- Fly with me from the Diamond Factory in London, Canada to St. Louis Missouri on the first day of my checkout to ferry the one and only DA62!
Day 1 includes chatting with regional sales manager Dirk Vander Zee of Premier Aircraft about my favorite features. As well as some tips and tricks flying it, and our arrival into St. Louis for some very looked forward to Italian cuisine and wine.

That was uneventful but exceptional for the professionalism and the knowledge shared between the generations of the two pilots. I've had a commercial ticket for 50 years but no longer fly and this was particularly enjoyable to an old single engine relic. Great job.
Dirk has a Great radio voice. Great video Hayley.
Always fun to watch. Thank you for bringing us along.
Great video! I did my multi-IFR on the DA42, and would love to fly the 62.
One minor nitpick - with ATC, you requested to "divert" rather than "deviate", which could mean that you were planning to terminate the flight at a different airport than was originally planned rather than deviate to avoid the weather, which was a great in-flight plan!
Enjoyed the video and the flight. Thanks!
Awesome flight!! Thanks for sharing. Congrats.
Omg what a beautiful aircraft !!
I enjoyed this video. I miss flying. . . .
Great video Hayley! Beautiful aircraft
Enjoyed---really fine landing !
Enjoyable flight with good company
I cant wait to see you flying the DA 50 RG
Great discussion about the advantages of Fadec. That's good tech, reducing workload.
Love my 62! She’s only a couple months old, and it’s an amazing aircraft.
Glad you love them too!! They’re hard not to
How much did you buy it?
Interesting DA capability. Dad flew our family from Winnipeg to Greenwood Nova Scotia when I was eight in 1967. Flew over Montreal Expo 67 site and at 65 I still remember it. Debonair is a sweet plane.
I really enjoyed this one, loved the banter between you two. Dirk seems like a really cool guy to fly with and I am a bit of a fan of the Diamond aircraft.
Good job !!
Good morning from Minnesota USA!! Great episode!
Butter landing, must be nice to fly that beautiful bird!
Have a great day!✌️😎🇺🇸
so many flights above wall of Clouds one side & Open Blue Skies other side .So beautiful flight ....flying above but very the edge of weather .... till clear Touch down
My fav aircraft in MSFS and my favorite airport to practice at.
DA 62 is an amazing aircraft Hayley. Nice to have ‘awesome Dirk’ along!
It is a pleasure flying with you Captain. I like that you show us around the plane and explain how things work. The explanation of carbon fiber and wing flex during the bumpy ride was real life interesting.
I’ve flown to that airport a few times from Houston. Nice area. Poor Dirk though, what a tough day for him 😂
This brings back memories. I must have done that flight from London to Port Huron 20 times in my cargo days. Would have been a lot easier with those G1000’s!
Nice plane! When I get ready, I'll drop the cash for one...looks about right for what I want/need!
Beautiful aircraft. Admire the technology. I’ve never flown Diamond. Lots of Cessna and some Beech 1900, ATR and Boeing 727 thru 747-8. Currently Cessna 206.
Omg, that's Dirk! I've talked to him on the phone!
Haley, you have the most awesome job! Enjoy every minute of it.🐶
I'm in love.
More and more I'm seeing DA62's on the various ramps at the local airports in my area 😊
Hayley I'm new in your channel very interesting trips and airplane keep doing humble content. Regards. Sal.
Great video Hayley…loving the ‘62! Dirk is the best co-pilot/passenger for Diamond Aircraft! And he had some great lines like “There you go captain” and “That’s exactly how you do it.” He knows who’s boss 😜 Thanks for taking me along 🤗
Wow he has a million dollar voice!🙂🤩
Hayley thanks for sharing your nice flight experience with us please keep on making your videos and as always fly safe
That's a nice little twin.
great flight. impressed with the plane. very beautiful plane. thanks for sharing.
great plane, great flight...skilled pilots...fly safe all
Always fun to fly with you, thanks Hayley
I enjoy flying my 58 Baron, I can usually pull it back to between 20-22 gph total with around 165TAS at anywhere between 8&11,000ft. It’s also known ice certified. Never having flown a Diamond aircraft, I can’t make any comparisons but I don’t feel as it’s heavy on the controls or slow to react. The only comparison I can make is too a Piper Seneca 1 which is like flying a dump truck, lol. It’s kind of heavy on the controls and not exactly very sporty with the speed or performance as compared to the Baron. I would enjoy taking a flight in a Diamond one day just to see what the hype is all about.
another nice video, your passenger adds a little to the video
"...live longer than you for sure...", nice jab.
Chesterfield has it all. My work site is on the glidepath to KSUS. Lots of short finals turn in right over our plant.
Did you know the whole area (valley) around the airport was under water during the '93 flood? Even the highway was flooded.
Love these vids👍 when will debi make her appearance in flying vid? Congrats on everything!!
Very soon! Wanted to fly the Debi a few times first before adding cameras, planning to film a fun flight coming up
Lovely, 😍 no traffic Jam or byscles to watch out for. Is thrust synonyms with Trust? Blue sky's and Sunshine, did you ever fly through a 🌈 what is your idea of Romance? 💖
You are soooo cool, Hayley, I love flying with you!!!
