    So 30+ Raptors on Super heavy booster and 30+ Draco thrusters on the deorbit trunk... there is some symmetry there 🙂

    YES THIS IS AN STUPID IDEA FOR ISS, AND WHY DETROIT ON MARS THERE'S NO HOMES, BUILDINGS ON MARS
    I DON'T THINK SO 😕
    THIS IS AN CRAZY PLAN FOR THE ISS . I LIKE YOU GUYS SPACEWALKS AND WORK. THAT'S VERY 😎

    One question that remains open is will the dragon they use to de-orbit the ISS go down with the ISS or will it detach and de-orbit independently and be recovered.
    The obvious answer is it will burn up with the ISS since it seems unlikely that it would have propellant remaining for a different re-entry location but would be good to confirm this.

      i'm pretty sure the ISSDV will stay dicked thriugh reentry as they probably want to control station attitude as long as possible during reentry in order to increase precision of the impact area. and the DV will be essential, in addition to the russian segment and progresses, to control attitude.

    Is it just worn out? Or is it that affording to keep it in orbit is too much?
    A new one will cost as much or more to keep in orbit as this one.

      Shockingly a new one would likely cost less. AFAIK iss costs billions and billions to upkeep. Nasa would rather put that money into exploration. And research

    NASA forgot that they can launch several dream chaser missions to bring ISS equipment back to Earth. Dream Chaser can dock at the larger supply port. Also, the separate partners, ESA & Japan, may want to charter their own dream chaser or cargo dragon mission to return their equipment. Also, will Japan want to separate their modules from the ISS?

      You have a very strange way of saying you do not understand orbital mechanics.

    • @joemaddoxrx7
      @joemaddoxrx7 3 місяці тому

      Is this why america cannot inhabit space without russia or china... They do not understand orbital mechanics and that is why they cannot put up their own. Because this commenter absolutely explains why nasa is in this current predicament.

      It's an aging craft whose resources would be better spent creating and operating a better system. Plus it barely has enough delta to maintain an orbit here. Mars is about 40 million miles at its closest.

      It would be near impossible with our current resources to do tbjs.
      Even if we could the iss wouldn't survive. Crew would be exposed to extreme amounts of radiation. Etc
