I am so glad I went through the reckless phase! It really made me hone in on what I love and I now only purchase plants that I really want and have on my wishlist for some time before purchasing. I got so tired of purchasing plants and then being over it a few weeks later.
Every video I obsess over your eye-make up Alice 😍😭 I know its not plant related but I would love an eye- make up tutorial as well as what you use to take it off... All that aside, this video was very insightful and helpful 💛🌟
You’re all too kind 😭😭 I know my demonic look isn’t for everyone but it’s a part of my identity now 😆 I’ve been doing a two step oil cleanse for the past year or so! Right now I’m using the Inkey List oat cleansing balm followed by a tea tree cleansing gel.
Im obsess with your eye make up too. before you told us about your work I really thought you were a makeup artist 😊 also, would love to see your plant shelves 😀
I find this so interesting! I found pon to be a lot harder for me than moss and I can't seem to get the hang out it. Almost all the plants I moved to pon rotted. I like to cut up moss really fine or put in a food processor so that it's easy to remove and easier to water when dry. Mixed with pumice and other stuff, I find its a great substance. Love how customizable and personal plant care is
Nice little chit chat and lots of great ideas!! I’m really wanting to use a pin mix for the ease of watering but sooo hesitant 😩 I got chills talking about the chalk board but white board is super good idea 🌱
Love this video! I love that you guys collaborate like this on each other's channels