I love this bird!
Love you ❤❤❤🛩️
Can you link or do a video on your background, what you do for a living, how you are able to suport flying etc? Appreciate the content👍
Welcome to KSUS! Is Dirk from STL? He seems to know my hometown well, even The Hill for Italian cuisine. But it looks like you ate in the valley. Not a bad second choice.
I have been enjoying watching your channel since YT suggested this due to my viewing preferences. I do have questions on what are the requirements to become a ferry pilot? If you have time could you expand on the path you have taken to get where you are in your flying career. I have an interest in getting my PPL and being a ferry pilot is very appealing to me. Thank you
Commercial pilot certificate, Class 2 or Class 1 medical, and enough hours to meet insurance requirements. Probably about 1000.
Not an Pilot but lucky to have right seated on so many 100/400 miles flights +- & Live 1 mile from my local small airport Love my new Seat iam in ....seems iam flying with you Thanks be safe & we Enjoy Point to Point Flight with ya ... Thanks ....
So, ITALIAN FOOD. Order of the day. ;)
Cool
What im amazed is $1.8 million. Yes its expensive for a new twin but wow great deal for safist aircraft on market. I can acutally see 2 million in this aircraft
I found your channel about a week ago. I love it! You have such a cool job I never considered in aviation!
Thankyou!! I didn’t know about it either until about a year ago- been enjoying it 😊
I can’t believe how well he is talking without opening his mouth
I wonder how long before there is active suspension between the wing and fuselage....Be kinda like hydro foil ride on a boat.
Hi!! When are you making it to the Dallas area? Let me know 😎
Beautiful landing.
Wonder if you got Italian on "The Hill" ??? Used to be THE place to find great food!
Port Huron is an hour down the road from me.
Great Flight and Vid Hailey, always enjoy!❤❤
Love these delvery vids, Hayley. Would be great to get am occational feature / appointment breakdown of these new aircraft.
Was just in SUS. What's the name of the Italian restaurant you like? Love the vid! Fly safe!
He has a radio dj voice.
Nice looking plane it's just heavy, expensive, slow and large outer dimensions to carry the weight so you need a bigger hangar. Diamond should make small turbofan engines and pressurized light plane. Would be a revolution.
Really liking the vibe of your channel, Hayley. You display a true joy of flight. Looking forward to following your adventures, your pursuit of AMP, and plans for Debi.
Great flight Hayley.
Very nice flight Hayley...beautiful automation on that Diamond.
Diamond 🌎
I was going to ask about wind 🌬️ at a higher altitude but you had the information. Nice job 👍
Love that airplane.
I absolutely love that plane looks sleek and sexy like a Ferrari!
Great video, but why did you stay so low?
Surely that thing will go over 10,000 feet? Maybe even 20? 😊
Ciao
Interesting flight. It would have been nice to see the instruments while you were flying, airspeed, alt etc....
will keep in mind for next time- I can’t mount cameras so it was hard on this flight to show the panel
@@FlywithHayley Okie Dokie, Thank You!!
How amazing that would be to have a job where you fly a different new airplane every day!
❤❤❤
When you ferry planes are these planes you have already flown previously?
Not the specific tail number no- it’s type (let’s say the DA40) I have at least 10 hours in before I can ferry them for insurance purposes.
Shout out for KSUS…my home field ;-)
Nice memories. I was ATC at Selfridge ANGB way back in the 1970s and worked PHN.
Dirk reminds me of someone famous but for the life of me I can't figure out who.
John Lithgow?
Diggler
@@richardmeyer7018 Lol
I figured it out. The guy from the Farmers Insurance commercials.

My dream airplane, sadly I'll never be able to afford a twin. These days I can barely afford my single.....
Which Italian restaurant did you go to in St Louis from Sammy
Two auto pilots. Good one Dirk
What is the name of the Italian restaurant in Saint Louis ??
Is it not CFRP and CFRK, carbon fiber reinforced plastic, carbon fiber reinforced kevlar also in certain parts... Is not all pure carbon fiber
Dirk is from ft worth..ok he might be my neighbor
She don’t need no mannnnn because she is one of
Please inform Dirk that someone wrote on the palm of his hand. Also - I'm a radio talk host. We could use his voice for commercials.
TAS values?
eating on the Hill?
We did!
Are you having italian food? Just a guess!
I’d love that plane if it didn’t remind me of a wasp which I’m deathly afraid of
Is this your new bird?
I wish! I have a Beech Debonair
A bit disappointing😏. I really thought you would fly it from Wr. Neustadt/AUSTRIA to St. Louis.
That hair adds an extra level of sound dampening, lol
Another great video
I’m just waiting at any moment for this guy to say “This is CNN…” He sounds a lot like James Earl Jones
How tolerant of fire are plastic aircraft?
this aircraft is made of carbon fiber- not plastic!
@@FlywithHayley Yes carbon fiber strands that are held together with highly flammable adhesives. sort of Tupperware airplane. Aluminum is definitely a little more fire-resistant and makes a much better Faraday cage to protect you from lightning. Most uncomfortable if you ever find yourself in the vicinity of cumulonimbus. :)
