- The day has finally come! I've been dying to cut down my collection for so many months now, so I challenged myself to get rid of 20 plants from my collection. The majority of the plants that were salvageable have gone to loving homes, and I'm looking forward to being able to see individual plants again, rather than one giant mess of leaves :')
***CORRECTION on the exo dimensions!: the smaller one on the left is 24"W x 36"H x 18"D

Don't come for me. "It's my life." Best quote of the day.
The way I clickedddd on this video 😍 love clearing out plants 😂
Girl I just found d your videos and as I'm watching I had already went through and purged almost all my pots that aren't clear last night. And today I had planned on going through the plants and unloading all the ones that bring no joy what so ever anymore. 💚
Thanks Alice! More than happy to take those off your hands! 🥰
I’m SO EXCITED to go through my own plants and get rid of some! Def going to rewatch this video when I do I love how this video was organized too like hearing about each plant and why they don’t deserve you 💅
My heart was on the floor when you were talking about composting the Dark Phoenix!!! Man what a great feeling just letting go things that you aren’t loving. Feels so damn good
My heart skipped a beat with the dark phoenix 😂 I'm definitely ready to do some decluttering myself! Thanks for the inspo!
Good job downsizing!!! I still have not bit the bullet and done one of these long overdue purges! You have inspired me though. ❤️
My eyes were just getting wider and wider as you talked about the dark Phoenix. 😆
I used to give my delcuttered plants to another plant loving friend, who never said no to them, but I know her family is overwhelmed by the space they are taking up, so this winter I just tossed them in the woods.
I just moved across the country… and ive been thinking about this. My new place is such a dungeon.
I needed this. Gonna do the same.
I sold alot of my plants through Facebook Market and friends this summer. I find easiest way to declutter is if they no longer spark joy. Or don’t do well in your home sell them to someone that have the conditions for them. Or knowing yourself you don’t give them as much love to them like the rest of your plants. I am down to 55 plants now which is a good number to spend more time in caring for them. Also i have learned the winter seasons which plants tends to stays alive or suffer.
So strange to here you say spring is coming. I am living in the netherlands. Here autumn is coming soon. Thanxx for you're video's. I watch them all.
Its three am....Im at work watching this video. Your description of the gray feather made me cackle 😂😂
From US and love you girl. You are so chill and such beautiful person not only your physical appearance but your soul..
Keep up the awesomeness.
Thank you for this video! Inspired me to declutter. I feel the same way and this video helped me feel better about getting rid of plants that don’t bring me joy. Don’t feel bad! Great job!
I was seriously freaking out when you were dissing on your dark phoenix! It's so pretty 🥹 Great video. I recently decluttered and it feels so good not to have to look at dying plants (though I did keep a couple precious stumps 😂).
Love this 🙌 I'm very much in rhe same space, I just want to enjoy caring for the plants I really love and not have so many that it causes stress. A good de-clutter is so good for the mind 😌
I love your content so much, and I really felt what you were saying about the guilt of letting a plant go when it’s not bringing you joy, and the stress that accompanies seeing a plant going downhill for whatever reason, be that mental health issues, or a lack of love leading to neglect on some level!!! With that being said, the Dean McDowell is literally at the top of my wishlist, so watching you say that you’re giving it away physically hurt me lol #thedrama hahaha! I’m only just at the beginning where you’re showing the McDowell, but I am so proud of your ability to know what is going to make your life easier and the ability you have for following through, even when it’s hard. I too place sentimental attachment on material things, and I just JUST went through and purged all of my adult daughter’s baby things and filled up 2 very large dumpsters with all of the things I held onto for over 20 years. My husband and I finally bought our first home at the end of November, 2021, and I was determined to release the baggage- both literal and figurative, of holding onto all of the things that did not bring me joy, that I was never going to use, and that I had kept for over 20 years for strictly sentimental reasons. I have to be honest and say it was completely traumatic!!!! BUT, once I was finished letting go of all of those “things”, I literally felt like I had lost 1000 pounds. It was very hard but so so freeing. Now I have a clutter free, beautiful home, and although I do think of all of the things I tossed and donated and sometimes I feel sad, it was a revelation to understand that I don’t need the material things to still keep the memories that I had attached to said stuff. I feel like a new person, and now that I know that things are just that; they’re things, and nothing more, I have been able to let go of so many other things that the “old me” would have held onto. You’re doing a great job! Xx -Nora
Dumpster Hoyas = Good
Shitty Moss Poles = Bad
Olaf = A Miracle
Another great video.
I find it so helpful to see what plants don’t make the cut. It helps me work out which plants I should think twice about.
Scindapsus are a “no” for me for the same reason. I’ve bought (and gifted these shortly after) too many times 😂
BTW you scared the shit out of me with the phoenix! :D that was a good one
i’m so happy for you; i’m glad you’re getting paid for your plants to help your financial hardship in 2022, and i’m ecstatic that you’re choosing to declutter your home! 💗💗
First of all… love that makeup! I wish I could do that
Omg you got me so good with the dark phoenix. I was like “noooooooo!!!!”
