It can cast Henry Cavill in it and it will be only slightly less shit. In fact if there is any IP that want to cast a non-white female character, this original IP is just as good as it can be. Otherwise it will just mean we feel there should never be a non white female character at all. Then we are no different from the wokies, just the direct opposite.
@@hedition9346 correct, I am not blaming her, I am referencing the decision to pick the same actress from this incident implies a similar intent to push a certain agenda. She is associated with it, even if unintentionally.
I actually tried a demo of this game at PAX West. No wait to try it, which already says something. It was really convoluted to play, the tutorial was nearly nonexistent. Nothing really made sense or was intuitive while playing. Kind of makes sense that it turned out like this.
At 09:00, it's not a timeline; everything there has already been released, which is kind of even worse since the shared world of these entries seems not to have helped out the game at all. So it's not just a game that has flopped; the entire shared world has flopped, for example, with the two released books combined only having around 200 reviews on Amazon while the comic book's first volume only has a single review.
Funny enough, I've bought myself a new PC and this was one of the games that came as a bundle because of the build choice. I've not heard of this game nor paid much thought to it, the only game I cared for in the bundle is Space Marine 2, so it's just interesting to know what the current state of this game is.
It is worth noting that most of Steam reviews come from people who received the game for free by purchasing an AMD product. So the acual sales must even be lower than expected.
I didn't even know Sweet Baby Inc. were still involved with games? All the main actress could say about it was it was the most diverse/inclusive game she's ever seen. Not the best selling point.
Video game companies are starting to do the same mistakes that TV shows make which is not advertise their product in anyway and the only time people are even aware of its existence is when it's getting canceled or poor sales figures. I had no idea this game existed until it was flopping.
This is the daily reminder that indie gaming, AAA gaming, nor of course AAA gaming, are immune to bad games None if these are "the best" or "better" they all have shortcomings

The game didn't fail because of bad marketing. It failed because the trailers alone revealed right out of the gate that it's a sub-par game so no one ever got excited about it and told their friends about it. From the get go it just looked like a Forspoken from Temu 😂
I see people toss around the insult "looks like a [insert old console] game" too often. But my god if this doesnt look like something straight out of 2003. Even if it was released over 20 years ago, it would still do nothing to pardon the dullness and overwhelming mediocrity of this title. To think this is a 2024 release, and SOMEONE thought they had a golden goose on their hands in the form of a new multimedia hit is just freaking insane.
Kim Belair and her DEI mindset killed this game. Yong never mentions any of these details in his videos. It’s a major player in why this game flopped. Just like concord and dustborn. SBI and DEI are killing games and Yong just pretends like it’s not a factor.
@@ManOutofTime913also some worse. I got a free code for the game with my CPU and played it. I've played some worse games from the 360 online store. Is the game good though? Eh not really I'd only suggest it if you're really *desperate* for some uncharted like gameplay.
I agree that AA needs to come back. However, let’s not ignore that there have been AA games that have released over the last 5 years but most of them have failed. The problem is promotion. If you’re a AA Studio releasing AA games, you still need to invest millions in promoting a game. Imo, the big problem is, there has been a lot of Mid games under the AA banner and a lot of gamers are not willing to spend $40-$70 for a game because of the world we live in right now, and because FTP has become a prominent thing in this industry.
If a game released under an 80 Metacritic score, the game is destined to fail nowadays. The average gamer pays attention to these reviews and will vote with their wallets. You can have a game that launches at a 90 Metacritic score, and that will entice people to check it out. But because players are so worried about paying money for a game that underwhelmed them, they are going to express their voice. I haven’t checked out this game, and I’m not willing to because of the price of it, but like I said, promotion is a BIG factor, especially in this day and age.
What...? No mention of the fact that Kim Belair from SBI wrote the narrative? People are sick of identity politics in games. That's reason enough to avoid this game.
I really don't know into which channels all the marketing money went. I basically can't remember seeing any advertising for the games that were unsuccessful this year. I may remember some of them were mentioned once during a stream together with dozens of other games.
So you're gonna talk about this game but not about SBI/Sweet Baby Inc that's a HUGE part of it? Why? Did they ask you not to mention them? Even with Concord you seemed to skirt around some of those types of topics.
Because Yong Yea is a compromised channel. He never once mentioned these issues. He never will, otherwise he doesn't get the goodies developers send him.
Sweet Baby Inc doesn’t have the power you think it has and these decisions come from the top down to them they write what they are told and paid to write.
While SBI and DEI is a turn off for some people, I think it's a reason for this game's flop, not THE reason. There's just too much releasing this month from already popular ips, and this barely got advertised. And it kinda looks bad when bamco releases two games this month with one selling over 3 million copies (db sparking zero) and one selling 300 copies (unknown 9).
I remember George Luccas saying in an interview that he envied soviet cinema, because they had the freedom to do whatever they wanted instead of "creating profitable movies" (I don't remember the exact words, but is an easy to find interview on youtube). I guess the gaming industry goes down the same route. People need to appease investors, create games they think would sell, instead of trying stuff they believe in or that they know will appeal just for a small portion of players but that will be amazing for this tiny group. TLDR: Capitalism will always fail in every single way, because its looking for profit no matter the cost. These studios aren't trying to make good games, but profitable products. Maybe one day we will finally get over this production model and reach a socialist/communist society, and then the good games will be made again. NO microtransactions, no investors, just good old games made by people who want to create something special... And the best part, it will be accessible to everyone who wants it.
You should research just a little more about this game to know how bad it was. Sweet baby inc involved already red flag to gamer, this game is also giveaway from buying AMD products so realistically the sale is much much lower than you think.
While listening to the news about this failure of a game - i bought the game called "Utopia Must Die". If you are into genre like this - i cannot recommend the title enough.
This is why you DO NOT hire DEI consultants (Sweet Baby Inc) and unprofessional game devs to make ANY type of game. Regardless of whether it's AA or AAA.
Sweet Baby Inc doesn’t have the power you think it has and these decisions come from the top down to them they write what they are told and paid to write.
This is why you don't hire consultants of any variety. I don't care who they are or what they're pushing. They don't know shit, and your product is going to be worse.
Sweet Baby Inc doesn’t have the power you think it has and these decisions come from the top down to them they write what they are told and paid to write.
Yong my man I like your channel and analysis but you always avoid the elephant in the room which is that this is a sweet baby inc product and reek of forced dei lecturing. No doubt all your points are valid but please mention the obvious reason as well. For me and a lot of my friends and community when we hear about sweet baby inc we just avoid like plaque. I’m not sure if you are purposely avoiding controversy topic to be safe but please this is hurting your analysis and make your content vanilla and feel abit disingenuous.
I'd love to see AA games make a comeback, but this is definitely one example on how not to do that on both the dev and publisher side of things.