Ow god! And i thought that most of -lant people are organized and im the only one that has these”i know this plant might loose a leaf if i dont water it, but oh maaah gaaahad i sooo dont want to do anything” and end up browsing new plants to buy. Thanks for sharing! I thoufht im going crazy with my 500+ plants collection.
Hi, I'm also having a busy schedule which means I'm watching your videos like 2-3 weeks late and it's so nice to hear about tricks and tips how to manage your plant care about that :-) Also it makes me think about downsizing a bit.
I've got plant burnout and just plain exhaustion from being pregnant and have probably more than 200 plants in my plant room and 30 in my bedroom. You wouldn't believe the yellow leaves I knew were in there that I just avoided going into the room because I was too exhausted to water them all. I've let some of the ones I just don't care about die and have neglected the rest. I'm still exhausted and still have burnout but this video helped me through a solid hour and a half of watering so thank you. I'd say it's time for a major purge from my collection.
I can’t imagine taking care of that size of a collection while being pregnant 🥺 I hope you get your collection down to a size that makes you happy! You can do it!! 🤘🏻
Honestly I’m a cafe manager and Alice you sharing that part made me relate to you so much more! I always am trying to balance taking care of emergencies and training and then my person life aka my plants & knowing you also balance UA-cam really inspires me to try to squeeze it in!
I honestly think food service managers have some of the toughest jobs on this planet 🥲 but if you want to start a YT I say just start! It’s incredibly exhausting at the beginning but it only gets easier over time ❤️
Alice and Charmaine, thank you for introducing me to no-drainage systems. I’m trying about 10 plants right now, hoyas and philodendrons mostly and having good success so far. Using DIY PON (from wild fern’s channel) with leca base. I appreciate all you teach us on your channels. I tried to make my own “lazy pole” using a plastic cover from one of those slim three prong binder(cut off the heavy paper back) and wire front. Looks like crap but hey, first try....😂
Thank you so much for sharing! I got a paper cutter from the thrift store and I found that has helped to get more symmetrical plastic pieces for the lazy poles 😊
So happy I came across both of you! This is so informative but I also felt like I could just grab a coffee and have a chat with ya'll. wish ya'll were in Northern California! definitely could vibe with ya'll.
I've been really enjoying propagating in pon! I just raise the water level way higher, and make sure it stays high until its rooted, then I continue as normal. Ya Im kinda done with moss too, especially for hoya. Ugh its so frustrating to get the moss off of those teeny tiny roots
The thing that made me realize I had too many plants was when some started to decline with my neglect… and also getting thrips… It’s especially hard because I have about 100 plants at my house and 100 at my boyfriends house so there’s always some that are looking after themselves for a few days depending on which house we are at 😅
I finally did a spreadsheet for my plants so I knew....I currently have 177 plants(no duplicates). I watered one big watering on Saturdays and then small watering mid week for the high maintenance plants. I work 43 hrs a week, have kids and pets. Greenhouse cabinets help!
I still prefer moss for propagating because I fail so bad at perlite, water, and stratum for genuinely unknown reasons. It probably has to do with my environment. However, I do not like the environmental impact. I've also become super pro-tree fern fiber (especially as a pon topper for crawlers, incredible), but it is expensive. This week I learned about something called "synthic". Also not super cheap, or aesthetic lol, but I'm intrigued. It's obviously synthetic which has different implications, but it's also completely reusable and pH neutral. I'm considering trying it out in place of moss for a couple small projects and see what it's like. Also edit: I LOVE this podcast style. I could totally listen to the two of you podcast every week. 😂
Sometimes when I don’t have energy for a plant and don’t want to deal with my mom freaking out over it I just quietly place it on the balcony where it gets no moisture and full sun, then when it dies I can toss it with a lot less guilt 😅
Some really good tips, thank you 💚 I love the clear vessel method and got into it thanks to both of you 😊 regarding algae: I do agree that algae doesn't kill plants. However: algae as any other plant uses nutrients when growing. It takes it from the fertiliser, obviously. And if the algae was to decay at some point (ie. no water, light, ...), that would release lots of nutrients in the vessel at one time (think of instant compost), which is even further accelerated by the myco. I have experienced this when the roots on one of my plants rotted and I measured the EC value it was astronomically high, so basically it was overfertilised by the decay of the algae. Truth be told: there was lots of algae because I was too lazy to clean it every now and then 🙈
I've been thinking about using microbial innoculant in my collection....is it really that amazing? And just to clarify algae and clear pots...I grow many orchids and algae will kill them if it gets too dense, the roots no longer are able to properly photosynthesize....and you actually mention that in your video..52.20ish....and if it gets to dense the algae does use the nutrients which also leads to the orchid's demise. Not sure that semi-epiphytic plants would suffer the same as I don't grow them in clear pots, but orchids are true epiphyts and definitely are affected negatively by algaes. Btw I have been growing for decades and have suffered many losses due to algaes.
This was such a nice video! Def do more like this 🥰 my issue is when I dislike a plant and don’t want it but I feel like I should TRY and sell it and make money but then I don’t want to sell i. The condition it’s in so I keep it with the intent to rehab and it’s a whole vicious cycle it can be a little tough just throwing it out or giving something away when you’re like “ugh I spent so much money on this” so that’s my current hurdle
I definitely have a hard time selling plants I’m not proud of even if it’s just cosmetically ugly so I just end up letting it die or just giving it away 🥲 doesn’t make the most financial sense
Grab your McDonald’s and coffee and do this podcasty type of video again! This honestly just felt like I was hanging with my girlfriends and I enjoyed it so much! ❤
Really interesting video... Thank you 😊 the grow tent and semi hydro saved my mental health and plants. Ive not tried the myco but looking into it now. If algae kills plants, all my semi hydro plants In the tent would be dead 🤣
Dear Ladies, please set up Patreon :) No need for extra content just a venue to let us (people who do not and never will watch adds - I use adblock) support you. Or the whole join community thing that is becoming more popular on UA-cam, that would be nice too. I mean I comment a lot due to the algorithm, I used to not comment, now I just spew as much as I can to increase engagement. That's one thing I can do since the adds are beyond my capability. This video was just soo nice, I feel like I want to do more to support you now.
This is gold, you guys need a podcast!! Even tho that’s probably a stretch, due to your guys schedule. Enjoyed this so much!
agree with this completely!! pleeeeease start a podcast
they could post their podcasts to their channels so they can monetize their podcast :)
@@Naeou smart!!!!!
I think I’ll make coffee chats a regular thing on this channel! It’s too much fun not to keep doing 😀

Agree she’s a super model 🫶 and I’ve thought the same 😇
I stare at her eyes and her eye make up all the time. It’s so beautiful !!
Omg same! And her hair! I even commented/requested for hair care tips😅🤭✌️
Also, love Charmaine's low-key, is-she-or-is-she-not-wearing-makeup look 🥰

You two are the epitome of besties, love it ❤❤❤
Loved this laid back style. And you both!!
We love you back! 🥰
I haven’t even started to watch but I love collaborations
I love this! I know you're both very busy but would love to see more videos like this if possible.
Your wish is my command 🥹

I have been HAPPILY off fb for 7 years and you guys ALMOST make me want to join again hahaha
Oh dear 🤣🤣 it’s a love hate relationship with FB for me too, but when it comes to plants it’s where all the action is 🥲
I really like these sit down coffee/tea chat time vid! Thanks for all the tips!💚
I use soil with myco, but I didn’t know I could use myco for semi hydro too! I’d love to try it. Do you use it instead of hydro guard?