“glowy-osum? 😏” LMAO
Great video! Motivation to downsize my plant collection as I need to take plants from my sunroom inside for winter and don't want to stress about it. Thanks for sharing 💚
i cried laughing at 13:30 :D my god what a timing. also, glad you declutter a little as feel like plants and the regarding chores can be therapeutic but also can get overwhelming pretty fast (and that's me saying without having more than 50 plants to care for)
All the Glory big plants are all looking the same to me and with the pests and the one leaf wonders, I am done with them!
If Charm and her Mom don't want the Rubricinctum Platinum or Dean McDowell, I'll 100% buy one of them off you. What a beaut 😍 I live in Canada too! 🤞
It definitely is a problem the size of my collection an feel ya on this subject. So inspired by you to do the same plant purge. 💚💚
How cleansing 🥰 I need to do the same 🙈😝 I love your makeup, you are so beautiful Alice 🖤🌱☀️
Thank you for doing this video. It inspired me to let go of plants I don't really love that are taking up real estate
You’re so pretty and I LOVE your videos!❤
i envy you to be able to throw them out.....i am still working on getting things to grow!!! LOL
This was sooo good for me to watch! I also have a hard time letting go. Thanks for making this video.
So excited seeing the title of this video! I really need to do this as well
Heya, agree on getting rid of things that don’t bring you joy. One tip is to just set the plants that may be saved outside. I’ve set mine on the sidewalk for other people to take. That way someone can get joy from it and you get to save something living ;-)
I certainly enjoyed your video. I learned that 100 plants is my limit, except I keep ordering Hoyas!! Lol 😂 😂😂
I am always giving away, or composting plants. My money, so It’s like oh well lol. I don’t feel bad at all haha. Now you can add some more plants to your collection hehe.
I’ve been toying with the idea of a dean mcdowell. I like the look of the leaves. I’m sure Charmaine mom or her neighbors will love this plant too.
I am actually trying to do the same as you! I just go one plant per week :D hahaha BTW it is not easy to get rid of plants but then... yeah in long run good for me so have to do it
omg I also have an anthurium waterburyanum that just keeps melting and dies back. I keep telling myself that if I just give it the same time and care as other plants it will grow back and I can make my money back by selling it. But the truth is that even with proper care in growtent etc it's still melting and being a little b*tch. I can see that it keeps activating growth points under that dried out part of the stem, but it will have to survive in another home as a gift because I am D.O.N.E and don't have time for that negativity in my life. Thank you for coming to my ted talk about how much waterburyanum sucks *ss :) :) :) :)
Oh and I think the point of my comment was that I feel you on the plants where you just can't be arsed 🥲😅
What do you do for work Alice? Any tips on how to balance a busy work schedule and plant hobby?
This will actually be my next video! 😀
love the video and dont worry so much your doig awesome
The video i needed. I have been composting lately. Im not a seller...who has time. My mom wants mo more lol so meh. Byeeeeeee
I'm also downsizing too but in a harsh kind of way ... I just let them die off "naturally" outside. If they survive they'll survive, if not then so be it.
Love this vid Alice💚
Alice, great video! I need to do this to my collection. I don’t have anyone around me who would take the plants that I purge.
Also do you know how Charmaine’s mom gets plants across the border? I live 30 minutes from Ontario which has amazing plant shops and shows but I haven’t gone because I don’t know if it’s possible to bring stuff back
Hi, this is such an inspiration for me :D I too do let plants that no longer give me joy wither and die...
Also going back to your other videos and your theory about white veins in gloriosum, I can fully support this - I got this round form that in summer gave me leaves with lots of bleeding white veins while in winter it definitelly keeps ots veins clean and there are less of them. I didn't think of this before but it's super intresting!
Clarinervium hate me too. She’s millimeters from the compost. I don’t understand her struggle & clearly she hates my love.
Good for you. Take care of you. 😊🌹
oh wow you got rid of 20 plants!!!!
Love this video!
I have a extremely hard time getting rid of plants unless I give it to someone. I’m toying with getting rid of one plant (whose name I’ve now forgotten) it’s supposed to have white stripes and it has it put out one striped leaves since I’ve had it (Birkin) and they are all small leaves.
When you you rid of a Hoya and say “I know Charmaine already has one “... 🤧
I'll take them off your hands I hope they go to good plant parents thanks for sharing
❤❤
GLOWY-OSUM. 😁💖
You could always arrange for buyers to collect if you didn’t want to ship them? That's what I do.
Then you don't have the stress of shipping it and once the buyer has taken it home, it's their responsibility. I have spent 100s on plants, and with rising costs I couldn't afford to just give or throw away plants that didn't spark joy anymore. It makes for great content I guess
🌱🌱❤️🌱❤️💔🌱❤️💔🌱 Thank you.
THANK YOU FOR SPOILING MY MOM BESTIE
btw i still do have the tenue and she looks like a rat not the good kind but she's staying because I want her to become a beautiful angel
I would love to cut 20 plants and I need to stop propagating 😬
Absolutely no guilt, girl! It's so okay to give, compost, or just throw them away. It is about your enjoyment!! Remember, if it was a head of lettuce you'd be eating it at maturity. God created all green things FOR us. Not us for them.
I think you should stay away from begonias. Not in your bailiwick.
