Legendaries have never been important aside from the story ones and shiny hunting. Most people stop playing the game when they finish the story and end game content so there's no real point in having that many legendaries in the game.
Honestly slow start is a really cool ability in concept, I just wish it worked differently. Something like this: Regi starts off the battle with -2 or -3 speed and atk (not affected by neutralizing gas) but then just like speed boost it gives you a +1 in speed and attack every turn. Completely underwhelming in the early turns and would still have counters but if you can survive with it for a few turns running mind games you could get a really hard hitter. That's what they were trying to do with attacks like fury cutter and rollout but regi could actually pull them off and punish stall teams

@Sundae the Espeon The ability allows the user to run away from the battle, not switch out. I might be stupid, but I don't think that would work for switch training. My only knowledge of Run Away is using it on an eevee once so chances are I'm wrong tho.

Hidden ability too. Meaning a lazy and is harder to find. I liked to think that Durant didnt quite forget the anthill mentality so sometimes in battle it'll start looking for food for the queen.
The thing about slow start is, that it actually could've been good. Instead of hindering Regigigas for five turns, it could've instead boosted all of its stats at the end of each turn, making it so that it slowly gets more powerful throughout the battle as it wakes up. That would have been awesome.

@Arpan Saha how so? what gain would a Pokemon with 120 special attack have with Hustle when it has a 50 base physical attack? Especially considering its other basic ability, Serene Grace, is so good. Serene Grace + Air Slash makes for incredible cheese potential.
As i always say, Run Away should have the effect in battle that the user can switch whatever happens (in other words, Run Away Pokemon would be immune to trapping like Ghost types does)which actually would be pretty decent instead of being completely useless. Also Illuminate should boosts Electric type attacks cause well it uses light.
I think illuminate should be a quick claw where it activates sometimes in double battles and draws fire, could be neat. Also honey gather could lower the enemies evasion, like a permanent sweet scent
Some changes I would make to two of the last three abilities that I am surprised they haven't made; Run Away - Now let's you switch out for free. Regardless of Arena Trap, Shadow Tag, Wrapping moves, etc. This would make it ACTUALLY usable in battles. Illuminate - Now acts like Intimidate but with Accuracy. This will be annoying and likely not used competitively but I think that would be so fun! Also, I feel it should be like Flash without having to use Flash. I suppose.
that Illuminate would actually be pretty strong in my opinion, especially with moves like U Turn and Volt Switch. It's probably way better in double battles though. If a pokemon gets hit by that twice, or the Illuminate user uses a move like flash or double team, it could be hard to beat. I guess moves like Aerial Ace and Shock Wave exist, so it's not unbeatable. Intimidate can already force a physical attacker to switch after 1 or 2 applications. Also, it'd be nice if it passively illuminated caves like you said.
@@CatsLeMatts Maybe make more unmissing moves, or add moves that help raise accuracy as well to balance this. Focus Energy, Focus Punch, and a few can do that. Also abilities like Inner Focus and Oblivious can avoid this reduction. Just thinking out loud on the internet I suppose. 🤔😅

I would wonder if at one point Slow Start was supposed to then double your attack when the counter was up. I can't imagine a situation where anyone would think a normal type with middle of the road legendary stats and a weak move pool would be usable with such an awful ability.
"Middle of the road legendary stats" That would be like 600, not 670. 670 is like the upper echelon of legendary stats. Still, having a 160 base physical attack Pokémon with a type that hits absolutely nothing for STAB S.E. damage be nerfed is just plain silly.

