@@jenmurrayxo glad to see you are watching Galaxy Quest! If you had not already responded, I was going to say I second, third, fourth, and fifth this motion! Haha.
Fun fact. The reason Bill doesn't have a bunch of marshmallow on him at the end is because they agreed if he was the one to get "slimed" at the beginning, he didn't have to get "marshmallowed" at the end. Thanks for your reaction.

I’ve seen this movie almost every year since it’s come out and it was only the last couple years I caught the joke that the “Keymaster” always locks himself out of his apartment.
The director of this movie is Ivan Reitman, who was no stranger to helming comedic films. Harold Ramis (Egon) directed such movies as "Groundhog Day", "National Lampoon's Vacation", "Caddyshack" and others.
Ramis was already directing by this point. Iirc, he has to be talked in to being Egon, he generally prefers working behind the camera. He had already directed Caddyshack in 1980, and Vacation a year before Ghostbusters.
@@beatmet2355 I think you're thinking of Lawrence Kasden. They kinda look alike. Ramis didn't completely hide behind the camera, though, one thing I remember for sure was he was Seth Rogens father in Knocked Up.

Welcome to the fold. Here's some trivia regarding this classic you might not know. In no particular order. John Belushi (Blues Brothers, Animal House) was originally supposed to be the Peter Venkman character. Unfortunately he ODed & died, so it was re-written for Bill Murray. Depending on who you ask, Slimer is an ode to the kinds of characters Belushi tended to play. If I could visit alternate Earths, I'd like to see the one where Belushi lived to play the role of Venkman. I can almost guarantee that the energy of the overall film would be different. Eddie Murphy was originally slated to be Winston, but he had scheduling conflicts (he was working on Beverly Hills Cop). The part the Rick Moranis got could have gone to John Candy, but he wanted to play the character as a Frenchman for some reason.
The hype around this one was extreme when it came out. And since we got it here in Sweden about 6 months after the initial release, the hype had grown to the extreme. Magazine articles, t-shirts and posters and of course that song. It was everywhere! It took some time for it to see it, a few years I would guess when it was released on home video or if it was shown on some of the movie channels. I love Ghostbusters, it really is a perfect movie. The comedy feels natural and the actors play off each other so damn well. Lightning in a bottle for sure 😃 It did happen quite often in the 70's and 80's.
Such a favourite from when we were kids, and not one but two iconic Canadian actors, Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis. This was a real labour of love for Dan Aykroyd, he's from a Spiritualist family and knows an enormous amount of ghost lore.
In the cartoon series based off Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman is voiced by Lorenzo Music for seasons 1 & 2 only. Music is best known as the Voice of Garfield the cat from 1982-2001. In the two live action Garfield movies from 2004 & 2006 Garfield is voiced by Bill Murray who played.....we know...Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters!
Big fan of this movie since I was a kid. Rick Moranis has always been my favorite part (especiallyonce he's possessed 🤣), but I have come around as a fan of Harold Ramis (RIP) in my adulthood. I just love Egon's dry delivery, for even the most terrifying information/situation "I'm paralyzed beyond the capacity for rational thought." For more of the delightful Rick Moranis - Little Shop of Horrors, a dark comedy musical directed by Frank Oz (Yoda, Miss Piggy).
On the surface this is a fun, funny, goofy horror film. But scratch the surface and it's very well written, acted, directed with a tight story to tell. Not one second is wasted in the film or unnecessary scenes or filler. Even though I've watched Ghostbusters many, many times I recently found things I've missed like the marshmallows by the eggs cooking on the counter were Stay Puff Marshmallows. A great little foreshadowing there. Also Louise the man always locking himself out of his apartment becomes the Key Master. Didn't pick up on that joke until reading about it in another reaction. Ghostbusters 2 is worth a watch and be interested in your thoughts on it. Great reaction and can't wait for the next one.
There's another, dirtier level to those names. Possessed Louis (Vinz Chlortho) is a man, and he's the "Keymaster." Possessed Dana (Zuul) is a woman, and she's the "Gatekeeper." How do keys and gates interact with each other? Yeah, I just blew your mind, didn't I?
You may not be aware of what caused Ghostbusters to be created by Dan Aykroyd in the first place. Dan owned a haunted house! This was no ordinary haunted house though. He'd hear music playing in the house like there was always some sort of party going on, but he could never find it. Only after he did his research did he discover that a very famous musician died in the house before he bought it. Mama Cass from "The Mamas and The Papas" threw wild parties in the house and always had great music playing. She haunts the house to this day. Mama Cass is who truly inspired Ghostbusters!. And now you know.
