If you are looking for sight tapes for the Hotwire, the original website I referenced no longer exists. I have uploaded a copy of the tapes to my website. thebudgetsportsman.com/sight-tapes/
Thank you for adding this. I still have not added a sight tape, lol. I shoot 20 and 30 in my backyard, and have the floater estimated at 40. I need to get it done though before I face the time out in the field and end up full of regret for not taking action. Would you suggest getting a tape that appears to line up with my 20, 30, then move the floater to where 40 is and just start testing from there?
It’s probably going to take some trial and arrow. A better option might be to use a blank tape and make marks at 20 and 30 but also work your way out to 60. The further you go the more precise your tape will be. An 1” low at 20 will be hard to notice but 5” low at 60 will be more obvious.
Currently looking for a new sight and this really helped me out heaps. Thankyou
Your welcome! Glad it helped and thanks for watching
Just bought one and love it, the price for the product is outstanding. Great review and spot on.
Glad you like yours. I tried another sight and just switched back to the Hotwire. Still my favorite.
Great job with review! I agree i like the full circle around it not the broken circle
I’ve noticed that Trophy Ridge has put the broken circle on other sights as well. I’ve gotten used to it now but I do still prefer the full circle for sure.
I got this a few days ago. Seems well built 10/10 would buy again
Glad your happy. I sure love mine!
I just picked this sight up for $132 to put on my new to me Hoyt Nitrum. My first impressions are on par with yours. I also bought the hitman 6" stabilizer also. Im going to mount and shoot tomorrow after work. I'll post back with my report. Great video thank you!
I would love to hear what you think. After shooting with mine for almost 6 months now I can say that I don’t even think about some of my complaints anymore and I just really enjoy the sight!
Great review. Looking forward to hearing how much it improves your 3D shoots! God bless brother.
Thanks Chris. Should be fun. Can’t wait to hit some 3D
Good review. Very informative.
Thank you. I had a lot of fun making this one.
Awesome review thank you looks like it will be my next sight
Awesome! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine
Great review. Thank you
Your welcome. The Hotwire is still my favorite sight!
Nice review man
Glad you enjoyed it
Great review, might get one..
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed the review.
I looked at one of these sights recently, i may try it out this year for hunting. i use a single pin slider currently but having at least one fixed pin for unexpected encounters would be very useful.
I absolute love it. Even though I listed some negatives, I have gotten used to them and really love the sight.
Freaking awesome review
Thank you!
I bought this sight and put it on my new Rx3. Im pretty pleased with it. My nit pick is I wish the red pin was brighter when illuminated. Thats it 💪✌
Interesting. I don’t find the red one particularly bright either but I have had the same trouble with other sights...I do have some color blindness issues and red can be problematic for me.
@@TheBudgetSportsman Ive had the sight and bow for a while but I actually watched your review to see where I put the sight tape. Im that slow I guess 😆 lol
Did you get it all figured out? I’ll be happy to do my best to answer any questions.
@@TheBudgetSportsman Oh yeh I just didnt know where to stick it. Once I saw it goes on the right side of the sight I was good. I had two bullseye shots last night at 40 yds with one flier (my bad) lol. Thanks man✌
Awesome!
Just got mine in the mail today... you ain't kidding about that knob for the floater .. stiff as hell
Mine loosened up pretty quickly. It is still a bit stiff but much more manageable.
Yea rings are so trivial but your right they should be interchangeable.
Sounds like a top sight, I just wish it had 3rd axis adjustment
I’ve been using it for a while now and I’m really happy with it. For me third axis adjustment isn’t a deal breaker by any means but I can understand how it might be for some people.
Aug ‘19, confirmed on TR website there is no LH. Was pretty excited about this, then super let down.
Yeah there not left hand version yet. I’ve heard from several guys that are disappointed. Hopefully TR will release a LH version soon.
@@TheBudgetSportsman All the more reason to quit being left handed and join the rest of us in the RH world. haha ;-)
I bought two of these off Amazon for $107 each. I wish I found these before I found the IQ Pro Hunter sights. I don't have a need for the obnoxiously blinding Retina-Lock feature of that sight at low light with the sight light on.
Sounds like you’re enjoying the Hotwire. I used mine for about 5 years but I’ve finally decided to try something new, mostly because I got a new bow and wanted to change up my setup.
JUST DID A REVIEW , GAVE YOU A SHOUTOUT.
Thank you!
It's kinda the best of both worlds. And, I would imagine, you could set your two fixed pins at 30 and 40 yards (instead of 20/30) , if you wanted to, and use the floater for distances past that.
Yes I think it’s a great sight. I take most of my shots in the whitetail woods at 30 yards and under so I prefer having a 20 and 30 yard pin. You could certainly set it up as 30 and 40 and get some additional range on the long end.
@@TheBudgetSportsman I plan to buy one. Will use your link.
@@TheBudgetSportsman One question I have, that you didn't cover. On that sliding pin, how do you know what yardage it's set at as it moves up and down? Is there a scale label somewhere?
Robert Zeurunkl yes if you go back and watch the video around the 10:30 mark I talk about the included sight tapes or papers. I wasn’t happy with the included ones and printed some from a website that I included in the description of this video. Also if you watch through that segment that starts at 10:30 you will also see a clip in there of the sight scale on the side of the sight and the indicator pin moving up and down on the scale.
Robert Zeurunkl thanks for using the link. It really helps me do more with the channel.
Does the ring still glow in the dark???
I love trophy ridge I love the concept but I can’t find a left handed one
Unfortunately, I don’t believe they make it left handed. I’ve had quite a few people comment that same thing. Hopefully TR will listen and release a LH model.
Did you every have issues adjusting the middle pin? Instead of the pin sliding on the bolt the whole bolt will go up or down to where it either locks down and won't move when moving the pin down, or the bolt will unscrew out the top of housing when trying to move the pin up. Maybe I'm lucky and got a faulty one? Thanks for the videos
I’ve not had the problem.
How difficult was the floater to sight in? I've only ever shot fixed and didn't know how tough it was to get the right sight tape etc.
Ryder Tipton it definitely took some fiddling but not extremely difficult. I started by using my old 5 pin sight and comparing the spacing to the sight tapes. This got me at least a starting point. The next thing I recommend is that once you get your sights pretty close, you can adjust the entire sight housing to ensure that the dial indicator is precise on the correct yardages. Then go back and individually adjust the 20 and 30. If you do the 20 and 30 first, the only way to adjust the floater point of impact is to move the sight tape up and down. If the sight tape is adhesive this can be a pain. Obviously all your pins need to be at least close to where you want them before you start this final fine tuning process.
Hope this helps a little. If it doesn’t make sense feel free to ask any questions and I’ll do be best to answer.
I just got this sight on my bow yesterday only problem i had was i had to resight it in cause it came with the 20 and 30 fixed pin low in the sight so the slider had no room.
like the IQ
Yes it is similar, from my research this is about $100 less retail price.
What kind of bow you using? And your weight and draw? It looks alot like my hoyt
Hoyt Charger. 60lbs 28” draw.
Is the Hotwire ambidextrous. I’m a left hand shooter and on the packageing it says right but I couldn’t find any ‘left’ hand sights.
Unfortunately I don’t believe they make the Hotwire in left handed model
Unfortunately I don’t believe they make the Hotwire in left handed model
Yeah that is unfortunate
Do u think I could get 75-80 yard if I max out the 20 pin to the top my bow shoots 280-290
I don’t think you would have any trouble getting 75. You might get 80. I really couldn’t say for sure. 280 is definitely a good but faster than my bow so you should definitely be able to get some additional range.
I have since moved my 20 yard pin to the very top it can go. I bow get 72 yards out of my bow that shoots around 250 FPS.
Hi, I just bought this. Ho did you site in the third pin?
There are a couple of ways you can do it. You could just take a blank piece of tape and put it where the site tape goes. Sight in at 40 and make a mark. Sight in at 50 and make a mark. Sight in at 60 and make a mark.
This is basically what I did and the. Used that tape to match the marks up with an actual sight tape I downloaded from the internet that had one yard increments.
QUESTION: How were you dialing in random numbers your wife was calling out? 52/58, ect. If there are no numbers on the sight tape? Were you using the sight tape you found from the 3rd party you linked?
If so... you said you select tape based on your FPS? So I need a chronograph?
I was thinking of the alpha slide. But that's blank tape you write numbers in.
So I was wondering if maybe the single pin react would be better.
