Just got a rubik's cube last week and been following the 'How to Solve a Rubik's Cube | WIRED' on UA-cam, averaging 3-4mins at the moment 😅. I've been looking around for a more advanced CFOP method to help improve times. A lot of videos on CFOP are hard to get but your video is well explained and easy to follow, thanks for making it 👍
Edited 11/01/2021 I picked up the cube one month ago on the 12th of December and today I reached my goal of getting under 1 minute thanks to videos such as yours. I completed the Rubik's cube in 59:641 seconds.
Some things I changed from beginners method are, I'm now doing the cross on white with the white side facing down. I'm also doing F2L beginner's method which is still a bit tricky and a few seconds slower than when I was doing beginners layer by layer for first 2 layers but your video on this helped a lot. I'm learning more 2-Look OLL algorithms, the WIRED video just had 2 for OLL. I've also added the H and Z perms from this video -M slices to the 2 PLL U perm algs from WIRED's video. I'll be switching these 2 out in the future to the R moves you have here. I'm practising around 30 to 40mins a day roughly while watching videos to keep me progressing. The scramble for my sub 1 minute is below if anyone is interested.
    U2, F, L2, U2, L', D, L, F2, R, L2, F', R2, L2, F2, D2, L2, U', B2, F2, R2, U'
My new goal is to be sub 1 minute average, I'm around 1:35 min average so I've a long way to go but with the help of this channel and other YouTubing cuber channels I'm sure I can reach my new goal one day. Hopefully this will motivate others out there, cheers for the great videos Chris 👍 😀.
Edited: Update for anyone interested: 07/02/2021 - Reached my goal of sub 1 minute, (55.13) average of last 12 solves with a personal best of 46.74. Helped by learning full PLL, turning a bit faster... PLL is still taking a bit longer to recognise and execute atm so hope to knock a few more seconds off over time.

Edited: 19/06/2021 - Ok..... Quick update, now averaging comfortably sub 40 seconds with personal record of 24.45 seconds. Started learning full OLL and got around halve way through them but then had to stop due to other commitments so forgot the ones I had learned and staying with 2-look OLL for now. Hope to break the world record this year, the one set back in 1982 :).

It took me a week to get to 37 seconds I recommend also watching J perm he is very good his sub average on the cube is somehow under 10 seconds but is a VERY GOOD cubing teacher

@@Huskyboi-zk2ei Thanks. Been watching J Perm and several others since starting. I started to learn full OLL but stopped half way through because of going back to work after furlough and other commitments etc.., forgot most of them.
I'm now averaging 32 seconds with personal best of 20 seconds. I just need to put in more practising, learn more efficient f2l cases, plan cross to 1st f2l pair etc... I could probably knock another few seconds off my average if I put in the time. At the moment I can only work out cross halve the time during inspection so need to start working on that I think.

Another quick update as of 19/04/2023. I am now averaging 24.5 seconds with a PB of 13.9 seconds. I learned full OLL. I also had my first WCA comp a few months ago where I managed to get a sub 30 average.

Thanks! This is a great explanation!
But I think you neglected to mention explicitly that for the U-perms it is necessary to hold the completed edge in the back.

Your M and M' are turned in the same direction. M is a middle turn facing the cube from top to bottom while M' is a middle turn facing the cube from bottom and up. I just want to clarify.

lol during my journey to solve the cube I made a list of all the important OLL and PLL. I became also same result PLL H and Z and U-perm But extra I ;ve written down several more/ PLL Y, T and V plus Ra, Rb Ja and Jb perm. For the OLL first I learned was nr 23 and 24 (You showed in this video the opposite of 23 and 24) Further 44, 31; 33 and 45 (Tperm) and the Fish 35 and 37. If you mastered those OLL and PLL you can solve a lot of scrambled cubes without looking on your paperwork during the solving. I know b heart OLL 23 and PLL H and Z So lot to learn. Good luck with making more videos Laterrrrr

    Thanks for the great videos.
I am fairly new to cube solving so forgive me if my question is silly but I ve noticed that while you were doing the z perm, you turned the M' clockwise (if seen it from the right side).
So I ve tried solving it turning the M the opposite way and it work regardless . So either M' or M will do just the same. I don't understand why. I am puzzled.

it's amazing how strongly right-handed are most algorithms! Ub for example, is Ua backwards in order to use your right hand only just like you did with Ua. Shocking! (I'm right-handed by the way, just saying what I see...)

    • @CanChrisSolve

Yeah, for some reason 2 gen (2 layer) algs are so popular, particularly with R and U. I suppose it's just really fast to execute them!

@@CanChrisSolve No worries bro. Ive mentioned it b4 but im sure u dont remember me. I started cubing watching ur videos. I was a bit discouraged when u didnt finish the series. I was just forced to learn from others , but thats ok. Its been years and im far beyond 2look at this point. So...no, although a good vid, i didnt learn anything this time. However ur videos did help me alot when i first started, and im glad ur still making them. So thanks again! Keep it up! P.S. An idea for a video? I know u like doing odd puzzles and such, so check my thumbnail. Cube in a bottle video? Mine is a magnetic budget cube in a Crystal Head vodka bottle. It was a challenge and id like to see some1 else do it. Who better than you! Happy cubing

P.S. I love that idea for a video (although I think it would be really hard)! Where did you get your... jar?

@@CanChrisSolve Its literaly called Crystal Head vodka. You should b able to get one in any liquor store. Fun fact.. Crystal Head vodka was created by Dan Aykroyd, a Canadian actor. Im sure u know who he is. And yes it was hard to do but the satisfaction is great. Magnatizing it helped alot.