Like Ledian for example Iron Fist can be beneficial when combined with Life Orb. The only draw back is you have to heal Ledian every few turns. There's also Metronome. I think illuminate has a simple "fix". Keep what it already does (because some people can find a use for it) but also add the effect of lowering the opponents accuracy. I have a burning passion against slow start in particular though, it singlehandedly turned a really cool legendary into the laughing stock of battles.
For ledian, litleo and cherrim: sleeper stats. Opponents expect your phy attack to not be good until you start setting up. Obviously having to set up is still a pain
As much as you say that Flower Gift is poopy, I want to believe that there is some crazy Competitive trainer that managed to reach a top cut or win a regional using a super combo of Groudon and Cherrium (Groudon can summon sun and benefits the most from gaining more Attack and Special Defense).
Plus/Minus also let you benefit from Magnetic Flux and Gear Up in doubles (+1 to both defenses and +1 to both attacks respectively). Being able to Cosmic Power and/or Work Up both Pokemon on your side of the field on top of the Plus/Minus synergy can get real crazy, especially with Role Play and Entrainment opening up your partner options tremendously (I've seen somebody run a doubles strat with Mega Charizard Y getting Plus from a Plusle, and then throwing around Plus boosted, sun-boosted, Helping Hand boosted STAB Heat Wave, an effective 500 base power attack that hits both opponents, after only a single turn of setup). Being primarily useful in the doubles format =/= useless. Using Damp to prevent Explosion can be useful over immunity-ing the hit and letting them faint, because if you trap something that you otherwise wall completely, they can't Explosion out of desperation just to get out of the unwinnable matchup and prevent you from setting up a sweep. They get to just sit there and watch you pile on whatever ridiculous setups you want. Same if you trap something that wants to set up for its team (hazards, screens, trick room, etc.) and blow up to get off the field. It's like the move Grudge: it's worse than Destiny Bond on paper, until you find an extremely specific setup that can buy you truckloads of momentum to totally clean somebody out. Like if you have a Rock/Ground opponent and you can Grudge away its Rock option, it stops being a threat to Flying types and could become setup fodder, and that free time could give you enough room to click the "gg" button. Very specific =/= useless. And Moxie Pyroar is covering up a weakness, not doubling down on a strength like other Moxie users. Like how Rotom Heat is using Levitate to cover up a double weakness, while Carnivine is using Levitate to cover up a resistance. See, if you pick something off with Pyroar, even if the KO comes from a special attack, then both of its attacks are roughly even, and it becomes much harder to just plop a Blissey in front of it and laugh in Pyroar's face, something that non-Moxie Pyroar is much, MUCH more vulnerable to. Especially when you have Moxie and Wild Charge to threaten Water types that would otherwise wall you completely. And if you can score a second knockout, Pyroar hits HARDER on the physical side than it does on the special side. Flower Gift is good on Cherrim for basically all of these reasons. It boosts physical attack because THAT ONE is the one that Cherrim needs boosted, so it's not totally helpless against special walls, AND juicing up your partner in doubles shouldn't be totally counted out, especially if Cherrim has Helping Hand. Flower Gift + Helping Hand hits harder than Pure Power, and that's not counting the boost to fire moves from the sun, AND Flower Gift is also basically a free Light Screen. It's very specific, but can be absurdly powerful in that specific context. Sorry for the giant wall of text; I'm a bit of a Pokemon scientist, so these are the things that jump out at me. Most of the rest of the video is reasonably on point. Even with Swords Dance, Iron Fist Ledian is a joke. Slow Start takes entirely too long to get going when Regigigas ALSO loses access to Rest and Protect, so it can't stall for time AND needs to switch out to Heal Bell away Toxic because it CAN'T get its act together otherwise (with Protect and Rest, it would probably be "okay". Not "great", just "okay"). Levitate on Fan Rotom is just there for consistency, so it ends up being redundant. And Illuminate having NO effect in PvP is just stupid.
