle them though… they are very skittish, being truly wild ones. But that’s ok.

    I have had 6 mice, maggie & mable, peaches & patches, ottie &Oreo, Mabel had a respiratory problem and we took her to the vet (£174 later) I had to nebuliser her for 20 minutes 2 times a day. I’m now only left with ottie & Oreo but they have all lived until just under or over 2 years. It’s hard to get accurate care info from pet shops, your videos and mice forums really help I’ve learnt so much. I have a 50 x 50 x 100 vivarium cage and they love it. They even have an underground city in their bedding hahah. If you work from home like me I really recommend having them by you whilst you work they love to run around and play in their pen I have. ❤️😍

    Thank you for the video. I got very excited when you said you were going to include a list of mice-safe foods in the description (sadly it wasn't there). I would really appreciate a good source on this since it has been hard to determine what is safe for them. My mice didn't really like the regular carrots and broccoli options, so I have been looking for different foods to try.
    PS: they are lab rescues so maybe they are just not very used to fresh fruits and veggies.

    Soo I ended up with a house mouse because my dad set up a bunch of mouse traps since we found a mouse about a week ago. But anyways I was up late last night and heard a mouse squeaking super loud and so I ran out to my kitchen and saw him caught my his tail so I picked him up and put him in a tank I used to have a frog in until he passed and put some food and water in there for him and did a shit ton of research on what I should do for him and went to Walmart and spent my last bit of my paycheck on bedding for him and a little ball he can run around in. But he let's me pet him and even let me pick him up today. After I put in all the bedding and tons of little things he can play on and explore he looks so much happier. Oh and I forgot to mention his name is Pablo and is the dopest mouse I've ever met.
    Edit: Pablo died 11-25-22
    But me and my close friends had a funeral for him and buried him at 4:20. He was truly loved. ❤

My mice are feeder breeders however I am wanting to breed ethically so they are cared for in the same manner as pet mice with lots of space, deep bedding and things to hide inside of chew on and climb on as well as plenty of foraging. I know that people breeding feeders often supplement with cat food for added protein but I still want the healthiest base possible. I considered Mazuri but reading up on it found that multiple places stated it was not fully appropriate for mice.

    When I got my first mouse I was a little afraid of them. (long story why I ended up wanting them) when I went to the pet store and picked her out, the pet store worker tried to pick her up by her tail! Even though I didn't know much about them I knew this was bad, like obviously! It's a pet of their spine! So even though I never held a mouse before when I saw him reach for the tail I just scooped her up myself. Fell in love with her immediately. Haven't bonded much with her tank mate yet but she is super friendly. That's a great example of how some are handleable and some are not ya know?

    My mice are 2 sisters. I got them back in August. Bambi and bamboo are spottet fancy mice and live in Ikea's biggest bin. I think it's 80x50cm? They have 20 cm of bedding a 30 cm wheel, sprays and lots of different treats yet so far they like the mealworm the best. They eat half rat pellets and half mouse seed mix. They are both in the recommend fat, fiber and protein. I give lots of hanging houses and ropes but I find that they don't like hammocks so I remove them since the cage ain't that bit. Bambi and bamboo are my first mice, I still live with my parents so I cant do everything since I already have 3 other hamsters with big enclosures aswell.

Because my mice are comfy with my hand and they don't mind sitting on it and eating, but when i try to bring them out, they run. But i really want to give them time out of their cage, even if it's quite big

      @Emiology  2 роки тому +6

      It can be hard to bond in the cage because they have so many places to run and hide. If you can get them onto your hand or into a toilet roll tube and then out into a playpen it can really help to speed up handling because you have a smaller space to work with ☺️

    I own snakes and recently got a BP from a breeder who fed live, he wasn’t transferring to frozen thawed so after abt a month I had to purchase a live mouse for him. He refused to eat that as well lol so I was left with a pet mouse! Once I realized little dude was here to stay I ordered him so much stuff, and now aside from needing more mice for company I’m proud to say his living conditions are supreme and he is very loved lol😅

    I Recently inherited my brothers mice as he moved out. He had them living in squalor so I’ve got them a new tank and all the housing and such that they need but as I live on a small island it’s very hard to get all the essentials and I’m REALLY struggling with finding a balanced diet for them.
    They’re VERY big girls, he previously fed them a mix of treats in a bowl so they pigged it down and packed on the weight, I’ve got them a wheel that they use but if anyone’s reading this and has tips they’d be appreciated

    I've had mice for about a year, a pair females, and i was wondering if there are any things that i should be more careful about / any specic advice to introducing a third? i've been doing lots of research to make sure it goes well, but, input on my specific situation is always welcome if anyone has some to offer!
    they live in a 20 gallon tank, with usually 3-5 hides, and lots of paper tubes and a couple things to climb on. they have a niteangel wheel but i also have a saucer!
    one of them dislikes being handled and the other doesn't mind; i don't handle them as much as I'd like but them not being the biggest fans of me doesn't really ever cause issues.

    Hi! i have a question: i have had a lot of rats in the past few years. But now i'm looking at the animal shelter website and i came upon 4 male mice that need a home. I do not have as much time as i had when i still had rats, so do these animals need a lot of socialisation? and how long would you say they need playpin time?

    This probably such a stupid question but would it be possible to house mice in a C&C smaller measurement cage as big as a 50gallon tank ? The walls would be too slippery to climb and I’d add a dig box for them to burrow into.. I haven’t found anyone trying it out or would the amount of room scare it ? And would fleece & corflute if they found it affect their digestive tracts ?

    Hi! I have a question, you mentioned a dig box, and I have tried this twice with coco soil (not sure what it's called, it's originally for reptiles) and it went moldy after like two days both times. Is this normal? Is there a way to avoid this? Thanks!

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  2 роки тому

      Don’t make it too wet and make sure you’re turning the soil regularly, you can also add springtails for help with mould

      I mix a little sawdust through mine, helps to absorb the moisture and likewise the moisture of the soil minimises dust. 😊