But I'm not surprised that Yong is late to the party; I've been getting all the latest gaming news from a bunch of other UA-camrs for a while now, but I still watch Yong for nostalgia's sake.
You not said the 3 little words and the reason the game failed. So this was the last time i saw one of ur videos. You are one of Them..

He's a coward. He never mentions that side of things for ANY of the games that have failed because of it.
It’s very sad that the game’s title perfectly describes mostly everyone’s knowledge of the game itself.
The stench of Sweet Baby is strong with this one… Yongy why are you so afraid to address the elephant in the room?!
He's trying to tow that line of being a "good guy", and they can't mention anything to do with sweet baby, or DEI stuff. It will make them look like they're on the "wrong side". Can't have that.

Words do have power ... so do not name the game/book/whatever after some strange phrase that has meaning of being hidden/unknown/unremarkable/below average!
Remember Me was actually a decent game. I got it on a Steam Sale, wouldn't have paid full price for sure, but it was great. The combat needed a little more polish that could've been done in a sequel.
The problem is, just like with Remember Me, you have activist developers who put identity first. Dontnod complained they received pushback because their protag was female, which is a lie because people like Tomb Raider and Metroid
@@St4rTr3v1Ut10n Yep. The only reason I remember Remember Me is that it was the first game I saw where the marketing was fixated exclusively on the fact they had a female protagonist and that was all the media was talking about. Then it flopped, and nobody ever spoke of it again. It's such a commonplace thing nowadays but it wasn't back then, so it stuck in my head.
In the end I guess I've done what the game wanted. I remember it. One of the few who do lol.
Remember Me is actually a good game. Played it last year
Remember me is alot of fun. Took me back to PS2 beat em ups, wish we had more
The audacity to think that Sweet Baby can create anything, let alone comic books, shows and more. The audacity! 🤣
You completely avoided the fact that the game and creator's youtube channel got a lot of hate, because Sweet Baby inc worked on this game.
Almost every video on the official channel is downvoted to oblivion and every comment calls for a boycott because of SBI.
Of course he's not going to mention that. He's part of the industry.
Well, dont work with em, simple solution
He's part of the "good guys" now that he's getting roles with voice acting. Can't risk them ruining his career I guess. Idk.

Sadly I’ve noticed this too
Isn't it the publisher's job to promote and advertise the games they publish? It's in their best interest to make sure a game sells. Without that support, they're just investors.
The game actually looks kinda neat, honestly.
To ignore the two big elephants in the room being Sweet Baby and character looks boring is truly is something. I noticed you didn’t made a video of DustBorn when it came out right? These types of stuff speaks volumes
At this point I’m starting to think Sweet Baby are the ones getting him work
It's because his cares more about his VA career than making videos now. So he went the way of the game journalists.
DEI. Enough said. The rest of redundant, especially if you are not going to mention the elephant in the room.
Maybe they shouldn't make a game with SBI and people whose main goal is to promote their agenda?
DEI was the problem. Everyone is aware now about those games.

I am not sure on this, but didn't The Witcher series get a bad rep with fans of the Witcher Franchise in the end? Like they altered the story or something from the games and books and people started ditching the show? Didn’t know this game existed until videos of it flopping came out
I actually tried a demo of this game at PAX West.
Dragon Age 4 is next
Is this game launching poorly our fault too?
Video game companies are starting to do the same mistakes that TV shows make which is not advertise their product in anyway and the only time people are even aware of its existence is when it's getting canceled or poor sales figures. I had no idea this game existed until it was flopping.

Along with a lack of polish, the first thing I knew that this game even existed, was when it was getting poor reviews
I see people toss around the insult "looks like a [insert old console] game" too often. But my god if this doesnt look like something straight out of 2003.
With a name like that, I'm not surprised.
What...? No mention of the fact that Kim Belair from SBI wrote the narrative? People are sick of identity politics in games. That's reason enough to avoid this game.
I don't think people even know about the existence of this game, let alone whoever's involved.

'the more powerful the attacks on your victims becomes.' uhm... what? victims? are you playing the villain?
While SBI and DEI is a turn off for some people, I think it's a reason for this game's flop, not THE reason. There's just too much releasing this month from already popular ips, and this barely got advertised. And it kinda looks bad when bamco releases two games this month with one selling over 3 million copies (db sparking zero) and one selling 300 copies (unknown 9).
Shh, dont bring actual logic into things, they wont listen or care
@@OlEgSaS32 agreed so many in the comment section just want it to be about the culture war ignoring other factors entirely.
