i find your videos so comforting. i think it's your voice? i'm a very tall girl (6ft) with a firm build and your videos help me embrace the more masc side of fashion that i used to avoid like the plague when i was younger. i was so scared that i wasn't feminine-looking enough and that people would find me strange. but now that i am older and have grown more comfortable in my skin, i've been buying more masculine fashion pieces and i've never felt more like myself. my legs were always an insecurity for me but i thought i just had to bite the bullet and push through on hot days, but then i watched your reel about pants suited for hot weather and became a summer-pant connoisseur. thank you for your videos!

Late to the party here, but your talking points really resonated with me regarding comfort and the self. I consider myself to be very much a fashion hobbyist, but as much as I enjoy cool outfits-they just are not true to my personality and the things I value. As someone who grew up in vastly different cultures for parts of my childhood, fitting in and showing my best self are what matter the most, which I realize now are why I dress the way I do. I stick to basics that are timeless and fit into most situations, but I will drop $$$ on basic clothes that feel and look great although not exactly unique or eye catching.

I think about fashion all of the time. I bounce between comfort and trying to incorporate high fashion brands into my wardrobe. Sometimes I feel like what's the point - 5 days a week I have to wear my work clothes, but every now and again inspiration strikes.

I’ve let go trying to have a “personal style”, and have been dressing a lot more for what works with my lifestyle. It’s often pants/shorts, a midi skirt and an oversized graphic top and some sneakers. It’s comfortable and makes me happy. I really enjoy your content. It makes me feel okay with the way I choose to dress

thank youuuuu. i love watching your videos!! this one in particular is really validating and touching to me-- especially the idea of there being an "innate self expression to comfort." as a nonbinary person, dressing to communicate something to others can sometimes be super complicated and make getting dressed way too hard. i have had to stop worrying about expressing myself using the fashion language around me and more on just BEING. the only thing i am saying with my clothes these days is "i love you" to myself and that feels SO good!! i love the idea that just doing what works for me and is comfortable is inherently self-expressing.
Amy Smilovic has a 3 word method where all are more based in motivation/feeling than like a single goal word for feeling/aspiration/reality. I find that’s easier to identify with and the words transcend seasons and years for me, like they can retroactively work for past iterations of my closet pre-3 word attempts.

I discovered two random preferences that I have for clothing recently. If I wear open toed shoes, I don't like ones that expose my pinky toe. If they do I tend to stop reaching for them as much. I also don't particularly like having a lot of my upper back exposed in clothing because I find it annoying to get sunscreen on those hard to reach areas of my back.

As I’ve been on my own journey of discovering what I feel comfortable in wearing I’ve seen a lot of content surrounding the topic of personal style and not to throw shade but some ppl who claimed to have found their personal style look like clones running around.. why is that? Because they wanna fit in. Perfectly justifiable. I find myself in the same boat at times but I feel a bit like a fraud. One thing I find to really help with this is weighing in conditions. Is it practical? Itchy? Durable? does it look good on me and not just on the model or influencer? I also know a lot of people find inspo on Pinterest and something that really changed the game for me is listing all the common pieces on my board instead of photo copying outfits. It helps you consume pieces you actually enjoy and does fuel my individually complex adequately 😅
loved the video! the final fairy garden look reminds me so much of how south asians wear a dupatta. we prefer comfort in our clothing as well, given how hot it gets in india, pakistan and surrounding countries. maybe you could look into styles and fashion here and get inspired too :)
I don't think functionality is a horrible motivation. Far from it! Taking your wardrobe as an example, you only own pieces that you know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. Your style is far from simply functional. It's understated and others might not appreciate the details or fit (I am talking about Japanese fashion), but that doesn't really matter. Comfort is also important to me. To me, it's a given, so I personally feel offended if someone tries to compliment me with "that looks comfortable." That's such a sh*t compliment. If it's not comfortable, I'm not wearing it, so you're basically saying "You're not naked!" Just say I look good.
interesting that you mentioned kibbe because i find that you tend to dress in the lines that he would recommend for your build. According to his framework, you lean heavily into your "yang" side I think his framework has merit as a launching point- it's good at introducing people to certain design concepts like lines, visual weight, etc. Things that stylish people tend to consider anyways when choosing clothes. It might answer questions like why certain things look cohesive on certain bodies, why certain things look disjointed. But to make your style personal... I def think you have to explore beyond the framework.