@@sudeeppednekar8355 Klutz is beautiful if you're clever. You can use Entrainment to turn off their item and ability with one move, Trick them a Choice item at your leisure instead of being forced to do it turn one (which also means you're immune to being tricked a choice item), you can Trick an Assault Vest to permanently Taunt somebody (something basically impossible to do otherwise), you can outspeed somebody to Trick them a Lagging Tail or Iron Ball, and so on. You can really ruin somebody's day if you hit the right target. 99% of people using Blissey would hate to end up with an Assault Vest, because most people run it with Toxic, Protect, and Softboiled. Nobody wants to run Blissey with Seismic Toss and nothing else. Lagging Tail makes you go last even in Trick Room, so you can even screw up sets like that. Anything holding a Lagging Tail is just going to get revenge killed by basically anything. Klutz is a huge commitment, and takes a lot of planning, but it can completely destroy the keystone holding somebody's team together if used right. It can work out like Damp, but Klutz is way easier to use because it doesn't just counter one move. But Limber on Stunfisk only saves you from Paralysis if you get Soak'd, and I cannot imagine somebody going into a battle with the intent to Soak a Stunfisk so they could Paralyze a slow Pokemon for some reason, instead of using Soak to hit Poison and Steel types with Toxic. Or, you know, a Water type just smacking Stunfisk senseless with a STAB Water move. Pokemon can get really technical and there's a lot of room for finesse, but sometimes a big, dumb "slap as hard as I can" works better.
@@PixieOfTheSewers In short: Pokemon is an extremely complicated game with literally millions of combinations. Some things are very narrow or hard to use, but almost nothing is COMPLETELY useless. Sometimes a slightly-less-good option can work better than "the best" option, because it's harder to predict. Even if an ability is completely redundant or outright bad on purpose, technically anything could theoretically BECOME useful in doubles, thanks to Skill Swap and Role Play. Elements in Pokemon tend to be "very niche" or "difficult to use", not really "completely worthless".
Even better would be to lower evasion, as you're shining a light on them to be able to see better. Imagine a Starmie or Lanturn with 100% acc hydro pumps, or Lanturn with 93% acc thunders. If they ever bring back Spotlight and made this change to Illuminate Lanturn would be scary in VGC.
Actually, the reason Regigigas has Slow Start is because it was originally a sort of bonus Easter Egg Pokemon. In order to get it, you needed all three Regis (who could only be caught in the Hoenn games after completing a convoluted puzzle), transfer them over to the Sinnoh games, and then go to Snowpoint Temple and do ANOTHER puzzle in order to find Regigigas inside. Long story short, Slow Start is a leftover hinderance from when GameFreak actually _wanted_ to avoid competitively strong "pay to win" Pokemon.
then the question is if it was obvious that they were changing the typings between them since for the most part gamefreak notices these little things then why the hell did they leave something so obvious in
No. Just defeat the Weezing or force it out of battle to make those meme teams crumble. Smh at everyone overestimating Neutralizing Gas, it's nice but won't save the Slaking gang.