Which one there was two I know one had a older car and a monkey in it which I think it was called Ghostbusters and I think The Real Ghostbusters takes after the movie if I remember right.
This is an all time classic. So glad you enjoyed it. This is one of the first movies that I have a memory of seeing in the theater. I also remember seeing Gremlins and Indians Jones & The Temple of Doom. 1984 was a pretty good year.
I saw this film when I was 3 years old as my sister had the single and I was obsessed with the song. It became a massive part of my childhood what with the toys, cartoon and comic, it has stayed with me in to my adulthood and given me some of my best friends here in the UK and around the world. Ghostbuster-4-ever!
Bill Murray is one hell of an improviser. He's been known to improvise entire scenes. Sofia Coppola, who directed him in Lost in Translation (a movie you would like) said you only hire Bill Murray if you want, or at least don't mind, an actor who improvises all the time. If you don't like it, don't hire Bill Murray. He's going to do it, and don't even think of trying to stop him.
Nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song. It made $290-300 million dollars against a $30 million dollar budget. Originally, John Belushi was going to play Peter Venkman, but sadly passed away in 1982 at 35 of a heart attack. Bill Murray was cast instead, respectively. Jeff Goldblum was going to be cast as Egon Spengler, but the late Harold Ramis was cast. Eddie Murphy was going to play Winston Zedemore, but turned it down as he was too busy with Beverly Hills Cop. John Candy was going to play Louis Tully, but dropped out to star alongside Tom Hanks in Splash.
Me watching this movie as a child: "OMG I love this movie!" Me watching this movie as an adult: "23:40 ...did he say ''eleven-five a year'??" 😳 EDIT: I still love this movie. I just find it funny sometimes the stuff you pick up on when, as an adult, you rewatch movies you loved as a kid...
Well, you also need to account for inflation, $11,500 in 1984 would be about $32,000/year in 2022, so it's really not bad at all. People still make less than that on average.
@@BPhillips2000 Well I never said what they were doing was average lol. I said they were making more than the average wage for the time and even for now if you go by the rate they’d get today. But they also didn’t start their job expecting to fight a demigod or a giant marshmallow man lol.
If you notice when Peter starts talking business, Egon gives him hand signals as to how much to charge. Egon was the brains. Ray was the heart. Peter just kept it cool. Winston was the sex appeal. (GB Afterlife)
Great video as always Jen! Ghostbusters II is the one I watched the most of the two movies when I was a kid. You should definitely watch it. The entire cast comes back, including Slimer (the green fat ghost they captured at the very beginning). Also, Ghostbusters (1984) also spawned an animated series called The Real Ghostbusters, which was one of my favourite cartoons when I was a kid.
A funny joke is the character of Walter Peck “Dickless” is actor William Atherton who also played Richard “Dick” Thornberg in the first 2 Die Hard films, which also had Reginald VelJohnson aka Carl Winslow as Al Powell.
I laughed at Jen's comment about a college Dean typically being portrayed as a bad guy! For me the most devious one was Dean Wormer and his use of a little-known codicil in the Faber College constitution! "OUT WITH IT!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"But eat it a little bit" after they blow up Stay Puffy 😂 That's how you know you're having fun watching the movie. I don't know why that made me cackle.
I used to watch ghostbusters all night after I was finished with my homework and now I can completely say ghostbusters word for word from the beginning to the end
The pink slime coming out of the bath faucet horrified me as a child to where I was always afraid for years that it might just start coming out of running faucets around me, especially bathtub faucets. I'm glad I grew out of that fear taunting me in the back of my mind.
This is a classic for a reason. Such a sharp and well-written comedy with supernatural elements that just has so much fun with the concept. "Ghostbusters II" has gotten a lot of flack over the years when really the worst that can be said about it is that it's more of the same, and with the returning cast and creative team behind it, that is far from a bad thing. Also, if you can appreciate both movies, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" is truly a heartfelt tribute to their legacy closing out the series in a surprisingly moving way.
I am so GLAD you didn't watch Ghostbusters as a kid, otherwise we would have missed your AWESOME reaction. I remember seeing Ghostbusters when it came out; I was blown away. SNL alum films had been mostly low budget, crass humor faire, and this was a big budget production AND funny. An instant classic...the movie and your reaction!