I explain all that in the video at 10:45
@@TheBudgetSportsman right I was just confirming the red hawk tapes is how you accomplished that. Only 3 months into archery so this is still new. Currently using basic 4 pin that came on my bow. Wanted to move to a single pin. But the cheaper one doesn't have sight tapes . Been watching a few videos and I'm thinking I can use tape from a different company or even red hawk
Which hex nut moves the 2nd pin?
Unfortunately, I had a slight issue with mine and had to send it in for repair and can’t remember which it is. You should be able to see which threaded rod that pin is attached to and figure it out from there if it’s the front or back nut.
How did you print the individual sight tape? On the site I can only find the whole page of tapes.
I printed the whole page and cut out the one I wanted and taped it on temporarily to make sure I had the right one. Once I had the right one I believe I cropped the page down to just that one and printed it on the address label. I used photoshop but I’m sure there are some free programs that would do it as well. Or you could just print the whole page on some kind of adhesive sheet and just cut out the one you want.
@@TheBudgetSportsman I can’t seem to find the website you posted to print from, could you send my that link please?

@@TheBudgetSportsman Thank you! Great review mine is on order!
@@tlong2346 your welcome!
Still worth it or are there better hybrids that are budget friendly?
I still use and enjoy mine. I am sure there are "better" options out there, but not sure if there are better budget friendly options.
Great review! Biggest con... no LH option :(
Definitely an issue. This sight came out around 5 or 6 years ago and I have gotten lots of comments about the LH problem.
are the pins titanium or metal?
I believe they are metal.
Is it possible to set the fix pins to 30 and 40 yards...
I have not tried it but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be possible. Each pin can be adjusted individually.
A BONUS RING may eliminate the cons of the inconsistency of the ring on the housing. Other than that I think everything else I could over look.
Yes, my cons were all very minimal. Even the housing ring I’ve gotten used to after using the Hotwire for a while.
What sight tapes work with this sight ? I just got one !
It’s been a while since I made this video but I believe I mention it somewhere in the video and there should be a link in the description.
@@TheBudgetSportsman ok thanks. Link doesn't work. Still like the sight ?
@@kdubxl1200n Yes, I still use it and love it. Not sure why the link wouldn't work. It worked for me. Try this: www.redhawk-archery.com/free/Front-Sight-Tapes.pdf
I wish they would have made the bottom pin .010
After using the sight for a while I can certainly see where that would be an advantage.
The Budget Sportsman my guess is they did that on purpose so that they can make a Hotwire pro in a year or so and that can be one of the improvements then they will raise the price and everyone who bought the original will upgrade and trophy ridge will make more money.
The Budget Sportsman. I just bought one today and got it set up. So far I like it and I wanted to say thank you for the link to the different sight tapes!!! I’m not sure what trophy ridge was thinking we as archers are going to do with four of the exact same sight tapes.
I’m glad you were able to get one. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve been enjoying mine.
The Budget Sportsman after shooting the Hotwire for a month or so I was just not happy with the 70 yard distance that it was maxing out at a so I decided to make my pin setup 30, 40, and 50 so that my floating pin will hopefully get me close to 80 yards. Most people probably wouldn’t have a problem getting 80 yards however I’m only fifteen so I can only pull 60 pounds Pair that with my short draw of 27.5 inches and the results aren’t very impressive. Not sure if I’ll keep my pins set up this way Or not. Also I had my second axis do the same thing to me.
Didn’t necessarily explain how to adjust it
What's the highest you can go on this site
Are you asking about the longest distance? That will depend on your bow setup. My bow shoots around 260fps and I get out to 72 yards
How far down can you set the pin down yardage wise before bottoming out.. I shoot out to 120 yds because here in AZ 50 yds spot and stalk to a deer is like 20 yds to most Eastern tree hunter.. I would like the floater to at least reach out to 100 and I'll take care of the rest.. but I like the fact it's got 2 other pins to set 30 40yds for javelina hunting we can get into pigs less than 30 yds..
Like I said I can get 72 yards out of my relatively slow bow starting at 20 yards. If you have a faster bow or set your top pin to 30, I imaging you could get more. I doubt you will get 100 yards unless your bow is very fast.
I'm shooting 320fps all set up.. it's cooking so i wouldnt doubt I should be able to reach 100.. thanks for the info..
Doesn't come left hand.
Unfortunately it does not. I sure wish trophy ridge would fix that.
So you need a range finder to
Yea, this is not a rangefinder sight. It is made to adjust to a precise yardage.
Thanks still looks like a good site