9:00 that makes it harder to hit it with ground type move, since you now need to pop the air balloon, use skill swap or trace on it and then use magic powder or give it protean from greninja, and then you can hit it with ground type move.
My idea to fix Regigigas: Make it so that after one turn, either its Attack or Special Attack unlock (randomly or in a set order), then on the next turn the other Attack stat, then on the next turn its Speed. Would still get the _slow start_ idea across and actively hinder it but you could then actually see how it manages to be the boss of the other Regis.
Fun fact: Fan Rotom's Levitate ability used to not be useless! In Diamond and Pearl the only way to change Rotom's form was through an event item called the Secret Key and in those games when you changed Rotom's form it didn't actually change Rotom's typing, staying Electric/Ghost.
One thing you forgot to mention is that, when Rotom's Forms were first introduced (in Platinum version) they didn't gain new types, they all stayed Ghost Electric type. The type change came about in gen 5 likely to give STAB to their new moves they just gained, and to farther the point that a physical object is being possessed.

As a result, they constantly have to take power naps that last only minutes long while they work. Most likely, this is why Durant has Truant, cause it is referencing a worker ant's horrible sleep schedule that leaves them weak and sleep-deprived.
Or maybe it’s because the ability is called “true ant”

As i always say, Run Away should have the effect in battle that the user can switch whatever happens (in other words, Run Away Pokemon would be immune to trapping like Ghost types does)which actually would be pretty decent instead of being completely useless. Also Illuminate should boosts Electric type attacks cause well it uses light.
Run Away is a perfect ability for crossing Diglet Cave
I think illuminate should be a quick claw where it activates sometimes in double battles and draws fire, could be neat. Also honey gather could lower the enemies evasion, like a permanent sweet scent
Some changes I would make to two of the last three abilities that I am surprised they haven't made;
Run Away - Now let's you switch out for free.
I suppose.
I think making illuminate makes all dark type moves do half the normal damage because it makes so much sense
that Illuminate would actually be pretty strong in my opinion, especially with moves like U Turn and Volt Switch.

Not "great", just "okay"). Levitate on Fan Rotom is just there for consistency, so it ends up being redundant. And Illuminate having NO effect in PvP is just stupid.
Loved reading the wall. There are more useless abilities in the game. Like Klutz, Stall and limber on stunfisk.
Is there a tldr version of your message
@@PixieOfTheSewers In short: Pokemon is an extremely complicated game with literally millions of combinations. Some things are very narrow or hard to use, but almost nothing is COMPLETELY useless. Sometimes a slightly-less-good option can work better than "the best" option, because it's harder to predict.
Even if an ability is completely redundant or outright bad on purpose, technically anything could theoretically BECOME useful in doubles, thanks to Skill Swap and Role Play. Elements in Pokemon tend to be "very niche" or "difficult to use", not really "completely worthless".
Svierrod Cuppycake ok thx

Lord Helix is not a fossil. HE IS A GOD!
Illuminate could serve as an entry "Flash", dropping accuracy of the enemy pokémon as it enters in battle.
God that sounds awful. I hate missing so starting with a chance to miss would make me break everything in my house.
Well, not many pokémon have Illuminate anyways... you can always switch to negate the accuracy drop. Intimidate pisses me off the most.
@@colinfloyd5788 nice suggestion.
@@colinfloyd5788 what if when the pokemon with illuminate is out, no one on the field will miss an attack. So it's like a double edge blade.
Remember in Platinum, Fan-Rotom was still Electric/Ghost so levitate was helpful for it.
then the question is if it was obvious that they were changing the typings between them since for the most part gamefreak notices these little things then why the hell did they leave something so obvious in
Gamesmasher It was only in DP that all Rotom forms were Electric/Ghost. Platinum was when the appliance forms were given new secondary types.
Damp is also a good ability for shiny hunting Pokémon that learn explosion, or self-destruct.
The solution:
Neutralizing Gas Galar Weezing
No. Just defeat the Weezing or force it out of battle to make those meme teams crumble. Smh at everyone overestimating Neutralizing Gas, it's nice but won't save the Slaking gang.
What would happen with Galar Weezing and a Mold Breaker pokemon
@@gengarzilla1685 Then there should be a Skill Swap ability xD
Ok, Stoutland has some good sets. Intimidate and Assualt Vest and you got a tank
"The Dippen' Dots of doom" is one of the best description of Blacephalon I've ever heard.
Just wait until Slaking us revealed for Sword & Shield. Just pair it with a Neutralizing Gas Weezing in a double battle. Now you can destroy gods!
EDIT: Wow, so much likes! Thank you all
And we all have wanted to destroy gods Arceus and Mewtwo has stood at the top for too long 😈😈
OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU...
NANI????!??!?!?
#slothgod
I highly doubt those teams will be popular. Such setups sound too gimmicky and very reliant on Weezing's survival. Trust me, it'll die off.
Sorry but slaking will not be in SwSd.
I ran a mixed attacking Moxie Pyroar on Showdown and got a 6-0 sweep with it.
How many times
Just once. Managed several 3-0, 4-0 sweeps but only did a 6-0 once.
Well then congrats man but then again point remains moxie ain't as useful on pyroar as on the other pokemon who get moxie cuz it suits them that much more
@@akshatgoel1502 I never made the claim that it was useful. I just said that I did it.
So true
You forgot about rhyperior, it has the ability lightning rod which gives it electric immunity, BUT ITS ALREADY A GROUND TYPE
But what if in a future generation Game Freak make a move or ability that makes electric type moves hits ground types despite of the immunity.
Until you consider double
and triple battles
This is gonna age poorly when they release a move called 'Aim for the Horn' & an ability called 'Turn On the Sprinklers' 😂
Ash's pikachu: "Seriously, Gamefreak. Been doing this since gen 1. Get on it."
In later gens, it draws in electric attacks, making lightningrod super useful on a ground type in double/triple battles
Stunfisk has limber and pokemon showdown gives it a cheri berry, just in case it does get paralyzed somehow
Plus since gen 6 Electric pokemon cant get paralzed
Was gonna say that but you were first
@@thunderybuggy7399 they cannot get hit by thunder wave but still can be hit with stun spore
@@wildresin6292 since gen 6, electric types cant be paralyzed anymore even with stun spore