I love Galaxy Quest!! Also yes totally watch Ghostbusters II it was just as funny as the first. Love it, also great joke is that the Key Master was the guy that kept locking himself out of his apartment.
I was too young to remember this one when it came out, but when Ghostbusters II came out, I remember you weren’t cool unless you had some “Hi-C ecto cooler” in your lunchbox. I was one of those kids that had a ghostbuster lunchbox and thermos and dressed up like Ray because I thought Dan Aykroyd was hilarious.
At the time this film was released it was a phenomenon. The song was on the radio all the time and there was a video game as well. Great reaction. I can't wait for Galaxy Quest.
Last night I watched this movie for the first time as an adult, and thiught it was really good, so I thought I would come back and revisit this old reaction video. And I have to say that I miss seeing Boston and the kitties in your videos, Jen! 😿
I haven't gone down there yet but some time last year around when the new movie came out, they put the Ghostbusters sign back onto the firehouse here in NYC used in the movie.
I was 14 when I saw this in the theatre and LOVED it! Made myself my own Ghostbuster costume that year with a tan hoodie and trackpants, and a homemade Proton Pack with a big black box, a school backpack and a garden hose. Took me 33 years in 2017 to put together an accurate Ghostbuster cosplay as Ray Stantz. (Unless someone already mentioned it) Here's the subtle joke most tend to miss- The "Key Master" is Louis Tully, an idiot who keeps locking himself out of his own apartment. LOL As always loved the reaction Jen!
Be the only other person on the planet who knows... The name of the God is Gozer The Gozarian, (Gozer the Travellor, Gozer the Destructor). The devil dogs are Zuul - The Gatekeeper and Vinz Klortho - The Keymaster.
Jen, Egon was played by Harold Ramis. He did NOT direct this. Ivan Reitman did. A lot of people confuse these 2 because both are usually associated with Bill Murray. Reitman also directed Groundhog day, which Ramis also wrote. All 3 of these guys worked together a lot. Bill had a falling out with both men, but made amends shortly before each of them died. Reitman passed away a couple of months back, and Ramis died back in 2014.
Ghostbusters 2 is definitely worth the watch. It doesn't capture the lightning in a bottle that the original did, but I'd give it a solid 8/10 compared to the original's 10/10 for me. I grew up with both movies, though, so I am really fond of them and couldn't see one existing without the other. That said, I'd have to rate Ghostbusters: Afterlife as my second favorite GB movie at a respectable 8.5/10. And at CinemaCon, they just announced a new Ghostbusters movie will begin pre-production at an unspecified future date. So I'm interested to see where the GB universe goes from there. On your own time, I also highly recommend watching the 80's animated series "The Real Ghostbusters." Dozens of episodes are available for free on the official Ghostbusters UA-cam page. It takes what was so very special about the original movie and expands it into a fun continuation of the Ghostbusters lore. All of the characters are spot on accurate to their movie counterparts, albeit looking very different from the actors in the original. The writing is solid and the stories are engaging and don't talk down to the viewers (more specifically the first two seasons). All in all, it is a very fun show. If I were to recommend one or two episodes, they'd be "The Boogieman Cometh" and "The Man Who Never Reached Home." Great series and worth a watch.
I've seen this movie probably dozens of times at this point, and this was the first time I ever noticed that Egon was subtlety telling Venkman what to charge at the hotel. Part 2 seems to get a lot of flack, but it's still a fun movie.
The sequel is terrible, plain dreadful can't hold a candle to the brilliant original this I'm afraid is one franchise they should've left at one movie only.
@@LarryFleetwood8675 I think it's a watchable film, mainly because of the cast, even if it's an almost exact retread of the first film, but I agree that it would have been fine if it'd been one & done.
Yes, the second one is worth the watch. Back in 2011, when I started my film career, I got the chance to work with Ernie Hudson, who was the fourth Ghostbuster. He's a great guy, very down to earth. I had a picture with him on my old phone, which got stolen. So the only proof I have that I worked with him is the DVD of the movie. Galaxy Quest is one of my top five movies of all time!
