  • Pink Floyd - Division Bell (1994) REACTION - to one of the most beautiful song for me .
David Gilmour such a unique magician - it's not just music - it's a cosmical unreal songs - one of the most awesome solos.... live in Gdansk (2006)
    Lyrics.
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before times took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay
    The grass was greener
    The light was brighter
    When friends surrounded
    The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
    There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
    The grass was greener
    The light was brighter
    The taste was sweeter
    The nights of wonder
    With friends surrounded
    The dawn mist glowing
    The water flowing
    The endless river
    Forever and ever

Finally, someone who listens to and feels the music, without trying to analyze what it all means. The only thing that matters are your genuine emotions. Thank you for your great reaction and for introducing me to a new and beautiful version of this song.

"I have so many rainbows of emotions, I cant explain"...you got it, river of tears came up while watching this, tyvm soul mate... Gilmour doesnt only knows the notes of soul, he plays them in a connective way that you feel that there is more then misery, high hopes literally combines all his playing... through the pain of life, the struggle within, when you think it cannot be darker like in comfortably numb there is allways beauty inside and through his guitar sound waves and timings you feel rainbows and find the light channel of hope to come back to life: high hopes!

Being a huge fan of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour's solo work, I was involved in a car accident many years ago that left me in a coma...my best friend who is also a huge David Gilmour & Pink Floyd fan had the nurses place a set of headphones on me in hopes I would return from wherever I was. I came out of my coma listening to their 1994 Pulse concert. So yes, music is very powerful and David Gilmour is magical indeed!

I work as a lighting technician for a manufacturer and was able to meet David a few times. Especially in preparation for a show or tour. I have never met a person more liberty, friendlier, more polite than him. He takes care of everyone during a tour, whether driver, helper or musician. He is not only the perfect and most brilliant musician, he is also a person to look up to and inspire in every area. If someone had a problem, whatever, he set heaven and hell in motion so that it could be resolved. And that's how he lives. Should he leave this world, she will lose one of the greatest people ever.

The beginning of this song is about the rise off the band they had no boundaries. The line ( the ringing of the Division Bell has begun. David is saying it's the beginning of the end of Pink floyd. The grass was greener, the light was brighter, with friends around us. The night's of wonder. Also we reached the dizzying heights of that dreamed of world. They reached fame and stardom. They reached the pinnacle of their career, at that point they began the process of what we see today. Sad but true. Excellent song about a bands start and ultimately what we see now as their career slowly becomes to the last page of Pink Floyds journey.

I'll keep this comment short and sweet, but there are two things of beauty in this video -- the song and your reaction to it. I was hoping you might cover some Pink Floyd songs, after learning that you are a fan, I hope you cover more of them from time to time! And once again, I am treated to a version of a song that is even better than the original, thank you once more. I love this version so very much. ❤ Oh, one more thing, The Division Bell doesn't always get the credit it deserves, so I also appreciate you choosing a song off that album to review!

High Hopes is in my opinion that David Gilmour and other original members of Pink Floyd grew up in Postwar England trying to recover from WWII. Division Bell is a bell used to signal that everything will become ok. I could be wrong. Like other Pink Floyd's song, Comfortably Numb, classic song means that original Bassist, Roger Waters was sick prior to a concert. Band called for a doctor to assist Roger. As doctor treated him, Roger remembered that time when he was a kid being sick. Like he was a kid, and Roger getting Comfortably Numb. All Pink Floyd's songs have a meaning.

😆😆😆 "i truly want to hear what Roger Waters thinks about it ... with his big ego"!!! So funny, so true! Great songwriter, huge ego! This song performed by David Gilmour is one of the greatest
performances of any band/artist. The guitar solo, both slide and acoustic is spectacular. Great reaction! Here is some deeper insight into the meaning of the song:
