The Foggy Dew (Bagpipes) - The Snake Charmer
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 лют 2022
- The Foggy Dew is a popular Irish rebel song which was the product of world war 1. I feel Bagpipes resonate the rebel passion and hence i made a Bagpipe version of Foggy Dew . There have been many popular versions of Foggy dew including Sinead O Connor and Cheiftains which were made many years ago and i hope to revive it with my Bagpipe version of this song. I hope you enjoy this video as you read the meaningful lyrics of foggy dew and what the song is about.

It Is truly human song.all as one
We're all one people.human!united education we should all be
United not educated sorry@
Thank you very for this great rendition of the foggy Dew, its one of the best.
We would await your trip to Ireland the home of the bag pipes.
Archy Jay is in fact "originally" a singer. She still is, obviously. She she is, as far as I know, the ONLY female bagpipe player in India, and is basically self-taught. She is one hell of a woman.
I am of Celtic heritage and I am very familiar with this song. This touched my heart and I have a tear. 🙏🏼👏
Of Celtic heritage, ah, so you're n.American.
@@windmacher This is a ballad, oh well.
@@windmacher - Go away Troll.
As a Scots Irish American navy man that's was the most touching and heartfelt song I've had the honor of listening to thank you SNAKE CHARMER I have a new song for my fellow sailers and I have a favorite for sure thank u so much ma'am
listen to Sinead o Connors version mate
@@celticoverall Scots Irish? Traditionally known for liking rebel tunes. Bless.
Uhmn, the "Scots Irish" were a part of "Britania's Huns" referred to in this song
It's a good cover but the description is a bit simplistic. The song isn't about WW1, it's about the 1916 rising in Ireland and how the rebels fought for freedom as opposed to for the British army in WW1. The rising and subsequent executions inspired the push for freedom.
Thanks for this explanation.
1916 Irish revolution
Had a impact on our Indian history as well
Indian "Home rule movement" was inspired from 1916 Irish revolution
@@roxforlife007 Yep! The Indian Home Rule League even lifted their name from the Irish Home Rule League!
Not about WW1? The rebellion put us firmly on the side of "our gallant allies in Europe" and staked our claim to independence in the post WW1 shake-up of empires.
Ukraine made its move at the end of WW1 but has suffered a "ground hog day" on the threshold of independence ever since. But whatever happens, Ukraine has many "rebel songs" which I'm sure the Snake Charmer could adapt for pipes and her beautiful voice.
@@ciarandoyle4349 Yes it's not about WW1. It is about the rising, plain and simple. While the rising was essentially facilitated by the English involvement in WW1 and the 1916 leaders were looking to have a german style of independence it's still a separate part of history. The song even pokes a bit at people who went to fight in WW1 and not fight for freedom. "Twas better to die 'neath that Irish sky. Than at Sulva or Sud-El-Bar", which is the only mention of WW1 in it.
You did a marvelous job with an old classic i have loved for years. Thank you for honoring the culture of the people of Ireland. We all roam the earth in cycles and waves and much in your culture is beautiful as well. Your gifts are beautiful thanks for sharing them. You have some dang mean skills as a piper and your voice is lovely as well.
This gave me chills, and reading the description, I found the bagpipes doubly fitting since they were outlawed in Ireland for some time.
Oh my God!! It doesn't get any better than this. A beautiful woman with a lovely, powerful voice and a piper all in one! WOW As a disabled veteran I so appreciate your tribute to all who have served and especially those who gave all for freedom. Thank you so much!!
Excellent comment mate!
This particular track is the first time I heard the Snake Charmer sing, she has such a simple, fantastic and glorious voice and then when she gets the bagpipe out with absolute precision, attitude and wonder, Oh man she is so beautiful, I shed tears down my cheek honest more than once but now I am okay.
She 'Heralded' it in my friend, that is War on a Global scale according to the Prophecies in Old & New Testament what else, but she is just an instrument or a singer but that's what they do because it had to be done! It is a warning for preparedness, aversion and victory basically !
Every thing is gonna be OK, I promise! 💪👁️
I love this talented lady. A great musician and a great singer, plus she does remarkable productions. Is there no end to her talents? Great tribute to the Irish Easter Uprising 1916.
One of the best versions of this song I have heard .. absolutely amazing ❤️
I've been a fan of yours for a few years now, I love bagpipes, and I love your music. I did not know you can sing. This song is probably THE most soulful, most bad ass song ever. Sinéad O'Connor and The Chieftains brought this song into the mainstream. Thank you for keeping it real, and alive! And thank you for adding the lyrics through your bagpipe playing.
It is amazing how an girl from India 🇮🇳 has the best version of this song yet. Love and greetings from Mexico.
Greetings from Scotland! You were created to be a Celtic singer and Bagpiper Archy! That was gorgeous young lady! Beautiful singing, beautiful piping and a great backdrop to film it all in! Thank you Archy! I have to tell people about this right now!
Thank you Peter🥰🥰
@@TheSnakeCharmer :))
This is now my second favorite version of this song (sorry Sinead still my favorite). The war was not WW1 but the Irish 'Easter Uprising' of 1916. The 'Long Range Guns' were the English naval guns that shelled the Four Courts and destroyed much of the history of Ireland that was documented in that building.
Important context. Thank you 🙏🏽.
*Éire go Brách* 🔥🇮🇪🤜🏽🤛
It was the General Post Office building that was destroyed in the Easter Rising. The Four Courts were destroyed at the beginning of the Irish Civil War (and the guns were on loan to the pro-Anglo-Irish Treaty faction of the IRA)
@@robertnewell4054 Erin go bragh indeed!
you are changing history. The fire in the Four Courts started in 1922 not 1916 and certainly not started by Royal Navy guns. It started during the Irish Civil war in the Battle of Dublin nothing to do with Britain or the Royal Navy
@@celticguy197531
W.Churchill offered a loan of British artillery for use by the National Army : a hell of a man of peace ! One more time in 39.
“Aaj” by Bloodywood brought me here. This is such a captivating song and another rabbit hole to explore. Thank you for uploading.
My word, a voice of the the forgotten and a angel at the same time. Your voice is next level.
As a proud Irish man.. I must say well done.. Just to say tho. This song was about the Easter rising 1916 in ireland against the British establishment s claim to Ireland..
Your performance does not disappoint. Piping and singing are amazing!
thank you!!
I had never come across this before, was touched to tears to my delight !!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
TheSnakeCharmer this is the first time I've ever heard you sing and you have an incredible voice, love your bagpipes 😊👌🎶🎵
Looking forward to hearing this, for sure. It's ne of the most evocative and emotional rebel songs we have in Ireland, and we do have more than a few..
Thats true!
Love it thank you for uploading it
@@TheSnakeCharmer The Wolfe Tones have a great song about joining the British army, with a great line.....Love many, trust a few....and always paddle yer own canoe...very similar to William Shakespeare entreating us to...Never a lender or Borrower be.....peace and love from the wirral...E
@snipe69 British football chants started way back in Napoleonic days when Wellington, s troops taunted the French at Waterloo ...the film Waterloo briefly references this with a line from ...Boney was a warrior, John Francois....even though the actual song was written years later
Love that Rebel Irish spirit! Irish-Scots here.
You gave me goosebumps with your first line singing, and just about when they'd subsided, your piping brought them back! Slàntie! You have earned an honorary "O' " in front of your surname, so all will know you connect with the spirit of Ireland and her music.
You go girl, i still said you have a voice of an angle. You can do any song and it will be amazing. Thank you for all your hard work to entertain us. We love you for it, Keep it up
Further comment. You have presented a magnificent version of this quintessential Irish Rebel Song. That it is presented by an extraordinarily talented Punjabi woman is simply amazing and illustrates the hope and the need for us to enjoy each other in peace and music. Thank you.
This is amazing and I have listened to it multiple times already. I just wanted to point out that The Foggy Dew is specifically about the Easter Rising of 1916, when the Irish rebels fought against British rule (and being conscripted to fight for Britain in WW1).
Gave me goosebumps hearing you sing. You have a great voice and magical fingers. I love what you do, never stop Celtic Sister.
The languages of northern india and the celtic languages are related with both being of indo-european origins. Both Ireland and India were seized by the british crown. Ireland was perhaps britain's first colony and just about it last. The Irish were as badly treated if not worst as were those of any other British colonies of the Americas, Asia or Africa. The Easter rebellion marked the beginning of the 20th century revolts against british colonialism. Huge numbers died of a British caused famine that force the Irish to migrate throughout the world.
The talent AND beauty in this makes my day over and over!!!!
Oh I love this beautiful voice all the way from South Africa. Love all your music thank you.
A truly wonderful rendition of Ireland’s favorite folk song!
I am of Irish/Scottish descent, my family still carries an Irish Coat of Arms. This stirs the blood and awakens the Celtic warrior spirit within… thank you for this!
This is a wonderful cover of a great song about the Easter Rebelion of 1916, a credit to you, well done.
Bloodywood brought me here and man I am blown away by her sheer talent! Amazing!!
This song, my fair lady was the best you’ve ever have done. Your voice is better than ever and you’ve brought so much joy to my heart. Have you ever been so happy with a song that it made you cry. ❤️😍❤️

As a schoolboy in the late 60s, my brother and I worked for a an elderly neighbour, Richard Humphries. He had fought in the General Post Office in Dublin during the 1916 rising. His uncle, The O'Rahilly was machine-gunned and fatally injured during an attempted retreat. Two noble and humble gentlemen. Air Dheis De go rabh a hAnam Dilis.
Does anyone else think she would destroy any talent show anywhere if she entered. Amazingly beautiful and talented. Love her. If I ever have a chance to see her and meet her I'm gone! Totally awesome.