I still have my original VHS📼 copy of this movie that I ordered via my old movie club membership. I bought a box of Twinkies yesterday just for this occasion. They were regular size, not 35 feet long. I also wanted to make some Smores but I couldn't find any Stay Puft marshmallows. _Ghostbusters 2_ is a lot of fun also. R.I.P. to director and fellow Canadian Ivan Reitman, who died a couple of months ago.
This movie holds up really well, but in 1984 these special effects were amazing! I never get tired of watching this one. Such a well done gem of a movie.
The scary parts of this definitely are scary, especially for a movie that's really a comedy, but those moments are brief enough that it's fine when you're a kid. I was 11 when this came out and we saw it 6 or 7 times in the theatre. It's completely engaging when you're a kid and there's another layer that you get when you're an adult. Among other things, the pacing, cinematography, and score are all top-notch, and most of the 1984 practical effects hold up remarkably well, aside from the Terror Dogs running. (That looked janky even in 1984). Bill Murray did improvise a lot of his lines. The DVD commentary's a great listen because they discuss that and a lot of other things.
Hey Jen!!! I love this movie and your reaction was great! The floating green ghost they go against in the hotel is called Slimer, and is based (in a way) on a real person. Ackroyd (Ray) and Murray were part of the original cast of SNL in the 1970s with the late John Belushi. Ackroyd and Belushi were quite close, having done several movies togther as well as SNL...'The Blues Brothers" and Steven Spielberg's '1941' among them. When Ackroyd, who is obsessed with the paranormal, was writing the screenplay, he created Venkman for John Belushi. Unfortunately Belushi tragically died due to his huge drug habit (off topic slightly...Belushi's death helped Robin Williams get clean for quite a few years as they partied together). Anyway, as the script took shape Harold Ramis (Egon) joined in writing and Ramis had also worked with Murray on the films 'Stripes' (acting) and 'Caddyshack' (writing and directing). As Ivan Reitman was going to direct, and Reitman had also worked with Murray on 'Stripes' and 'Meatballs'...Murray was approached. But, when the design of the film was beng worked out, everyone wanted to pay homage in some way to John Belushi...so, Slimer was based a little bit on John Belushi. There is a cool series on Netflix called 'The Movies That Made Us' that did an episode on 'Ghostbusters' that really gets behind the scenes on what happened with the production...it almost didn't get made. 20:52 - The song is called "SavingThe Day" by Alessi. It was my favorite song from the 'Ghostbusters' soundtrack, which I had as a kid...on vinyl, no less. I don't know how many of my mixtapes that I made had that song on them....A LOT! I liked hearing you hum the tune! Made my day! Personally, I didn't care for 'Ghostbusters II'...it had moments, but overall, I didn't like it ( I would definitely be here for the reaction, though!). However...all of the other movies I talked about are fun and worthwhile...even '1941', which is one of Speilberg's few flops. It's still fun. I really recommend 'The Blues Brothers' (the first SNL sketch turned movie), 'Stripes', 'Caddyshack', and 'Meatballs' (which I believe was Murray's first movie). I await your reaction to 'Galaxy Quest' which is one of the best movies EVAR!!!!
After hacksaw ridge I needed something fun and what better than this 🙂 seeing Boston in the back cheered me up right away 🐶 . This movie has so many lines I've quoted over the years it's just a classic movie 🎉 ofc this was reacted to a long time ago and I don't know if Ghostbusters 2 was ever put on a poll or not you'd have to confirm either way but I would say watch it yourself in your own time if subscribers aren't keen cuz it's a lot of fun . Also surprisingly the Ghostbusters afterlife movie was really good and I highly recommend that Jen 👍 . Lastly another Dan aykroyd movie that I actually added to the request list a while back now is coneheads I believe that's another you would laugh your butt off at 👌 anyways as always thankyou for the awesomeness and I hope you're having a lovely day
If I remember right the melted marshmallow was actually heated shaving cream. It was heated a bit too much and caused second degree burns on a couple of extras and Peck the EPA agent that shut down the containment unit.