I feel like Slow Start would be decently balanced if it only took 1 or 2 turns to get going instead of 5
Or let regigigas use protect and rest to stall some turns so it can wait until slow start ends but it can't do that
The thing is, Regigigas has stats of legendaries... as a legendary... it hasn't grossly inflated stats like Slaking. It didn't need any nerf, especially not one that strong.
I would just give it Moxie.
I have an idea for another archeops ability: first flight. Agianst flying/levitating opponents it gains a speed boost
How would that work in a non-Single battle with a mix of flyers and non-flyers on the same side?
@@SuperGoker64 it would just get a speed boost at the start of the battle
@@frostedwyrm7321 That makes it sound like it'd still have that speed boost once the flyer leaves the field
@@SuperGoker64 I think the ability would search for a positive and not care about any non-fliers. As long as a flier or levitator is on the opposing side, archeops would gain the speed boost, and immediately lose it once it no longer has a flier to oppose. It'd be situational, sure, but a lot of Pokemon abilities are situational while not being strictly bad.
@@starduststriker8792 Hi.
I'm making a quick poll.
Say, do you have time for a bit AND do you have
knowledge about what attacks are good fit
for specific pokemon?
MandjTV: Every Pokémon ability is Useless.
Smogon: Am I a joke to you!!
Me defeating my father in Pokemon Emerald: omg i actually defeated a legendary level pokemon with beautifly
9:00 that makes it harder to hit it with ground type move, since you now need to pop the air balloon, use skill swap or trace on it and then use magic powder or give it protean from greninja, and then you can hit it with ground type move.
My idea to fix Regigigas:
Make it so that after one turn, either its Attack or Special Attack unlock (randomly or in a set order), then on the next turn the other Attack stat, then on the next turn its Speed.
Would still get the _slow start_ idea across and actively hinder it but you could then actually see how it manages to be the boss of the other Regis.
U mean it basically "reactivate" during battle becoming more dangerous as turns go by?
I’d just change the ability to Moxie.

Durant has it because it's a pun.
TRU-ANT
DUR-ANT
Get it?
You pronounce truant like "true-int"
So the pun name doesnt make sense
@@sleepiestboi4631 ...my live is a lie.
water melon I think they meant in terms of spelling, not pronunciation.
@@ammonitetheseaserpent3761 but it doesn't work because truant's Japanese name is namake, meaning lazy
Defeatist would be more understandable if the attack stats were dropped to 75% instead of 50%
Would still be terrible, but more of a fair nerf
My best guess for Durant having Truant would be because it's an ant and "Irony" that a hardworking ant would be lazy.
Nah, he has it cause it's a True Ant
10:14 i literally was searching for like 10 minutes trying to figure out what ‘golemcan’ is

It was a typo. The editor forgot to type in a space between the words Golem and can
mike: frillish with damp is useless. misty explosion: ima end this mans whole carrer