I loved this video. Please do more. Also, I saw a comment for a podcast. I would 1000% be with that.
Love this video so much! Really feels like I’m talking plants with friends💚💚
I love that 🥺🥰

I rushed home from work made some tea and ordered food for you LOVELY LADIES WOOOOOOOO this is a good day 🎉
Stop being perfect

I couldn’t imagine having my collection split into two locations - that’s gotta involve a hardcore organization! I hope you decimate the thrips 💪🏻
I really liked this chatty video. It was fun
Even tho I’m late to the party, this was a really fun video to watch.
I really like these more relaxed videos. Please do more of these!

Could not cope without the spreadsheet! ❤❤❤❤

I so admire anyone who can not only make a sexy ass spreadsheet but also KEEP UP WITH UPDATING IT 🤌🏻
This was so helpful and fun! Thanks so very much!
"I need to get younger." word my sister....I fell out on that one.
🤣

There will definitely be more!! ❤️

Moss for a substrate sounds like my worst nightmare 😂
No more moss 🥲🥲

Perfect video for me watering all my thirsty plants after a vacation. I was in YVR! I messaged Charmaine!
I think the threshold/limit is when either you or the plants are suffering
You're done. This video is over. Also, "Chack board" 😂😂 Charmaine never disappoints 🤣🤣
These tips are great. Thanks.

Anything over 100 is a lot or a large collection.
Grab your McDonald’s and coffee and do this podcasty type of video again! This honestly just felt like I was hanging with my girlfriends and I enjoyed it so much! ❤
You had me at McDonald’s
Not enough food slaps, but it'll do. Hehe. #friendshipgoals
My Queeeeeeeens 👏 i need to catch up but idc im ready for my favorite duo
🥺🥺🫶🏻
Really interesting video... Thank you 😊 the grow tent and semi hydro saved my mental health and plants. Ive not tried the myco but looking into it now.
If algae kills plants, all my semi hydro plants In the tent would be dead 🤣
The grow tent was the best decision I’ve ever made!
Love your videos ,lot off love from rainy Denmark ❤️
Thank you so much! It sounds lovely over there 💕
You guys should get a glass like slate, and put it on ur wall and use it as a whiteboard
Stahp this is the best idea ever
I save all my cherry 🍒 jars for moss propagating they are great , many food glass or plastic containers are great and recycling is nice too tfs .
I don’t know what cherry jars are but I bet they’re perfect
I’m watching , I’m watching. Does it help if I watch a second time. We need to get Alice on vacation in the UK 🇬🇧
Lisa you’re the best 😭

Love these videos ❤
I don’t post every day and hearing that you two don’t post every day helps me with the guilt of not doing it everyday.
Could you please update the link to great white? It is going to a magnetic board 😊
I’m so sorry 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve updated the link!
Hi, you mentioned in the video a plant supplement product, called "Myco" or "Mico". Can you tell me what that is? Many thanks.
she talks a bit about it in the vid "How I'm getting some of my plants to ✨thrive✨ lately!" - I am also hoping for a more comprehensive video soon :)
@@Naeou thank you
Thank you so much for answering the Q for me @Naeou! 🥺
11:00. Always wondered this, if you burp and make it come out of your nose does it still smell?
I think the burp molecules would travel through the nasal passage but some would be lost along the way so it would still smell but not as much
👍
What is an exo. Like I know what it is but what do you guys use?
We use the Exo Terra brand! Our favourites are the 36H x 24W x 18D and the 36H x 36W x 18D
Please can u tell me what Pon you use looks lovely and chunky?
We use lechuza pon mixed with coarse perlite and classic orchiata! Roughly equal parts
can you please manage my large collection of dying plants i beg you
What is pon