A subtle joke that was revealed in the director’s commentary on the DVD was after they captured Slimer at the Sedgwick hotel and they’re discussing price, Harold Ramis (Egon) is feeding Bill Murray (Venkman) the prices with the number of fingers he’s holding against his face… $4000 (four fingers up) $1000 (one finger up)
A personal fave - perfect blend of laughs and scares w/the trifecta of Murray, Aykroyd & the late, great Harold Ramis (who co-wrote but did not direct this - that would be the late, great Ivan Reitman who directed Bill & Harold in STRIPES another must see). Fun fact - Slimer was modeled after the late, great John Belushi (who was to play Venkman but sadly passed away) - and speaking of you s/check him with Dan in THE BLUES BROTHERS (it was so disconcerting to hear you profess you only knew Dan from MY GIRL ! LOL) I recommend an oldie but a goodie in the same vein of comedy & monsters with ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN) Nice job Jen :D
The fellow playing EPA agent Walter Peck, William Atherton, was an excellent actor, and a great guy...unfortunately, the popularity of this film made him world renowned as a 'dickless' ass. I believe he retired from acting shortly after. To see him in earlier, similar persona, I'll advise the comedy "Real Genius."
Ghostbusters reaction? Yes, have some! While there are mixed opinions on 2, I think it’s definitely worth a reaction. It’s pretty fun. _The Real Ghostbusters_ animated series was also very enjoyable.
Context before you watch the sequel. This came out in 1984. The high quality animated series premiered in 1986. Sequel came out five years after the first one, so it took some cues from the series.
Walter Peck "got his just desserts" when the melted marshmallows splashed on him! Saving the Day was performed by Alessi. There's a Mick Smiley song (Magic) when the ghosts fly over New York.
This is such a fun movie. Excited to see you watch Galaxy Quest. Part 2 of this is ok, some don't like it though. However, the newest release, Ghostbusters Afterlife is great, highly recommend that one.
I first saw this circa 1986 when it JUST came out for vhs rental. Yea the good ol days at the video store are fond memories I have. As a kid it blew me away and became obsessed with it. When the animated show came so did the toys and god I wanted the proton pack but my folks couldnt afford it back then. So I grew up a film fan and prop/replica collector and now I own the proton pack, pke meter, trap etc etc Its amazing the impact a film can have on you. Ghostbusters will always be my one true cinematic love🚫👻
It's great to see you watch all these old classics ...sure don't make them like that anymore . I was 9 year's old when I saw in my small town cinema here in Ireland. I still love it today .
Harold Ramis wasn't originally supposed to be one of the actors. However, when none of the actors trying out for the role of Egon could capture the character the way Ramis imagined him, he stepped into the role himself.
This movie was so popular that there was a cartoon on TV for a while, titled The Real Ghostbusters. The ghost that slimed Bill Murray's character was kind of like a mascot in the show. He was aptly named Slimer.
Ghostbusters(1984) is an homage to The Ghost Breakers(1940). It's a horror comedy. The late Elmer Bernstein composed the music score. Ray Parker Jr.'s theme song is catchy. Walk the Moon is a good cover of the song. Ghostbusters debuted on the ABC TV Network in September 1987. There was a 1975 Filmation TV show called The Ghost Busters. It was shown on CBS. Ghostbusters: Afterlife(2021) was released on the silver screen last year. I have never had Ecto-Cooler.
Dog plunk made me laugh! I'll echo some previous comments saying yes to watching part 2. The first is definitely the classic one, but the sequel is fun, too. Also, Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Before Ghostbusters, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis worked together starring in the movie "Stripes", an army comedy. As for Dan Aykroyd, I very highly recommend "The Blues Brothers", a musical comedy classic, and "The Great Outdoors", starring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd. I have yet to hear anybody say they didn't like it.
The sequel is one of those unusual movies, that many believe is better than the first, I am on the fence about it, but think a really good watch. Thanks for posting your thoughts on this movie.
I highly recommend GALAXY QUEST! Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tim Allen, Sam Rockwell, Tony Shalhoub....

I'd never that about that bit of irony with Louis. That's a great touch, thanks for sharing!
🤣 All that turning around and then he doesn't lay on the spot. 🤣
Lollll he's such a funny guy 🦁🥰
You may not be aware of what caused Ghostbusters to be created by Dan Aykroyd in the first place. Dan owned a haunted house! This was no ordinary haunted house though. He'd hear music playing in the house like there was always some sort of party going on, but he could never find it. Only after he did his research did he discover that a very famous musician died in the house before he bought it. Mama Cass from "The Mamas and The Papas" threw wild parties in the house and always had great music playing. She haunts the house to this day. Mama Cass is who truly inspired Ghostbusters!. And now you know.
I love the 80s cartoon series "The Real Ghostbusters"!
