When circular patterning a trimmed wrap, try checking the "apply per instance" box in the circular pattern menu. I find it works for many issues that come up when patterning features, and it worked for me in this case. My best guess is that it has something to do with non-planar surfaces and some sort of conflict caused by rotating or moving certain constraints around.
Edit: I have noticed it seems to only create one new instance for some reason, at the position where the first new instance would be You then cannot continue to make another circular pattern from the same wrap. No clue why or how to avoid it, but if you only need to copy it once it will work perfectly.

Nice, easy to follow tutorial! Thanks for sharing. OnShape does have a Slot Tool. It is hiding under the default Offset Tool button. Just draw a line or some curve and select Slot Tool.

You were missing something on the cone wrap. When you extrude a sketch you can extrude in two directions. These two directions can be in the same direction, but at different distances. If you extrude the first direction up to the the face without an offset and then extrude the second also up to the face only with an offset I think you would have it. Also when patterning and you get all of the features red, you can set the pattern to "Apply per Instance" and that should solve your problem I have a public file call "conewrap" that you can see these suggestions and how I did this exercise. Great video and keep up the good work.

The description below will make angled slots in a cone. It is hard to explain all the steps but I'll try.
    Build truncated cone
Use the shell command on the top and bottom surfaces to hollow out the cone
Draw line on cone surface from top perimeter to bottom perimeter on one of the principle planes (such as Right)
Make a new plane on this line. The plane should be touching the new line and be touching and tangent to the top and bottom perimeters
On the new plane draw a vertical slot then rotate it a few degrees
Extrude the slot through the cone shell a small amount as a part
Use Circular Pattern to copy the extruded slot parts around the cone, each slot part will have it's own part number
Use Boolean to subtract the slot parts
The result should be very close to the Wrap method of extruding slanted slots through a cylinder
Now a new cone can be constructed inside the cone shell and unioned using the Boolean tool

Brilliant! I'm going to add this to add bumps / ridges / nubs to my various prints!!!

Super helpful video. I can't wait to use these techniques on something (lightsaber grip and pommel come to mind). Thanks so much for making this.

Thx for the video. It helped me a lot. But the Method doesn't work with a cone and letters combination.

    Great video!
I wonder why OnShape has not implemented “project” or wrap something into a non cylinder. Many other programs do it, even slicers.

What if you made a plane parallel to the cone’s surface? Would that fix the problem of the edges of the concave being straight?

in other words this tool is used to extrude/remove Material on/from a curved Face. helpful Video. appreciate it. i have a question how to wrap a solid body on a surface?

I was about to comment that there is a slot feature in onshape, but i have no idea when it was added, could be well after this video was created. Regardless, one does exist now. Edit: oh, guess it was in there at that point.

Around 18:25 when you created a sketch to revolve cut. Could another way be do original offset remove. Remember that distance in. Then select that bottom surface for a new sketch, project use tool. Then extrude the distance u want it to stick out plus the depth it went in? I havent tried it yet but it sounds like it would work

I know nothing of cad and in 2 days I was able to build 4 knife models to almost the detail I want what I have issues with is making a bevel on the the blades how I want it either a hollow grind convex grind or even high saver grind any advice for me I use onshape and have 2 weeks free pro

Any chance you can make a video using this technique to do a DNA style Double Helix on the inside surface of a cylinder (threads)? Or can someone point me in that direction? Thank you and awesome video!!!

Hi, I've tried to do those excercises on an extruded ellipse and the feature pattern don't works: I'm not able to select the axis of pattern on the extruded ellipse surface

crazy how over complicated this is on onshape and other CAD programs. so many hidden settings to take into account for something so logical and simple.