"Collect Call of Cthulhu" "Ragnarok & Roll"
@@jean-paulaudette9246 Extreme Ghostbusters is actually really good too.
@@jean-paulaudette9246 “The Boogieman Cometh” "The Grundel" "When Halloween was forever" etc
Which one there was two I know one had a older car and a monkey in it which I think it was called Ghostbusters and I think The Real Ghostbusters takes after the movie if I remember right.
I've bought 5 seasons off UA-cam - I'm having a blast!
I personally love part 2 as well. Lot of people thought it was not good, but it's stands on it's own.
Rick Moranis actually wrote most of his character and he did great imo.
Agreed. This SCTV skit is one of my favourite bits by him :D

"You'll perish in flames!" 🤣🤣🤣
Rick Moranis is one of the best parts.
This is an all time classic. So glad you enjoyed it. This is one of the first movies that I have a memory of seeing in the theater. I also remember seeing Gremlins and Indians Jones & The Temple of Doom. 1984 was a pretty good year.
This must have been awesome to see in theaters!! ☺👍
My favorite from that year though is The Terminator, hands down
I saw this film when I was 3 years old as my sister had the single and I was obsessed with the song.
Oh wow that would've been a very different movie with that cast!
Belushi died of a drug overdose, not a heart attack.
And John Candy turned the role down because he wanted to do tully with a strong german accent which the directors did not want
Me watching this movie as a child: "OMG I love this movie!"
Me watching this movie as an adult: "23:40 ...did he say ''eleven-five a year'??" 😳
EDIT: I still love this movie. I just find it funny sometimes the stuff you pick up on when, as an adult, you rewatch movies you loved as a kid...
🤣🤣
Well, you also need to account for inflation, $11,500 in 1984 would be about $32,000/year in 2022, so it's really not bad at all. People still make less than that on average.
@@killinglonliness88 I'd argue 'fighting a Sumerian demigod on the roof of a Manhattan high-rise' to be anything but 'average'...
Dana's apartment is at 55 Central Park West and yes, there really is a church next door.
You gotta love how they turned the EPA into the bad guy. Reagan years. One of my all-time favourites.
I saw this at work and picked up 2 Italian cheese breads from Little Caesars for the occasion. Let's go. And thanks Jen this should be fun.
Lol nice 👌😆
@@jenmurrayxo very nice. However half way through the reaction and I can't move. But having a blast as always lol.
19:10 Good eye! That is indeed Reginald VelJohnson, who also played Al Powell in the first two Die Hard movies.
with William Atherton
I laughed at Jen's comment about a college Dean typically being portrayed as a bad guy! For me the most devious one was Dean Wormer and his use of a little-known codicil in the Faber College constitution! "OUT WITH IT!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"But eat it a little bit" after they blow up Stay Puffy 😂 That's how you know you're having fun watching the movie.
I don't know why that made me cackle.
🤣😋
I used to watch ghostbusters all night after I was finished with my homework and now I can completely say ghostbusters word for word from the beginning to the end
Please watch "Gremlins"!

The pink slime coming out of the bath faucet horrified me as a child to where I was always afraid for years that it might just start coming out of running faucets around me, especially bathtub faucets. I'm glad I grew out of that fear taunting me in the back of my mind.
I had a niece that loved horror films but she got terrified of the scene where the ghost grabs Oscar.
Great job giving her a SPOILER about the second movie! -_-
This is a classic for a reason.
Thanks David! This must have been so cool to see when it came out! ☺👍
"There is no Dana. There is only Zuul." One of the greatest lines of the 1980s.
I love Galaxy Quest!! Also yes totally watch Ghostbusters II it was just as funny as the first. Love it, also great joke is that the Key Master was the guy that kept locking himself out of his apartment.
We actually have the ghost busters building here in NYC...it's not uncommon to see the gb vehicle driving around..😅
‘…dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!” 😹🐶

At the time this film was released it was a phenomenon. The song was on the radio all the time and there was a video game as well. Great reaction. I can't wait for Galaxy Quest.
"Oh, this is so exciting, you're going to find out who you're gonna call!" -Zombieland
Last night I watched this movie for the first time as an adult, and thiught it was really good, so I thought I would come back and revisit this old reaction video. And I have to say that I miss seeing Boston and the kitties in your videos, Jen! 😿
Ghostbusters II and Ghostbusters Afterlife are a good watch, makes a great trilogy. Thanks for reacting.
This.
Fun Fact: The $5000 that the Busters charged the fancy hotel for their first job is roughly the equivalent of charging $14,550 in today's money! 💲💲💲
(Unless someone already mentioned it) Here's the subtle joke most tend to miss-
The "Key Master" is Louis Tully, an idiot who keeps locking himself out of his own apartment. LOL
As always loved the reaction Jen!
Harold Ramis did indeed direct Groundhog day. Its the movie he and Bill Murray had their falling out.
Bill and Ivan NEVER had a falling out.
Hello Jen, great reaction. William Atherton who played "Peck" was in both Die Hard 1 and 2. 😁 Really enjoyed it Jan, see you next time.
I like to think that after the events of NY, he moved to LA and became a reporter.

To be fair, prior to DVD I'm pretty certain that Egon was cut out of the scene, but was restored in the DVD versions.
@@TheMarcHicks Yep. And Harold Ramis even remarks on that particular point in the DVD commentary.
“How did they get all that stuff into jail?” All the times I’ve seen this film and I never asked that!
You bought Twinkies for this, that's awesome!!! 😆👍
ahh you cut out my favorite line ever “back off man, i’m a scientist” i’ve been saying that my whole life 😂😂
love the videos, especially the 80s 👍
This movie holds up really well, but in 1984 these special effects were amazing! I never get tired of watching this one. Such a well done gem of a movie.
So much fun!! ☺️

Literally just heard you say the title, hit pause and had to comment how excited I am
When you said "I am going to be watching Galaxy Quest soon" I was relieved. That's a much better example of a comedy with her
Galaxy Quest coming to UA-cam May 10! 👌
Jenn part 2 is definitely a must watch and to me it's just as good as the first one
Yes, definitely watch the second one!
Thanks for the info Rob, very interesting ☺👍
13:00 Everybody likes Janine.
13:03 The real hero of this movie.
21:31 Gozer is a very attractive, very 80s demon.
When I first saw this in theaters. That first ghost almost made me fall out of my seat.
Number 2 & Afterlife are both worth watching.
The green ghost was later dubbed "Slimer" and was given a major role in the Ghostbusters cartoon series.
YES, Ghostbusters 2 IS worth a watch. And other than Walter Peck, everybody is back in the sequel. (Even the ghost, Slimer, comes back.)
You are spot on about Bill murray - ive read multiple articles/interviews that have said he improvised alot of his lines.
"I wonder if my mom would be happy if I was dating a Ghostbuster..."
I got 50 bucks says she'd be ecstatic.
🤣
A subtle joke that was revealed in the director’s commentary on the DVD was after they captured Slimer at the Sedgwick hotel and they’re discussing price, Harold Ramis (Egon) is feeding Bill Murray (Venkman) the prices with the number of fingers he’s holding against his face…
$4000 (four fingers up)
$1000 (one finger up)
A personal fave - perfect blend of laughs and scares w/the trifecta of Murray, Aykroyd & the late, great Harold Ramis (who co-wrote but did not direct this - that would be the late, great Ivan Reitman who directed Bill & Harold in STRIPES another must see).
He plays a similar authority figure in LOST, and he's also in The Hindenberg (1975), one of Robert Wise's later films.
Ghostbusters reaction? Yes, have some!
While there are mixed opinions on 2, I think it’s definitely worth a reaction. It’s pretty fun. _The Real Ghostbusters_ animated series was also very enjoyable.
"Let's show this prehistoric bitch how we do things downtown!" My favorite line.
Dam Akroyd's parents he got were professional psychics and mediums, probably where he got some of the ideas for the script.
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOIN!??......cracks me up every time...lol...lol...lol
Dan Aykroyd enters: "I know him as the dad in My Girl." Oh Jenn, we have so much to show you, but that means a lot of content available.
Agreed! ☺👍
@@jenmurrayxo Would love to see The Blues Brothers on here. Most likely Dan Aykroyd's second most famous role after this.
I think you also might like What About Bob, staring Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfus.
I, personally, liked 2 more than one. Some don’t. I would recommend it
The sequel is one of those unusual movies, that many believe is better than the first, I am on the fence about it, but think a really good watch. Thanks for posting your thoughts on this movie.
I think #1 is much better, but, for some reason, I think #2 is more rewatchable.
@@jkhoover It is because of Oscar that number 2 is more rewatchable.....No spoilers here
